I went to Pink Party 9 with some friends and entered into their cosplay contest and managed to walk away with third place! This is my first ever win! I won my weight in board game, some extremely homoerotic comic books, and $100 in cash.

Gerudo Desert Vai Link cosplay made by me
I volunteered at a summer camp for a week and as thanks, they gave me a $100 Joanne’s gift card which covered this entire costume. I bought all the fabric on a Thursday and worked around the clock to get this done by the next Thursday. The week before I spent tailoring all of my own patterns from scratch (including the pants!)

[Ok so I have had a lot going on and Pax has already passed for me so I am going to make posts about it in chronological order as if I haven’t forgotten that I have a cosplay blog whoops.]
Since my last post, I have changed the cosplay I was going to do for PAX about 3 times. It took some time but I worked out the logistics and decided desert vai Link was the best option for me!

Ok so tutorials are going to be a while coming while a do a lot of research. I know my topics but I want them to be pristinely presented.
So until that is done, I might as well walk through my process starting with design.
This is a drawing of me with accurate body proportions. It’s also drawn in a pose that fits the character I will be cosplaying. This is important because having my real body proportions helps me visualize how the costume will accurately look on my body. This in tandem with the character pose will help me make design decisions that work with my body yet accurately represent the essence of the character.
I drew my hair and face normal because I will be wearing a full mask but that's all I am going to reveal about my next cosplay for now!!
Can you guess what it might be?

Did you know that last year that somebody thought I was good enough at cosplay to teach a class of teenagers how to do it too? I am still baffled by this.

[I’m the kneeling rainbow furry on the right. Our first introduction craft was cat ears]
I was paid REAL money to teach kids how to do what I do.
Something that I was taught heavily in art school was pipeline pipeline pipeline.
The ability to develop yourself a step by step guide (essentially) to visualize what you need to do down the road is a vastly underutilized skill. I figured out how to apply this to cosplay and that is primarily what I taught in the class.
So...
My new year's resolution this year was to finally make cosplay tutorials for the masses. I want people to be able to take a cosplay from a faint idea to a fully realized plan. Eventually I am going to make a patreon (with tutorials free forever) but right now I am just getting started.
In a few weeks, I am going to introduce my tutorial series for cosplay design and getting a pipeline setup for yourself.

I’ve gotten to the end of my cosplay queue without doing a whole write up on Mettaton v2! It’s coming I promise. I’m just waiting on my professional pictures I got taken at the Sakura con judging panel to come in. As soon as they do, I’ll post them with the work up.

Ok this is Mettaton V1. Custom pattern 100% stretch bodysuit. Shoes were ankle high and covered in vinyl with boot covers attached to the bodysuit itself. The real meat of this project is the Chest plate and belt piece. The chestplate houses a knob that, when turned, selects a song that plays through the speaker. There are four switch options. Option 1 is no music, option 2 plays It’s Showtime, Option 3 plays Metal Crusher, and 3 plays a random song from the chip. It only holds 4 songs so the other 2 are just the “Oh Yes~~” Sound byte and Spider Dance.
The belt is a concentric heart visualizer. Holds 49 red LEDs. It beats with the music being played or with my voice if there is no music. Underneath the knob is two buttons and they control volume.
I loved building this. Arduino and LED work is so rewarding. I knew nothing about electrical engineering before this project
I wasn’t satisfied with the body suit on this or the wig. The bodysuit was difficult to put on and the shoes were terrible.
Version 2 came a couple months after this and became my most popular cosplay.

I still suck at pictures. Entire thing made by me. Patterns and all. This was my first time sewing with spandex and I loved it. Also a first time using foam in any real capacity.

Thought it would be a good idea to make two cosplays the week before the con. Link and Ravio from Link Between Worlds. Both made from custom patterns, my first real try at it. I don’t have a lot of pictures of these for some reason.

Find me at Sakuracon!

Another school drag show entry.
Attempted a sexy cop Rin from Free! season 2 opener. This one was mostly put together based on stuff I had already.

Still wasn’t really into Homestuck but somehow I just had to cosplay Eridan.
The pants were made from a pattern, fabric hand dyed from a black and white stripe. Everything was made by me except the scarf. My mom knitted it for me. ;w;

Even MORE Jadesprite.
I threw in some more bits on it to complete the design.
This was around the time we did Davecount. Every Dave cosplayer we saw, we’d have them hold a whiteboard with an assigned number and then snap a picture for our blog. They were then entered a raffle that we also ran. It was silly and super fun.
