P•S•A Speaking on behalf of my fellow Seasoned Mix Engineers... ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• To all ASPIRING artists, producers, and up and coming labels alike: Please don’t reach out to us to mix your records, trying to sell us on how big they are going to be, or how they are going to do massive numbers AND THEN ask us to mix them for FREE or for the SUPER low. Don’t tell us how you’re going to make us “BIG TIME” or how you are going to put Gold and Platinum plaques on our walls. We have PLENTY of those and counting, HUMBLY speaking. We’ve earned all of our success thus far, through years of hard work and sacrifice. We applaud your enthusiasm, but we are offended by your sense of entitlement. You wouldn’t walk into the Gucci store and expect them to give you free gear, so don’t ask the people that are providing you with a service that can shape the trajectory of your career, to take an “L”. This is going to be epic!!! I remember being in the room when both of these artists met for the first time and recorded “So Icy”. I was an intern assisting as @tunaoncanvas engineered the session. You never fully realize how impactful some records will be on the culture, while you’re in the trenches working on those records. S/O to @tunaoncanvas @lesterbud @h2da @prodbyjt @mixedbymiles @shawtyr3dd @thefatboi_ @drummaboyfresh @justice_league @zaytovenbeatz and @coachk44 as we were all in those trenches working relentlessly to grow our own careers and sharpening each other along the way. That was one hell of an eco system @patchwerkstudio in those days. Looking back, I can say that those early years of working with @laflare1017 contributed in a major way to my growth as an engineer.
