the ladies' bathroom is the temple of Aphrodite
I make my pilgrimage through the crowd
I dance my way through the beer garden and enter her sacred space
past midnight, the sermons begin
the sink is the altar at the temple of Aphrodite
the priestesses are gathered around one tiny mirror
their giggles and cackles are ambrosia to my ears, the nectar has long before started flowing
it has to, else no service tonight
"oh my god," the high priestess says, invoking the prayer
"you're too good for him," says another of the women
"girl, I love that dress," says the third.
one of them offers her mascara. communion.
the stalls are the confession booths in the temple of Aphrodite
as the godess herself holds a girl's hair as she confesses her sin
"do not worry, child, it is not a sin to live in hedonism," she says, her voice like honey
"stall’s free," the girl stumbles out
it is a mess, the temple of Aphrodite
but not a repulsion. tear tracks are a mark of love,
not for the man who caused the tears but for the girls who wipe them away
you’ll never see them again, but tonight they voice the will of a godess
I ask the high priestess where she got her shoes
it is part of the ritual of the temple, and I have done my part now
"ooh, girl, on sale!" the priestess is pleased.
the godess herself is appeased. I go in peace.
the ladies' bathroom is the temple of Aphrodite

I've been looking into opening communication with more of the Theoi recently, and something about Lady Aphrodite really stood out to me. It's been wonderful worshipping outwardly - to the sun, to restfulness, to my travels - but I always think it's good to turn inward now and then.
A big thing that draws me to her is love - not just romantic, but self love too. I'm queer, and still in the throes of figuring out my gender and how I want to present. I think looking to her for acceptance, as well as general guidance, could make a ton of difference in my life.
I'm on that awkward line between loving myself and not. I think I'm fine. But I want to feel confident in myself, I want to be the best version of myself - and who better to do it for than the Goddess of Love herself?

I Love Seeing my Gods Everywhere
I’m making Mac and Cheese-
And I see Demeter and Kore in the noodles,
I see Hephaestus in the pot,
Poseidon in the water,
Zeus in the olive oil,
And Aphroditê in the sea salt.
I see Hera and Hermes in the milk and butter,
I see Apollo in the cheese’s golden hue.
And through all of it,
The act of cooking and the heat it requires,
Hestia is guiding my hands,
Helping me create nourishment and joy,
All in honor of The Gods.
Thank you Blessed Theoi, may I never cease to sing your praises 🙏🏻

Apollo gives me so much hope for the future. I've prayed to him in my darkest moments, and he's always taken my hand gently to pull me back to the light. Like a candle in the distance, I see the hope of things improving, and I continue onward. How can things get better if we're not around to see it? And the entire way there, Apollo is holding my hand, whispering words of encouragement.
Apollo reignites the spark of hope in my heart when I've gotten lost in my own mind. He's reminded me of the beauty in life - the things that make life so worth it. The birds singing in the morning, the butterflies flying across the yard, the small flowers growing between sidewalk cracks, the way my dog looks at me when I greet her in the morning, the joy of dancing in my car at a stoplight, the sound of laughter when I tell a funny joke, the excitement of someone who's gushing about something they love, the sun setting over the horizon and painting the skies with gorgeous colors. There is beauty all around us, and romanticizing it is so necessary.
Thank you, Lord Apollo. Kindly God with a heart of gold. Benevolent Prince of Olympus. The light of, not only my life, but countless lives across the world. Thank you. I love you.

devotional acts for Lord Apollon if you can’t have an altar or want to feel closer to Him:
listen to music!
sit out in the sun
write poetry
draw Him! you may not be the best at drawing but i’m sure He’d like to know how you depict Him
dance to music
create a playlist for Him (songs that remind you of Him or ones that you think he would enjoy)
sing along to music (you may not like your singing as the god of music, He would appreciate it)
if you take any medication, take it if you haven’t already!
being kind to people
celebrating pride
reading poetry if you don’t know how to write (or are too lazy to learn. it’s okay.)
listening to lyre music
maybe learn the lyre if you have the time (and money)
eating citrus fruits
painting
taking care of yourself. He is the god of healing, He would want you to be healthy
every 7th of the month, celebrate Him!
if you have money, donate to LGBTQ+ people in need
