Sailboats in front of playa Pichilingue. The Pichilingue beach has white sand and shallow waters and two or three small seafood restaurants and they also make small trips by boat.

If you are in La Paz, BCS those days until next weekend you may want to spend attention regarding various road closures in the city and suburbs in connection with the Baja 1000 desert-race which will start this year in La Paz going north to Ensenada versus the "regular" peninsula runs coming to La Paz.

Hurricane Norma made landfall north of Cabo San Lucas about 1/2 way between CSL and Todos Santos, along Mexico's Baja California Pacific coast, as a Category 1 storm on Saturday, 21.October 2023. Norma brought heavy rains and strong winds, causing flooding and knocking down trees and power lines in the region. The state capital La Paz, despite not in direct path while hurricane was crossing the southern part of BCS peninsula got hit severe by outer bands of hurricane with extreme showers and wind. There is a lot of damage in La Paz which got declared disaster area by government.

Pacenas y Pacenos - Have a good start into the week. This morning we got a dry moment from yesterday afternoons thunderstorm. Yet there is more forecast to come. Be prepared for eventual impact of Lidia. So far it looks like we "only" get a s*it-load of rain, however, despite all forecast, conditions can change fairly fast in climate matters.
No, not being an alarmista here, just pointing out that we could get some more serious rain looking at the forecast graphics at Baja Weather.

La Paz is a city of 280,000+ residents, with a dry, hot and extremely arid climate throughout the year. It is part of the Baja California peninsula, famous for its beautiful beaches and spectacular landscapes combining the desert and the Sea of Cortez. The only mosquito present in the area is the Aedes aegypti, which transmits viruses such as Zika, chikungunya and dengue. All four serotypes of the dengue virus are present in Mexico, increasing the likelihood of developing severe dengue.

Today, 7th January 2022, we are 1 week into the new year... time fly’s :)! Excellent weather in La Paz, our contributor was out there before noon. Not to many folk around, holidays (yesterday Epiphany/Day of the Holy Kings) and a pretty severe uptick with Covid-19 infections may be the reason.

Briefly before sunset time - "official" sunset was at 19:57hr today - a few shots of the Ensenada de La Paz. Unfortunately is the zoom function not overly good on camera used so the further away images somewhat blurry, however, it display what we no like to show: smoking as it should not be from the smokestacks at the termoelectrica Punta Prieta - one of the 2 thermos electric power-plants in La Paz

15 years ago we posted about the famous Grand Baja Spa, that concrete chunk in photo. It’s still a more or less hibernating place. Never seen any movements when driving by or walking at beach. Is it a undercover white elephant...... ???
