“Rumors?” she asked, raising her eyebrow and attempting to showcase how the small sentence didn’t bother her, even though it had. Her brain attempted to run through everything that it could possibly be, eyebrows furrowing before her face relaxed. “Me and... Patrick? Rumors about that? Because if it was, I swear I was going to tell you I just wanted to do it in a... fun way.”

of all of the people she could have run smack dab into, she certainly wouldn’t expect it to be tabby. today was definitely turning out to be a more interesting day than she had thought. “tabby, hi!” lo moved forward to give a quick hug, before rocking back on her heels. “how have you been?”

Tabby couldn’t help but to freeze slightly at the hug, before she forced herself to move to reciprocate it, her arms awkwardly moving to wrap around the other, patting her back a few times before letting go. “I’m alright.... How are you?”

“I’m not in customer service.” Quin’s grumbled response matched the flush of red on his cheeks as he quickly got to shuffling the papers in front of him on the desk. He had come up here strictly to grab said papers and been intercepted before he had a chance to stop it. Leaving his little storage supply closet office was clearly dangerous. “I keep records. I keep track of things. Did you need something?”

“Well, that’s good then. As a normal human being you could definitely work on your delivery, though,” she said. As if she really had any room to possibly talk. “Oh, no, I already found what I needed. I’m just a sucker for public altercations.”

Tabby wrinkled her nose as they linked arms before nodding, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. “You better not screw it up, though. I’d like to keep my limbs.”

“Early is on time and on time is late.” She looked at him with her quill still in hand, “but it’s good to see you.” If nothing else Archie’s company was welcomed, keeping her on her toes. She had to maintain her work persona as best as possible. Maybe. Or if she was more approachable their relationship would be better off. Finding that balance was proving to be more difficult than Millicent would have liked but she had things to learn herself.

When he mentioned the toilets she couldn’t hide her smiling laugh. “You never know what’s been in that toilet. It’s rather nauseating if you think too much about it. How do you think it should be done? Maybe we can make that change,” she smirked. It wouldn’t happen but she could dream. “That’s one thing MACUSA does better than us.” She was still looking at him, “Look, you had to wait for a toilet to get to work. I can look past that for now. Go sit down,” she said in a relaxed voice.

Archie had to fight back the wince at just how similar the other sounded to his parents. She was right, of course, he should've made it earlier. "It's good to see you too," he replied, knowing there was no point in trying to explain himself any further.

"Normal floo powder system? I'd much rather walk into a fireplace every morning rather than a public restroom. However I very much doubt they'd be willing to make any changes," Archie replied. He nodded quickly, moving towards his desk and setting down all his stuff. This was quite possibly his least favorite part of the job, being stuck behind a desk. But he wasn't idiotic enough to think he didn't have to do it.

nessa smiled. “we can go get food then.” she had already started to grab her board from where it rested next to her backpack when his comment made her pause. a bit nervously, she tucked both hands under her armpits and rocked back on her heels. “am I being a lot?” she didn’t always realize when that energy was buzzing out of her.

Bilius stared at her and took in her quick change in temperament. He immediately floundered, shaking his head quickly. “What? No, never,” he replied. “I just don’t want to force. you to sit down for food and have all that energy pent up because that couldn’t be comfortable. I mean, unless you’re used to it then I guess it doesn’t quite matter? Does it? And, well, now I’m probably just digging a really big hole for myself while also shoving my foot right into my mouth...”

“Uncle Bill is amazing at his job and doesn’t let them get away with everything!” he replied, only slightly offended. She was completely right, of course, he was horrible at discipline. But how could he? One shared his name! He couldn’t possibly be mean to himself. “Are you really wanting a baby, though? Or, wait... Is this your way of telling me you are having a baby?”

Nick noticed the twitch with glee. Good, Gideon still remembered them. “Would they? I’d disagree. Explosions take away the responsibility. You see the aftermath, but it wasn’t really your responsibility was it? It was the explosion, the explosion did all that damage. When it’s personal, that hurt, those crimes, they’re all yours one way or another.” 

It was why Nick liked it so much more. Though Gideon probably wouldn’t like the reminders. Oh well.

He blinked. “Aren’t they?”

“It’s still your responsibility,” he fought back. “You created the mess, you put the plot into motion and created the same amount of hurt,” he added. “Every decision you make when it comes to creating those explosions comes from something personal. You hate when people are different from you, hate when they could be smarter than you. So you take it personally and hurt whoever crosses the path, even if they never even knew you.” 

Gideon couldn’t help but to laugh, shaking his head. “That train? The one you took to Hogwarts every year? That’s a machine, believe it or not. Planes are machines. Air conditioners, they aren’t as popular here but in America? Every house has one.”

