Chapter 108 is still part of the Emerald Witch Arc
I've seen a bit of confusion about what the last chapter of the Emerald Witch Arc is ("Ch107 or Ch108?"), so I thought to make a little clarification post!
In 2021, Mr K made a very helpful tweet in which he introduced each of the manga's arcs, i.a., giving brief synopses as well as all arcs' chapter/volume ranges.
(Translation)
When an arc does not end with the end of a volume, Mr K stated this in his notes for the next arc:
The Phantomhive Manor Murders Arc runs from Volume 9 to Volume 11. At first glance, Mr K's note might indicate that this arc begins with Chapter 38 (the first chapter of Volume 9) and ends with Chapter 52 (the last chapter of Volume 11). That is not the case, however!
In the info for the next arc, the Luxury Liner Arc, Mr K wrote that it begins in Volume 11 with Chapter 51. Thus, the Manor Murders Arc ends with Chapter 50, not 52.
As you can see, Mr K stated that the Emerald Witch Arc spans from Chapter 86 in Volume 18 to Volume 22. Volume 22 ends with Chapter 108! (It technically ends with Chapter 107.5 but it is not relevant here as it is non-canon.)
And because Mr K did not write that the Blue Cult Arc begins with "Volume 22, Chapter 108" but firmly with the start of Volume 23 (Chapter 109), the Emerald Witch Arc's last chapter is Chapter 108, not 107.
(The new wiki on wiki.gg sorts Chapter 108 correctly, whereas the Fandom Wiki does not, btw!^^*)
*It also correctly sorts Ch5 into the Red Butler Arc too
#kuroshitsuji#black butler#kuroshitsuji: emerald witch arc#(narratively ch108 fits better into the witch arc than into the blue cult arc too)#(this means we have 2 episodes and 4 more chapters left!)#(the question is of course whether ch108 IS animated but after cloverworks gave us ch85 too I doubt they will skip ch108)#(one of the new preview images is also from ch107!)#wiki stuff

Vincent and Francis
In 2017, Yana clarified that Vincent and Francis are full siblings, and that the family tree shown in Chapter 103/Episode 68 (S5E11) does not include Francis because it merely displays Ciel's direct lineage.

"Come to speak of it, I was asked whether Frances isn't blood-related (to Ciel) since she wasn't mentioned in Ciel's family tree that appeared (in the manga) a while ago, however, it was a family tree that featured "Ciel's [direct] roots", that's why Frances, his aunt, wasn't mentioned. [Vincent and Frances] are real siblings. -Toboso"
(Source for the translation; more translated Tweets about Vincent and Francis can be found via that link!)
Vincent is also Francis' older brother :)
She's introduced as such in Chapter 14. (妹君 = "imōto-kun" = "younger sister")
In the original Japanese version of Chapter 132, Francis also calls Vincent "Onii-sama" (お兄様) which means "older brother." (In the YenPress translation, she calls him "Vincent" here.)
Bonus: Francis being called "Francis Phantomhive." (Mild spoiler)
In Chapter 151, Undertaker addresses Francis as "Lady Francis Phantomhive" (レディ・フランシス・ ファントムハイヴ), her maiden name.
#kuroshitsuji#black butler#kuroshitsuji: emerald witch arc#vincent phantomhive#francis midford#(I still see relatively recent posts speculating that they're only half siblings)#(I will never forget how someone once challenged whether to 'fix' her article by removing that cloudia's her mother and...#... and 'phantomhive' is her maiden name...#because they've 'never seen any evidence that they're full siblings/cloudia being her mother/someone ever calling her a phantomhive'...#...on the wiki discussion page of her article which contains info on that already?)#(origin story for this post basically XD)#(so I'm posting this just in case this question arises!)#(EDIT: added Ch14 - thank you lady lilly gray^^ for pointing out my oversight!)

... Wrong again. "Streng geheim: Grüne Hexe Ausbildung Projekt" like in the amended manga chapter.
Chapter 104:
Panel Evolution: Chapter 98 and Episode 65
Monthly GFantasy version of a panel in Chapter 98:
"Höchst Geheimnis: Grüne Hex Ausbildeng Projekt" should correctly be "Höchstes Geheimnis: Grüne Hexe Ausbildungsprojekt." ("Höchstes Geheimnis" (highest secret) is not very fitting here though. "Höchste Geheimhaltungsstufe" (classified/classified top secret) would have fit more. The change below is good too.)
Volume 21 version of the same panel:
"Streng geheim: Grüne Hexe Ausbildung Projekt" should correctly be "Streng geheim: Grüne Hexe Ausbildungsprojekt" (Top secret: Green/Emerald Witch Education Project.)
Season 5 version of this panel:
"Streng geheim: Grüne Hexe Ausbildungsprojekt."

