I’ve been wanting to make a Black Sails pride piece for a while.
I think Black Sails is such a relevant show to Pride not just for the importance, the complexity and the diversity of its queer characters but more importantly because the show has woven Shame into its narrative as such a significant theme. Which is what makes this show so important for so many people of the LGBTQ+ community and also such an important queer story to tell.

SPOILER alert. some ppl are actually rlly mad that ade's little "brother" turned out to be a girl and the chosen one bc they wanted a male to save all the witches and be the chosen one. i'm not even going to go on a rant abt how braindead that is. but just a friendly piece of advice, take ur male messiah fantasies somewhere else. u clearly did not understand the series and its message at all if u think the savior of witches/women should b a male.

I’ve just finished watching “Luna Nera” on Netflix (I’m always down for a show about witches, no matter where it’s from), and I just wanna give a shout-out to my italian pals. It might not be the best show ever, but I’m really proud of the women who created it and acted in it. Yes, because it was mostly made by women for women, and you have no idea how much this is important for us in Italy right now. Since the beginning of 2020, 13 women have been killed by their husbands, partners or former partners just because they were women. One of them has been beaten and tortured for three days straight. One of them was pregnant. Two were mother and daughter. Six were killed in just one week, and people are not talking about it as they should. It’s like we’re invisible, like we don’t even matter. And a show about women power, set in a time in history when thousands of women were captured and killed by men just because they were women, a show created, directed and acted by italian women in a country that acts like it’s oh so advanced and modern but still treats us like shit is so important for us right now, no matter how good or bad you might think it is. Keep on the good work, ladies. Let’s do it for our sisters.
