The fist sk8 event of the day is over!

They played a bunch of games and it was fun to watch.

I'll try to write a whole write up of it tomorrow, but they played some quiz games like which dogs the cast would be and played karuta etc.

There were no announcements in this session but there's still the night session. They've announced things only at the night session before so I'm still waiting :p

They did a live drama reading of a drama based off the ED of the OVA called skaters quest and it was cute! I'll try to sub it for everyone as soon as I can.

Amusingly, it's in EP5, when Adam himself names the meaning of roses and pracrically gives the viewer the key to understanding his insanity, that no one notices the flowers in Reki's friend hospital room. Meanwhile they are very important, and the same silver osmanthus is shown in EP12 in connection with Cherry blossom.

I see people talk about the meaning of flowers in anime a lot but people are using western flower meanings and Japan does not use those. Japan has its own flower language called hanakotoba. This is mostly because I see people talk about flowers in SK8 a lot but it’s just anime in general.

People do not get the references to ADAM’s job just in Kikuchi’s existence lol. Kikuchi’s name has chrysanthemum in it. the Japanese word for chrysanthemum is kiku (菊) and his name is Kikuchi(菊池 chrysanthemum lake). The chrysanthemum in Japan is a symbol the emperor(It is referred to as the Chrysanthemum Throne) and it is also used in politics. The only three jobs that are represented by chrysanthemums in Japan are the emperor, the diet members, and lawyers. Diet members and lawyers all have lapel pins with a chrysanthemum on them.

Well, it depends what you mean by like in this case I guess.... If you mean like as in wanted to date him, no that's going too far lol

But like him as a person and think he was interesting? Yeah Utsumi definitely confirmed this in an interview.

Specifically this part:

Whatever way you think Cherry felt about Adam, Joe felt the same way.

I've always felt this even before the OVA, but I think the OVA proved that Joe wouldn't have even been there if he wasn't interested in Adam.

I'm told that Utsumi says in the audio commentary on the BD that there's 61 karuta cards and I found 61, albeit some of them only partial cards lol.... so here is my list!

The karuta are supposed to be written in poem form and have 5 and 7 syllables in Japanese but for translating I just went with the closest meaning I didn't try to make them poems lol

Also, Miya and Reki's hand writing is too similar I tried to guess which one was which but I might have mixed a couple up.

1: Hasegawa Langa

Since he's known as "Snow," Langa is the only option!! The Yeti who made snow fall in Okinawa.

2: Sakurayashiki Kaoru

Since he wears a kimono, I feel like winter suits him. I also feel like sweating doesn't.

3: Shindou Ainosuke

I think he would look good in a high quality suit with a fine coat as the snow flutters in the night. But he's more like Satan than Santa. For ADAM, I think he would look good in a fur coat. Though it's more that ADAM would pass out if he wore that in the summer.

Q: Who do you think has the best fashion sense?

1: Kyan Reki

I think everyone has their own sense of fashion, but Reki has his own sense of taste and originality so that's why I think he's number 1!

2: Shindou Ainosuke and Sakurayashiki Kaoru

They seem like they have a mature and elegant sense of style. They seem like they'd know about brands and the advantages and disadvantages of different fabrics. Although Sakurayashiki had a lip piercing in the past, I'd put that fashion sense up to youthful indiscretion.

3: Chinen Miya

I think he chooses to wear clothes that suit him and brings out his best. I think he chose his “S” costume  because it was a design from his favorite game and he thought the design would suit him.

I think everyone at school knows that he has a bottomless stomach by now so I think there might be a lot of kids who would use that as an excuse to give him chocolate for valentines?

Q: In a previous official voting campaign, you asked "who would you give chocolate to?" and Reki came in first, Langa in second and Joe in third. How did you feel about the results of that?

A: As I recall, that was during a period of the story where everyone was feeling for Reki, so that contributed to his #1 ranking. It was really heartwarming to watch as everyone's chocolates for Reki piled up in real time.♡

Miya, Reki, and Langa part

The part where Miya and Koyomi interact is really cute for their age! Also, the piggy-back ride between Reki and Langa. For this scene we actually had two of our male staff members give each other a piggyback ride to use as reference, so the weight of it is very realistic! Since they had to carry each other on a slope in the summer, it ended up being like a real punishment game for them, so Producer Takemoto treated them to ice cream (lol).

Joe and Cherry part

Although it is a silly episode overall, I wanted to treat the sight of the two of them smoldering away about being unable to get serious about anything at the beginning with importance. Even though I had a limited amount of time cuts, I wanted to deliberately take my time to show it well. Since this part connects to the end, I really concentrated on their listless expressions and the perspective of the scene.

Ainosuke and Tadashi part

What I personally thought about was that it seemed really Ainosuke-sama to have it go from his extremely elegant day off routine, which would gradually turn ominous and then into horror, so I really focused on the flow of that. His silhouette at the end of the split screen section is that of a bloodthirsty killer.

Hiromi parts

I love how the range and amplitude of Hiromi's many facial expressions are so anime-like! When he turns upside down, it makes me really curious to see what kind of strange shape his body is taking on...... Hatanaka-san and Kobayashi-san were so excited saying, "Is this after episode 12?! So this means that Shadow hasn't been rejected yet, right?!!" But when I told them, "It's sometime during season 1," they were very disappointed.
