DB Week 8
After watching the video lecture about implementation, I think that there may be a few challenges that my client may have to face when implanting my recommendations. I think that keeping in mind who the target audience is, is going to be somewhat of a difficult thing for my client. This could because we have a structured system of how to handle IT tickets and how to then approach them. If we start to get too engaged with an audience on social media then it may lead to our audience reaching out to us over social media and not going through the proper procedure to handle a IT ticket. We need to have official documentation of each and every ticket we get as this leads to having something to look at further down the line. It also allows us to see every change that we made to every room. I also think that one other problem we could have is keeping in mind to post on social media during holidays and other events we may need too. This could easily be solved by setting up reminders around the office.

DB Week 7
After completing Hootsuite 3 and 4 I am now more aware of what effective content is. Effective content is able to reach out to an audience and deliver a clear and concise message. You will also want your message to be able to engage with your audience, for example when you make a post you should have someone or a few people who have access to the account to be able to interact with comments and other questions that your audience will have. An example of effective content is with the company Duolingo. Duolingo is a website where you can learn different languages on. They have a green owl as a mascot. They post a lot of videos of the owl reminding its users to do their daily lessons.
Becoming a social organization is important with the principles of effective content development and sharing because it makes your brand stand out. You have to have a unique brand identity as this can make you stand out from the rest of your competitors. This can also make a audience want to engage and interact with your brand.

Week 6
Chapter 4 and 5 in the Social Organization were about the use of collaboration and teamwork. They were more specifically talking about when and when not to use collaboration. They say to use collaboration when you need ideas and experiences to create something. This will create higher performance and lead to better teamwork within an organization. They say to not use collaboration when deep analysis is needed. One of the other things that was covered in these chapters were the six F’s of attitudes towards social media are folly, fearful, flippant, formulating, forging, and fusing.
Chapter 4 of the Hootsuite module was about how companies can create fundamentals to build a strong community within their organization. You want to be able to humanize your brand so that people know that you are active and engaged on what other people have to say. You can do this by commenting on other posts and participating in conversations that are online on relevant conversations. You can also do this by engaging with your other customers.

One of the main takeaways that I had from Maciej Ceglowski's talk was that companies can have our data quite literally forever. I always thought that companies replace the data that they have on you over time, but never realized they hold onto it. I think that this has a major influence on surveillance. If companies are able to keep all you data as long as they would like to then they would be able to run an algorithm on you and would potentially be able to predict what you look up next. This would allow companies to get better and better and show you targeted ads. This is a bit alarming to me because they could potentially build a virtual model of yourself. The idea of that just makes me feel uneasy.

Week 4 DB #2
The article “Three reasons junk news spreads so quickly across social media” reminds me of the “Social Delima” in that it talks about how social media is not good for you. The first reason that the author mentions is Algorithms. The main point that is trying to be made is that when your data is tracked it can send you information that is unique to you. This information can keep you in a bubble and essentially never let you see new information. These search results are generated by a machine that has been made to keep you locked on your device. The algorithm is looking at what you are searching so that it can get better and better at showing you content that you will like. I see this happen when I compare me and my roommates Instagram feeds, they are widely different.
The second thing that is talked about in this paper is advertising. The article says that the reason that our social media platforms are free is because they are selling our data to other companies to better understand what we like. It then goes into click bait and says that clickbait is supposed to make us have an emotional response. When I am on social media I see this often but I personally never think about it to much as know they just want that one view.
The third and final thing that is talked about in this article is Exposure. As mentioned before the machines that run these powerful Algorithms monitor what you look at so that they can keep you engaged into the content. Because of this you will get content that reinforces your beliefs and will keep you in a bubble. The articles then goes onto explain how this can make people never change their views as they are constantly being feed the same things. I think that this is very true as I know a few people who are guilty of this. One of the ways that people companies can respond to this is by clicking the do not show me this button as this can change the feed.

