For my Kill la Kill fantasy AU Project RYUU, Chapter 16: Fire and Ice. This chapter wraps up a major story arc, and I got really absorbed in this illustration before deciding I just needed to be done with it already ^^’

Feel free to reblog this, it took forever because I draw slow and I’m not worried about spoiling the early ‘Ryuuko is a shapeshifter’ twist at this point.

Four years ago I started watching this show with no idea what a ride I was in for and no idea it’d wind up holding such a special place in my heart.

First time I’ve managed to draw something for the anniversary. You can decide exactly what’s happening here (but you can bet someone’s out to find out who killed her dad) ^^’

Senketsu in Project RYUU weighs more than Ryuuko; he’s a big ol’ dog, and though he’s curled up here, if he were to stretch out on his hind legs he’d probably stand nearly eye-to-eye with Ryuuko.

But we’ve noted that he’s also surprisingly agile and athletic. He doesn’t show much difficulty doing a vertical jump to about the height of Ryuuko’s chest – and has developed a habit of doing this while tucking forward his tail/rump, trusting Ryuuko to catch him.

Played with a different art style. For the face shape, I was looking at the style in the Monstress comics (which are great, btw? Maika has so many cold, fierce expressions, I naturally thought of Satsuki while I was reading. I’m also envious of how they draw hair; Moriko and her sister have just the type of hair I’ve been trying to give Satsuki but had been struggling with drawing in a way that makes sense). Some additional hair inspiration from  Nobunaga’s Ambition ^^’
