the brutality of war shall aver themselves a ghastly affair, to spite unyielding foes and suppress dispirited morales of friendly allies. and it was in the dwellings of foregone years that Narsus remembers the merry laughter and festive carouses roused in the revelry of the Mardans - familiar voices fill the hall in light-hearted piffles, delving in the hour of rejoice when men of WAR such as themselves boast feats in claim of victory.

     among them all it was him and him alone who differs from both status and rank, back in his subservient days of secretarial duties, one who was young as Narsus cannot hope to claim the title of CHIEF TACTICIAN and secure the approval of Andragoras’ much older subjects; contrary to Daryun, who had been ordained the title of Mardan fu Mardan at the youngest age possible, his friend’s conquest had long since transcended the expectations of all those who witnessed him, whilst Narsus may possess allusions of a warrior on par with the sword, he is a man of letters through and through.

     “to have one of Pars’ most famed Mardans be seated in the gloom presence of a specter; Mardan Kubard you are not one whom I recall to enjoy quaffing without profound company.”

     “reminiscing the days of yore to past the time, are you not? it would seem that only Daryun, Kishward, you, and I, are all that is left, now.”

Narsus entering the grand hall was something Kubard had not noticed, as he filled up his tankard once again; hearing his voice was quite a shock. The Marzban smiled lightly into his tankard, taking a drink as his old friend spoke. It was true, when the Marzban drank, he usually had company, usually the other Marzbans, a couple of soldiers and whoever happened to be there. However, even the most extroverted of men need the time to sit, think and reminisce about the past.

Kubard grabbed another tankard off the table and poured the tactician a glass. Why be melancholic and somewhat tipsy on your own when, you can be melancholic and tipsy with others? It’d be a sad attempt at recreating the nights of old, sad in both mood and attempt. Yet, things change and, perhaps, with time these quiet nights will become louder and joyful once again. The first step on the path is to get these quiet, cheerless nights out of the way by trying to remove the dismal atmosphere, one achieves by drinking alone.

             “ Ah Narsus, gracing me with your shining light              in these dark times? Come! Sit and drink with              me! Be my profound company! ”

             “ You know me so well. The four of us will have              to drink when all this is over. If this ever over mind              you but, I’m sure we’ll all get through it. I have utmost              faith in all of us. "

Here he was, on his knees once again, in front of the King responsible for thousands of deaths, before turning tail; Kubard knew it was all a Lusitanian ruse. However, the reinstated Marzban couldn’t shake the thought of Atropatene from his head. He’d lost many friends that day, they all had. Listening to this tyrant who basically banished his own son, made Kubards blood boil as he spoke of infinite greed. Yet, he was keenly aware of his lack of power in this situation.

Had Kubard been in the kings favour, he would have called the Kings own greed infinite. Alas, he knew he walked a fine line with the King so, he kept his thoughts to himself. Kubard kept his head bowed as he kept silent in the Kings presence. He learnt the hard way, thanks to Shapurs continuous reprimand ,

              if you don’t have anything nice to say to the King,               keep your gods forsaken mouth shut.

So I’ve been thinking about Arslan Senki Rugby and damn it’s been eating me up inside. I tried to keep it to Pars && people affiliated to Arslan, the teams gotta be solid right? also if we had more ladies i would totally make a female team bc watching the womens 6 nation is ridiculously awesome.  Details on positions can be found here, i’m too lazy to type them out.

marriage? pha! marriage is quite possibly one of the last things I can see Kubard doing; he values his freedom too highly. Marriage is the contractual and lawful obligation to stand with someone regardless of what happens and, in the time period of AS, I’m like 4000% positive that divorce was not a thing. By marrying someone, he’s saying bye bye to his freedom. Regardless of how much he loves someone, marriage is a no no.

Plus you know, being a marzban is not a safe job. OK, Kubard is a literal mountain who can give anyone a run for their money but, he’s not invisible. I imagine that he’d be terrified of being in a committed relationship, letting that person love him with all their being and just dying on them. Yeah, you have all that romantic, “no matter where I am, I will always love you” crap but, Kubards a realist. Once he’s gone, he’s gone and the thought of leaving a loved one all alone after his death, terrifies him.

But, Kubard is all about love and junk. Does he eventually want to settle down? Hell yeah he does! Settling down is the prize at the end of the shitty and broken road; once Pars is settled, he’s gonna be all about finding someone to grow old with. Even though he doesn’t want to get married, deep deep deep down, he still wants to find someone to spend his life with. Marriage does not always equate to the amount you love someone. For some it is but, for Kubard, to show that you honestly care for him, don’t pressure him into marriage. Respect his freedom and his choice. 

he’s also not one to just date for the sake of dating. he’s a hard man to emotionally please which is really weird. Regardless of who is chasing who, Kubard enjoys the mile long trek of getting to know someone intimately. I mean, he’s not above having casual sex but, he likes to take his time with relationships. You’ve got to be real honest with him from the start, like if you’re only wanting something casual, tell him. if you want something a little more serious, tell him! But if you want the long haul, be prepared for the long haul.

Where the hell did he recognise her from? Kubard had only been in the strange Lusitanian/Pars camp for a few hours after being invited by Saam. But, just catching a glimpse of the girl, he couldn’t help but wonder where he’d seen her face. Perhaps it was one of those moments where he saw her in Ecbatana in passing? He wasn’t really sure and probably wouldn’t know until he asked her.

Fortunately, Kubard is a man of excellent social grace and wit! Unfortunately, all grace and wit goes out of the metaphorical window when, he pretty much marches up to the girl and asks.

It’d been a while since Kubard had seen so much as a speck of green and riding on his own, he’d decided to go to the greenest place he knew. He’d only seen it once in his youth, travelling past with army but, it was exactly as he remembered it: all green and lush-- is that a cushion?

He rode a closer to the cushion-looking-thing, wondering why the hell it was in such a remote place. Drawing his sword, he poked the cushion gently before deciding it was definitely a cushion and, not some animal curled up asleep.