“kind of. most men do.” echo admitted. talking had the tendency to grate at her nerves and rile up her irascible temper. then again, she was no fan of silence either. the water pooled in her palms for only a moment before it began to glide up her arms in little streams and spread over her skin, branching apart like veins to absorb into her. “then leave.” she challenged, hands still out for more water.

“Well perhaps I’m not like most men, then,” he replied, before immediately scrunching his face in distaste at his own words. “Not like that, I’m not a creep, I swear I’m only trying to help you because the place just exploded,” Bill attempted to clarify. He watched the water flow up her arms, his mouth dropping open to say something before he decided that it was probably not the best time to do so. “I think I’ll stay, thank you.”

“Six of us, yeah. I mean, in the end it’s up to you guys,” he said, letting out a laugh. His shoulders were loosening, he could feel it. Archie shook his head again, sadness seeping into his gaze because he just needed Jax to understand. His words were failing him and he wasn’t sure where he would find them. “You’re safe right now, but I can’t... I need it always. You and Tig. I fucked up, dad fucked up, really. But then I did too and we’re at war. I was trying to make sure... To come up with some way to make sure you are always safe.”

“You’re gonna love Uno.” He said, knowing it deep in his soul. She would be terrifying at it, he couldn’t wait to unleash competitive Leens on his unsuspecting family members. 

“It might get a little big, I’ve got a lot of family.” Patrick apologized. No way he’d get out of not inviting most of them. The aunts would never forgive him. “But they’re all normal– err, Muggle. We’re gonna need to tell everyone no magic.”

“Could Seamus play? Or, at least, could we attempt to get him to play?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. She wasn’t quite sure she would want him playing gobstones at the age he is now, but Uno sounded... easier. 

Lena nodded, she wasn’t going to deny any of his family entrance. “They’re allowed, and no apology needed. I don’t want a single one not there,” she pointed out. “No magic... Sounds like the only way to make this wedding better than it’s already going to be...”

“It’s so much better than gobstones. Nothing ever ruins your shirt.” Granted he’d definitely almost punched his eldest brother during Uno but that just typical sibling shit. It was just the way of things. His face was beginning to ache from how much he was smiling and he couldn’t bring himself to stop. “I think I’m gonna be okay with that.

“I’ll probably be crying too. Just a warning. Lots of happy tears. I’ve umm, kinda wanted to marry you for years now.”

“Really? That is undoubtedly the worst part of the game,” she mused. She couldn’t help the grin that was covering her features. She’s wanted to marry Patrick before they even left school, if she was going to be honest with herself. But she was too young too naive to have thought it all would’ve been smooth sailing. “I’ve wanted to marry you for years, too,” she replied, the words easily flowing from her mouth. 

“Nothing big, though. Just... Just your family, our friends, Seamus. That’s all I need.”

Logan had been out of the game for some time, but he hadn’t become unobservant. He held back a smirk as he watched Gideon’s eyes follow his thumb across his lip, and responded in kind when the other man bit down on his bottom lip. There was something about an attractive man biting his lip that made thoughts of not making a move, vanish almost entirely. “Good to know.” He watched as the dog padded to his heel and sat obediently. Logan had never seen a dog so well behaved, and admitted that Strife had been right, he did want to call him the ‘goodest’. “Gideon. It’s nice to officially meet you. I think you work a few departments up from mine.” He took a step forward and held out his hand, almost grazing the other man’s chest as he did. “I’m Logan. And there’s a shortcut this way, through the park, so long as you’re up for a late night stroll with a handsome stranger…”

He couldn’t deny the fact that he really bloody loved the way his name sounded coming out of the other’s mouth. Was he about to become a fucking cliché? Dear merlin, he probably was. But at this point, it was probably better for him to have something familiar, isn’t it? Something he at least would understand at the basic level would be a welcome thought. He gazed down at the hand in front of him, leaning back just slightly to grab it in his own. His head tilted to the side just slightly, the idea of being out in the dark with someone he had just met was not a welcome thought. But he had Lovely. And his wand. “Handsome stranger? Are you just the wingman, then? Where’s this handsome stranger at?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as he grinned.

“No, no, see, I am absolutely telling you that I have scoured every inch of this bookstore, read ever book on these shelves… thrice… and it is my literal job to go through them, categorize them, and get them where they need to go, and I have never in my life heard of a book called ‘35 magical ways to clear unwanted blemishes’. Maybe a dermatologist is more what you should be looking for? Maybe?”

Tabitha watched the exchange, unable to help the laughter that slipped from her lips at the disgruntled customer, and quite possibly even more disgruntled employee. She covered her mouth as the kid walked away, narrowly avoiding getting shoulder checked by them as they did. “Well, that was A Star customer service there.”
