hi disabled friends. here's list of minimal things you can do to increase your hygiene & comfort today, if possible ♡
put on at least 1 clean(er) article of clothing (ex: underwear)
brush your hair
rub your teeth with a towel
rinse your mouth with water
splash your face with water
grab a clean(er) blanket
flip your pillowcase to the side you haven't been using
change your posture, stretch
put on a gentle light, or draw the curtains
allow yourself at least a few minutes in a quiet environment
put on some soft background noise (ex: ambient sound, lofi)
try to pick out some pleasant sensory input (ex: birds chirping, how soft your clothes/blanket is)
and if you cant do any of these, dont guilt yourself. disability isnt a failing, and you're doing the best you can!
(yes, this post includes chronically ill and neurodivergent people! you're disabled too!)

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.
"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"
but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.
such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

Since the actual CDC is being blocked from posting updates on outbreaks, I will do it myself.
As of June 19, 2025, a total of 1,214 confirmed* measles cases were reported by 36 jurisdictions: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, New York State, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
There have been 23 outbreaks** reported in 2025, and 89% of confirmed cases (1,081 of 1,214) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 16 outbreaks were reported during 2024 and 69% of cases (198 of 285) were outbreak-associated.
*CDC is aware of probable measles cases being reported by jurisdictions. However, the data on this page only includes confirmed cases.
**CDC reports the cumulative number of measles outbreaks (defined as 3 or more related cases) that have occurred this year in the U.S.; states have the most up-to-date information about cases and outbreaks in their jurisdictions.
Please check your local health department to check on the risk in your area and follow their recommendations to avoid infection. Most cases are in the unvaccinated population, so if you are able to get the MMR vaccine and haven’t already, please reach out to your doctor to get that done

I'm kind of obsessed with the way sheep are handled. So efficiently. It always looks kind of unpleasant at first and then you notice the sheep are fine with it. They're always being flipped upside down and rolled down a chute or some shit. A shepherd will be tossing that thang in the air and spinning it like pizza dough & the sheep just lets it happen

shoutout to the time in 2021 I was having scary seizurelike episodes that sent me to the neurologist, after having barely slept all week due to being a nervous wreck over my symptoms and shit.
when I sat down to describe what I was going through to the (young, very soft spoken) phys assistant taking my notes I started audibly almost crying . The whole time he’s furiously working on a tablet thing that I assumed he was writing my symptoms down on
in the midst of me having a mild nervous breakdown during my monologue he slowly turns the tablet to me after closing whatever program he had open and just fuckin stare-smiles at me all placidly til I notice the wallpaper the laptop is set to— a lovingly decorated collage of Lord Farquaad from Shrek
once I noticed I stopped dead in my tracks and we sat there staring at another for a solid minute til I broke down wheeze laughing, upon which he picked up the tablet and scurried off wordlessly. I just sat there dumbfounded til the doc showed up. 10/10 doctor experience ngl
I didn’t own a phone at the time to get any proof so this my best artistic recreation

really glad that the NC government is spending its time on bills that completely misunderstand how cannabinoids work and will either have no effect whatsoever OR will completely ban the legal stuff and force most dispensaries to shut down. thanks guys

Want to do something to help stop the tradwife pipeline btw? Include mothers in your feminism. Hold space for women and others who are experiencing pregnancy or motherhood. Listen to their concerns about and unique perspectives on things like universal childcare, bodily autonomy, healthcare. Hold men who disrespect, sexualize, fetishize, shame or harass pregnant women and mothers accountable. Advocate for the right to nurse in public. Advocate for bodily autonomy within the healthcare field. Listen to women and birthing parents who have birth trauma. Listen to women who have undergone things like “the husband stitch”, or medically unnecessary c-sections, or who were given drugs without consent by doctors and nurses violating their birth plan. Advocate for resources to promote an end to the high rates of maternal mortality in the US. Get to know a woman who has children. Get to know the person she is. Know about her likes and interests and hobbies. Unlearn the stigma in your head which makes you see pregnant women as “ruined” or “tainted” and mothers as devoid of individual personhood.

“Medieval peasants couldn’t handle my Spotify playlist” but could YOU handle a medieval bard relaying the epic of Beowulf over the course of an hour? Humble yourself.