Vincent Phantomhive's birthday (June 13, 1851)
It is Vincent's birthday today!
Give him congratulations - even if he doesn't comb his hair as he should! (Have some mercy on your older brother, Francis...^^')
Time for some trivia!
Vincent was born on a Friday the 13th in 1851, and his mother Cloudia died on one in 1866 (July 13)!
Yana always keeps in mind to draw him differently depending on the person who is recollecting him:
"[...] Speaking of daddies, Ciel's daddy made a little appearance in the latest volume [*vol. 9]. I always keep in mind to draw him differently depending on the person who is recollecting him (I try to but I'm not sure if I managed it), like this: Madam Red -> a gentle man who she wants to forget Ciel -> a gentle father Kelvin -> kind looking yet evil man Tanaka -> Earl Phantomhive, the 'evil nobleman'" (Archived blog post/Translation)
In the same post, Yana briefly ponders over Tanaka's influence on Vincent as,
"There's that old saying 'One's foster parents have more influence on the child than one's real parents.': Ciel became an extreme sadist due to Sebastian's education in the last three years and it seems like the evil blood in him [*the evil side of his personality] was completely awakened [by Sebastian]. But if we consider the possibility that Vincent might have been brought up by Tanaka-san, that old guy must be quite...... oh I'd rather stop here." (Archived blog post/Translation)
Yana once tweeted that "because his wife was young, *papa [*Vincent] would [try to] make himself look younger." (Translation) However, Angelina's anime character sheet states her to be "32-34" in 1888, placing her birth sometime between 1854 and 1856. As Rachel is her older sister, Rachel's last possible birth year is 1855 which means that she could, at most, be four years younger than Vincent.
In the official character guide, Vincent is described as a "doting father" who must have loved Ciel very much. (Character Guide, page 121)
From his character guide sketch, it seems as if Yana considered giving Vincent long hair which he would keep tied up with a bow. (Character Guide, page 121)
Vincent appears in "With Father!" by Yana Toboso in the Rainbow Butler 2 anthology. In that non-canon story, he talks about wanting to have a daughter too, and remarks that she could never be an idol though as Phantomhive women are all "strong-willed."
This is not the anthology story he appears in: "Elastic" by Hajime Kirino features him as well. (Scanlation: Part 1/Part 2) In it, Kirino provides a possible answer to the question, "How did Vincent make Undertaker laugh to obtain information from him?"
#kuroshitsuji#black butler#vincent phantomhive#tanaka#diedrich#francis midford#rachel phantomhive#birthday posts#(the original links I had to the scanlation turned out to be dead orz)#(and the search for a reblog was annoying - until I just googled it orz (me <- stupid))#(I'm skipping the next two known birthdays (Sophie and Susannah) because I doubt I could put together posts for them sorry^^')#(so... next one will be the Agni and Rian Stoker double feature in August! juhu!)#(but today the post is for half of the canon hottest couple in kuroshitsuji! XD)

Monthly GFantasy: Issue 7 of 2025
(Source)
Monthly GFantasy's July 2025 issue will be released on June 18, 2025, and will include Chapter 216.
The official English translation should be available on the same day.
The magazine's extra for this issue is an illustration sheet of the May 2024 cover.
The release of the July 2025 issue also marks the first anniversary of Kuroshitsuji's hiatus announcement; the July 2024 issue contained the last chapter before the hiatus, Chapter 213. The manga's first, and so far only, hiatus ran from July 2024 to April 2025.

Kenjiro Tsuda (Seto Kaiba, Nicolas Brown, Immortal Tatsu, Lambo, Spanner, Kishibe, Lero-Ro, etc.) voiced a character in Kuroshitsuji. Do you remember who?

