Mal'narae: Shedding
[ Black Temple, Trent Kaniuga ]
O U T L A N D
“Mal’narae’s left us. Aleaith was on second watch and said she came back from a perimeter sweep to find Mal’narae gone, along with her gear. The rest of us didn’t even hear her leave. Maiev was furious, of course, but refused to let anyone go after her. I don’t know where she’s going. The Dark Portal is still closed.”
–the Outland diaries of Warden Lelyia Silentbranch, posthumous
T H E B L A C K T E M P L E
“Me and Thelior were on duty above the gates when she showed up. Was just a week after my trials and the tattoos on my body still ached, but no rest for the wicked, right? And there she was, a warden in full armor, maybe 100 meters from the gates. Just standing there. Not the usual half-mad supplicant to the Black Temple wailing about wanting power to avenge whatever bullshit had wronged them.
“When she had our attention she took off her helm, put it on the ground, and started walking towards the gate. A little bit more, then she took off her spaulders. Then her greaves. Gauntlets. Staring right at us each time she took off a piece of armor and walked a bit closer. Didn’t say a word until she was right in front of the gate, just wearing a dirty shift and carrying those damned glaives of hers. She kept those.
“And then she looked right up at us. Fel, even without my old eyes she was fucking gorgeous. But I still wouldn’t have wanted to fight what I saw there. Not even then.
“‘I’m here to learn from your Master,’ she said. Said, not shouted. But it still carried. ‘Open the gate.’
“Now, normally we’d let fresh meat sit outside for a while. Stew for a bit. But this was something different. Thel went off for the watch captain and I… stood above the gate. Did what I was supposed to do, look stoic and imposing. And she was having none of it. Just waited. And stared.
“When Thelior came back it wasn’t with the captain, but one of His lieutenants. Jenath had overseen my trials, he was a big, mean bastard. He looked over the balustrade at the warden down there and laughed the same laugh he did when he set my demon on me.
“‘Let her in. The Master says her boldness is intriguing. I’ll take her into keeping, and we can see if she's as bold when she faces her own trials. Radran, fetch the armor she left behind.’
“Thelior started cranking the gate while Jenath went down to bring her in. Me, I waited a bit then jumped the rail to go out for that armor she’d been so dramatic with. She said later it was her way of showing she wasn’t a warden anymore, shedding it all, but… yeah.
“Mal’narae fucking Duskwind.”

SEEK YE MY WORLD FAMOUS N'ZOTH GOOGLE DOC?
Written at the end of 8.3 it contains 100% all natural organic ravings. At some point I need to do a follow-up looking at and analyzing the new N'Zoth and Infinite content that was in Dragonflight, + PS notes on Xal'atath & her true nature (she is once again 'not an Old God' after pingponging between 'implied to be an Old God' and 'implied to be something else' since her introduction.)
