My planner has little daily platitudes in it and I was really annoyed by this at first but then I realized
They aren’t even coherent

And now I love them. What piece of incomprehensible non advice will I get TODAY? Genuinely improves my mood

While I wait for my last Skjoldehamn wool to dry, it's a good chance to work on the Jasper cowl! My handspun tweedy gradient yarn just goes so well with these scraps of sock yarn.
Today I'm going to try and make my last Joann run! We'll see if there's anything left.

Sebhat - Sadai, Ethiopia
Sadai is the only one of these cities/towns that no longer exists; it was destroyed in the 16th-century Ethiopian-Adal War.

(pentiment spoilers) it's kinda fucked up that one of the first conversations in the game is andreas discussing literature with sister illuminata, who makes him notice for the first time ever that women are only peripheral in male-driven narratives... and then he goes off and marries sabine and the players never get to meet the real her, never hear her thoughts on the marriage or her feelings over the loss of their son or of andreas' abandonment of her and his subsequent 'death'. all we see is the distortions of her that andreas' mind invents, which by act II are warped by hatred:

like, neither of these portraits are the real sabine, they're just how andreas sees her in his fucked up little mind labyrinth. first, as a desirable, content, traditionally feminine woman, to make the prospect of marrying her feel more appetising, then a projection of all his own misery, to make her look and seem less palatable. that way, andreas' abandonment of her feels somewhat justified.
he also projects hostile dialogue onto her in act II, but we never know what she really felt, or what she really would have said to him from her own mouth. not even in letters. she is the dido to his aeneas. she is portrayed by andreas' mind as an undesirable, peripheral nuisance—even though she was forced into the marriage as much as (and arguably more than) he was—so that he can feel less guilty about abandoning her and dedicating himself only to his career instead of addressing the grief they both share. it's just as dido is portrayed by virgil as an obstacle in aeneas' fate despite being fated to be with him herself.

when andreas hears all this from illuminata and STILL treats sabine like that, the game itself becomes exactly what illuminata was talking about

The story of a marble worker Evrard Flignot from Brussels who devastated by the death of his wife built a pretty mausoleum for her in Cimetière de Laeken.
At first look inside, there is a mourner reaching out to an empty wall. But, once a year, on the day of the summer solstice, the Sun draws a light that recalls this love for almost a century.

Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they weren’t. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie ! Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.
