the garfield movie was kind of mid . im glad i didnt hype myself up about the movie tbh because i would have been disappointed if i did. i dont feel like critiquing the movie in depth so i'll just say some things i liked and disliked. cutting for spoilers if anyone cares about that

i liked the animation, kind of, its pretty fluid and cartoony. i liked odie in this film, earnestly the best characterization of him ive seen ever, he was the funniest honestly so i love that. i really liked the beginning parts of the movie before the plot was set into motion where it was just regular arbuckle household shenanigans. i liked some of the jokes but a lot of them fell flat

i was really disappointed with the core storyline about garfield and his dad vic. i didnt really feel anything about it which is crazy because parental relationships, especially paternal ones, are literally my bread and butter. i eat that shit up 24/7 but it didnt really hit me as much as i was expecting it to.

the product placement was expected, the pacing was really fast for the first bit of the movie and then it slowed down suddenly, i really don't know what's going on with the two bulls in love but i accepted it honestly. garfield movies have always been batshit in a strange way so i just rolled with the weird shit.

so yeah it was an ok movie i just really wish i felt something about it . honestly it was nothing to write home about , there wasn't even that many garfield references only avid fans would get . chris pratt should be banned from voice acting though. he's NOT garfield.

EDIT: OH AND ALSO. i loved the fact that the arbuckle house was basically the same exact house as the one in the garfield show, give or take a few layout adjustments

actually i think i would like to have a copy of "sing along with the grasshoppers" on vinyl but i am against buying it online via discogs or ebay because i feel like it can only materialize some mothball-smelling thrift shop or yard sale and it cant survive in the cold white heart of online ecommerce sites
