Another story from the aquarium is that a seal had just given birth and I was talking to one of the seal keepers and asked if seals mate for life and she said no, the mom has now moved on and is trying to mate with another female seal. The male apparently couldn’t care less about either her or the pup, and apparently the other female seal is now playing with the baby seal and helping to teach him how to seal. Bisexual top mom and her girlfriend, who is not the step seal but the seal who stepped up. Anyway imagine if you had an absentee father but he lives in the same house as you, sure it’s a big house but you see each other all the time he just never talks to you.

i just listened to all the music thats ever been. my favorite was a song a little girl sang to her cat in greece in 1286. my second favorite was from a ceremonial performance in modern day ethiopia, from 22000 bc. i also liked STEELY DAN.

honestly this isn't even about any particular stance on AI, I'm just annoyed by the amount of disrespect people are putting on the human brain. you have no idea what that bad bitch is capable of, having an AI write your emails is not gonna slow it down.

much less alarmed by the 'cognitive impact' of LLM use than I am by the fact that so many people apparently believe your brain can atrophy or permanently lose function in the space of four months because you used fancy sparknotes to write a couple of essays

I think that relying too much in LLMs can indeed harm your capacity for learning, in the same way that poor systems of learning (rote memorization, just copying whatever without thinking) can. Learning is a thing you need... to learn. Even LLMs can be a useful tool for learning as long as you have a good learning strategy.

That paper that says that AIs cause COGNITIVE ATROPHY is still unreviewd and smells so much of bullshit that I'm tearing up from here. Do not share it uncritically.