Happy June 4th!
It is the day of Weston College's annual cricket tournament! It is a day of sportsmanship - and evil, rule-bending gameplay if a Phantomhive is around.
Relevant chapters and episodes:
Chapters 74 to 81.
Episode 53, "His Butler, Gaining Admittance" (S4E5; eve of tournament)
Episode 52, "His Butler, Scheming" (S4E6)
Episode 53, "His Butler, Final Match" (S4E7)
Episode 54, "His Butler, Locking Up" (S4E8; boat parade and party)
Some facts and trivia:
Weston College's cricket tournament is based on Eton College's annual cricket tournament against Harrow School. (Source/Translation)
The Eton vs Harrow tournament does not take place on June 4th though. Yana chose "June 4" as the date for Weston's cricket tournament because Eton hosts a school festival every June 4th. Part of the festivities is a boating procession which served as the basis for Weston's victory boat parade.
Yana and her team met up with Naoki Alex Miyaji, the CEO of the Japan Cricket Association, to learn more about cricket and its rules as well as discuss strategies with him, i.a. the "Sword in the Stone" technique. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII (included in Volume 17)).
Miyaji gifted Yana a cricket ball; it is shown on the "table of contents" page of Volume 16. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII)
The cricket teams enter the grand dining hall for the eve of tournament celebration in the order of the previous year's tournament ranking.
Bluewer's "Hunter in the Dark" technique was based on The Story of Spedegue's Dropper by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII)
Ciel's "Over-the-Edge Tactics" was based on the real-life Bodyline tactic. (Downstairs with Kuroshitsuji, Volume VII; and Twitter)

Queen Victoria's birthday (May 24)
Another Albertless year :(
Oh, no, there he is :)
And a little bit of trivia too!
Height
The real Queen Victoria was famously short. She was only about 147 cm (4'10") or 149 cm (4'11") tall. As she grew older, she shrunk to 142 cm (4'8").
Kuroshitsuji's Victoria, however, is taller than her real-life self! She's taller than Ciel (152 cm (5'0")) and reaches up to Sebastian's (186 cm (6'1")) shoulders.
Grandmother and grandson
In the manga, Queen Victoria does not mention in her letter to Ciel in Chapter 86 that the German Emperor is her grandson. In the anime, she does, and she refers to him as "Willy" even! (Which was, indeed, his nickname.)
Wilhelm II was the son of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter and child Victoria, the Princess Royal (the later Dowager Empress Frederick).
He grew up developing a "love-hate" relationship with Britain (and his own heritage), i.a. because of his mother and the rest of his English family. As empress, his mother wanted to strengthen the ties between Great Britain and Germany; unfortunately, her husband Frederick III passed away only 99 days after his ascension, and her son had no such plans. His mother would never let him forget the ordeal of his birth and his disability (it was a rough, traumatic birth as he was in breech position; in the process to get him out, his arm got injured (as a result it grew to be about 15 cm (6 inches) shorter than his right one), and he suffered slight brain damage which led to him becoming i.a. erratic in behaviour), and Wilhelm grew up to resent her for it - and her homeland too.
While Queen Victoria treated her grandson respectfully, and he yearned for her acceptance and approval, she didn't like him. She distrusted him the moment he became emperor in 1888, and once described him in a letter as "a hot-headed, conceited, wrong-headed young man, devoid of all feeling" because he went to banquets and reviews only two months after his father's death.

Beast's birthday (March 22)
Today is Beast's birthday!
She was born as "Mally" on May 22, 1864 to Amelia, a scullery maid.
This information, however, is not in the manga. So far, Beast is the only character whose birthday we know (for certain) because of the anime.* And we know that this info is canon because Yana Toboso co-wrote the scene it was mentioned in!
For Book of Circus, Episode 9, a scene with Grelle was added. In the manga, it is only mentioned that she is at Phantomhive Manor to collect the souls of the fallen members of the Noah's Ark Circus. In the anime, we actually see her at work. Particularly, we can see Grelle collecting Beast's soul.
"By the way, I helped out a little bit with the script for the anime-original scene added in episode 9 which is airing right now on MBS. Please look forward to it. You know, it would feel so weird if ‘that person’ didn’t appear in the anime (lol) --Toboso"
(Source/Translation)
*Grim Reaper file sheets for Kelvin and Doctor can be seen in a very "blink-and-miss" moment in Season 3, Episode 10. As they contain erroneous information and are hardly visible for a split second, their canon status is a bit dubious.
