04LM Youngplanet (Brendan Moeller remix) (Kumquat) 04LM is the new alias of Argentinian producer Oswld (yes, the A is supposed to be missing). It’s a new project which encompasses the deeper side of techno, and is coming out on Swiss label Kumquat. Brendan Moeller needs little introduction; a dub techno giant, he’s got his sound on lockdown and proves his mettle yet again with a stellar remix of ‘Youngplanet’ on 04LM’s slick new EP. The track’s opening few minutes are like the soundtrack to an impending storm: close your eyes and you see the dark clouds closing in, the wind picking up and worried citizens running for cover. The thudding kick combines with a crunchy snare and, as the track progresses, its slovenly stomp becomes a lot more urgent when joined by a stuttering, muted beep. The mid-section is off-kilter and creates a real moment of tension before the track continues on its steady path. Mighty fine.