Week 4
I think that a few of most important qualities for a social media consultant to have are creativity as they should be able to stick out from the rest of the competition. They should have some technical skills for the specific app that they want to use as this can go a long way in making your post all the better. One of the last qualities I think that a social media consultant should have is good communications skills so that when a potential customer reaches out they can respond in a fast and informative way. All of these skills would be able to establish a strong social media presence so that the brand and account can be shared more.
If I was my own social media consultant I would try to post more. I am on a few different social media platforms but I hardly post on them. I would post things that I find interesting on my story and would comment on my friends posts more to help them get more views. I think that that one of the other things I would say that overall I would have to start posting and engaging more with other accounts to get my account out there.

Week #3
The Netflix documentary the social dilemma was very eye opening and unsettling. One of the things that stood out to me the most and made me the most uneasy was the fact that these machines (the A.I.) have the ability to know what we will want to see and remember everything that we look at. I think that is horrifying in that there is no privacy, and its main goal is to distract me and keep locked into the app. Hearing about how the younger generation is suffering because of social media was upsetting to hear as well. I never got any form of social media until I was about halfway through high school, I cannot imagine growing up with that constantly in my face.
I thought how the documentary ended was very strong. One of the people said that we live in a world where goods are sold for more money even though we know that they are not good for the environment. He gave the example of mining the earth for oils. He then went to compare how we are the product to social media.

Week 2 post #2
From what I found from doing Part 1 of the social media log that I spend about over 10 hours of 24 hours looking at some form of a screen. This could anything from being on my phone, being on my laptop, or watching tv. Seeing the results for myself I was surprised as I did not think that the number would be that high. One of the main goals I would like to try for the second part of this experiment is to cut back on the number of hours that I spend looking at a screen. I figure that I would try this for 24 hours. Within these 24 hours I will not spend any time watching TV and will not spend any time on social media.
I would do this on Wednesday November 1st. To make this easier for myself I would leave my phone on do not disturb and would put all the apps I wanted to avoid using in a separate folder so that I would not accidently tap on them. I would also unplug my tv so that there was no temptation. Not watching tv would also include things like You Tube. I would only be using my iMessage app and phone for the day.
When I woke up that morning it was hard not to go on my usual apps, as I usually check on them as I am eating my breakfast. I would then head to my classes for the day. It was easy to avoid going on my phone during this time. As the day continued it was easier and easier to avoid the urge to open one of the apps, at least until the evening after I was done for the day. One of the ways I would end my day is to watch a show or some sports game. This was hard to avoid, while being bord with nothing it then became difficult to stay off social media. I would end up pulling out my laptop and working on some homework to pass the time. After that I would end up reading a book that my roommate landed to me.
One of the things that I picked up on throughout the day was the busier I was the easier it was to stray off and not think about not going on social media.

Blog Post #1 week 2
The Max Stossel presentation was very interesting. I thought that it was very unique to hear someone’s perspective that used to create these addictive things. I like how honest he was when talking about how these companies view the consumer. I also liked how he gave and showed how when people are on social media and or games after a point of being on that app, they are not even enjoying the app. I found myself guilty of this trend and it really put how I should manage and spend my time in perspective.
I found Emma Rathbone's article to be a bit redundant. The article was trying to show that without the internet people are more creative and are aware of what’s going on around them. I am never on my phone/technology enough to where I do not have random thoughts when I am bored. I would also like to think I am pretty aware of my surroundings, again I do not think I am on my phone enough to where this could be a problem for me.

Introduction
I am Kyle Kaczmar, and am a senior here at Central Michigan! I will graduate in Spring of 2024 with a degree in Information Technology. I am interested in doing networking as it has always been something that has interested me. One of the main things I have been focusing on is applying to jobs so when I finally get my degree in hand, I have a job waiting for me. On a personal note, I enjoy running, it is a hobby that I have been doing since my 8th grade year. I am the oldest of two siblings, I have a younger sister that goes to MSU. I am looking forward to what we learn in this class and, how I can apply what I learn here to other endeavors.
apple.com
A company that I think does a great job with their social media skills and marketing is Apple. The name “iPhone”, “iPad”, “Mac” etc have become so popular that you could virtually go to anyone in the world say an apple product and they know exactly what you’re talking about. Apple is also the biggest tech company in the world, they are always trying to find ways to innovate and keep people interested in what they are making next.
