Imo the extreme of dismissing everything in the comic as untrue and never happened bc it's Mizi's trauma talking feeds right back into the source of her pain

Her survivor's guilt is amplifying and warping what's already there

Mizi appears to be a happy, oblivious, beautiful goofball who only wants the best for everyone else. That's not faked. It was her authenticity that led Sua to open her heart.

But Mizi is a human.

It's impossible for a human to be a happy oblivious goofball for every moment of 22 years.

So the moment she diverges from being those things—having selfish thoughts, cracking from stress, having self-preservation instincts humans naturally have but morally shouldn't (apparently)—she's weighed down with the guilt of feeling like she's deceiving everyone.

She isn't allowed to not be happy oblivious goofball Mizi.

To get a read on what's real and false with Mizi requires identifying what actually happened, and what is her survivor's guilt adding biased commentary to push the "You killed them Mizi" narrative.

Which... they make pretty clear to us.

Anything in black text was a memory that did happen the way it played out.

Anything in gray text is her survivor's guilt speaking, trying to recontextualize the scene preceding, and should be read while keeping its motivations in mind.

Tl;dr it requires gumption to walk the line between not villainizing Mizi, but also not invalidating the moments that did happen and became the source of her self-hatred

I aged Orel and Shapey up from being kids because genderbent child Orel just looks like Christina and because we already know how I draw lil gal Shapey. I kept Shapey a girl because that's technically genderbent from the canon. Even though I don't draw Shapey as a boy.
