Last Month
This month was really a challenge for me. I really learned a lot in the class business of film, it was so much to soak in. I really never thought of it as a business but it is. The film industry kind of remind me of a stock market.Stock Markets goes up and down just like film do. You want to invest in the right movie so you can get money in return instead of wasting time and money. One of the things I really learned is you want to make profits out of everything you do in the industry rather its writing, building or thoughts. The more money you have the more people will take your business idea. One of my favorite parts of the class was learning how to negotiate a deal within an interview. At first, I had no idea you could even do that in a job interview. As a young man in school they always would say “Once you get the interview, just take the job you already know what they're paying once you apply.” that's not true. When the company offers you money try to take it higher bitter without forcing it.I also learned a lot about suing movies and rights. If the movie is a parody you're most likely going to lose the lawsuit more often than you would like. Even though they may have copied the structure of your movies it is legal because its covered under fan art.In conclusion there was a lot more I would like to learn ,but there’s not much time in this class. Overall I will say this, everything I learned in this class will be obtained in my head because I am learning about things I need to know before I step out there on my own.

Mastery
So, this month was kind of a challenge for me. I had problems trying to download Avid and my hard drive crashed on me. Even though those things happened to me I did learned a lot. I learned how to use Avid and started to like using the program at the end. I felt like there should be some short cuts to using the program, but unfortunately, they don’t. There is a lot more I want to learn about this program. I really see why the film industry use it. I can see why you should know Avid for the film industry world. One of things I found cool about Avid is, it's just like Adobe after affect, but it's for film instead. The program can literally take a video and cut it by frames, which is cool to me because I wanted a program that could do those kinds of things.  Even though there’s more to learn, I will say I am great full for the things I did learn. I just think it’s cool that everything I wanted to learn for this class, I learned. At the end of the day I will know how to use this program because I want to be an editor in the film world. I feel like working in post wouldn’t be that bad, I honestly believe it is a less stressful than post production. You just must know what you're doing. If I didn’t learn anything else, I learned one thing. If the characters/Actors are horrible there's many ways you can edit and make the film look good without the use of actors .Overall the class was good and I learned a lot .I will definitely take what I learned in class and apply it to my filmmaking in the future.

Month 9
Hello welcome to my mastery for this month. This Month I got the chance to break down the directing roll of the film “Planet Terror”. Actually watching the director break down everything . One of my favorite thing the director has control over in the movie is the way that things blow up and the choreography of people deaths. After seeing How detailed the killing roles were,  made you really enjoy the movie. Most of the stunts were real they just added an green effect on certain objects like the gun on the girls leg. Another thing I took interest in was the makeup effect they did to make the character look like there infected and there infection is moving. Even knowing that it is a  green room affect , I found it very interesting on how it came out . As far as the location go of this movie most of it was real, it’s just a lot of green screen use in each scene. This movie wouldn’t have been that effective had it not use its green screen effect. After going to Mexico to get b roll I see what they spent most of their money on in this film. Overall i thought the director of the movie did a great job , especially using the effects of the green screen. After watching the the BTS of this movie really had me thinking of our thesis film. My cohort choose to make a thriller horror film, where they will use some of the effect seen on this film. I feel like if we wanted to we could have made the film into a thriller action movie, it would just be less explosion and more visual effect. This month had to be the most confusing month due to all these changes. All these changes made the me think about how things will be on the real set. It maybe a lot of confusion going on ,but if everyone worries about themselves and do their job ,the film will come out good. I love to say “the best way to practical overcome challenges facing your film will be to work with others. You must Work as a team.” Yousee it all the time where you hear the directors say they wouldn’t have made as far as they did if they didn’t have a team. I really had a fun experience being the second AD.Being the second AD, you have to be patient with your actor. The more you rush they are  the worst their performance is. So it always best to make sure your actor is satisfied with time, and ready to go when their time is called.Overall I had a good month and learned a lot . it really felt good actually shooting what we worked so hard for.

Mastery
So the short film I chose for the mastery was “Coin Operated”. It’s about a boy lifetime dream of going out of space. The thing that I found most interesting about this film is how they impacted a life span of a guy in under 5 min. It all started with a little boy who had a dream of going out of space . In the film he walks with his mother to a story and runs into a spaceship outside the covenant store. To get it to start up you have to pay five cents. The little boy paid the five scents and barely moved anywhere. The boy was sad it didn’t work, so he came up with an idea. His idea was to sale lemonade and save up every single cent until he has enough to blast off in the rocket. After saving up a lifetime worth of nickels , he heads to the same convent stores with the rocket outside of it. He puts the lifetime worth of nickels in the rocket machine. It takes a long time time to get the rocket ship to work. It took so long that the old man believed that all his saving of nickels was a waste. The old man sat there about to weep until he felt a different motion in the rockets. The rocket jets of to space with the old man in it . It ends with the old man skipping through the skies. Overall I thought the story was great . It had different meaning which I believe makes a film good. As for directing wise I think the director did a great job . Everything was well put together. I don’t think it was a scene in the film that wasn't meant to be in there. Well the hole film is animation, so when it came to lighting and things of that nature there's not much you have to worry about. I like how in the first scene they made you connect with the little so you feel what he’s feeling. Another thing that I liked about this film was it didn’t have any dialogue. You can understand how they feel and what they said through the motion of each character. The sound of the film was amazing. It was mostly symphony music playing in the background. Music played a good part of this film ,due to the fact that there's no dialogue . Most of the music was played off the emotions of the boy character, it went fairly well..

I have to say, Storytelling Techniques and Technology class has the most informational/Entertaining class I have taken yet. This class really showed me the details of each thing film. In this course we went into detail over thing up to this class. We learned things from three-point lighting all the way to setting up the cameras. The most interesting part to me was setting up the camera and using it for a dolly shot. There was a moving shot I would like to use. The move in shot moves the background, while the foreground stays the same.  I personally like the class because it was more hands on. I thought it was cool to work on another film. Working on another film really was helpful. Working thesis showed me what we should and shouldn’t not do as class. Working on set was also gave me an eye opener on what I do in the future on as real set. In this course it was a lot of psychological thinking, we had two assignment that made you think outside the box. Our first project was the recreation project, this is when you have a photo that is clearly photoshoped, and you must make it without using any editing programs. The photo that my partner and I had, were two black forks giving off a silver reflection on a black glass. Another challenging part of the phot was the gradient background. It was kind of tough but you had to shine the light on just right so it could give off the gradient look. For the reflection we bought a black piece of glass and some silver metallic spray paint to give off the reflection of silver. Overall, I enjoyed this project because it made you think all the way down to the last detail. The second project was the emotional video. My experience with the emotional video was great. I personally thought that the emotional video was the easiest. It was good working with people who were willing to help. The video is about any emotion you choose, long as there no brand words or sound you’ll be okay. The video my partner and I did was “Embarrassment”. Embarrassment is about a guy who has an extremely jealous girlfriend. She so jealous that when helps a woman who drop he get bets up. For this assignment I wanted to give my audience a switch. Instead of the man beating the woman, the women beat the man. The reason why I set wrote like this is to bring awareness to the domestic violence that’s brought to men too. In conclusion this course has taught me a lot about myself and the people I work around. For me I learned that I have sometimes being patient and listen to others can help before jumping in doing things. You must be willing to work with our peers to make the project come to life. In the real world it doesn't matter who you don’t like, it your job you have to work with them because that’s what your paid to do.

Experimental film making has been nothing but teachable moments. This class has really help me find what position I would like to pursue in film making. As I still want to Direct films in my life, I found another position that seems to take my interest. The Assistant Director position is film tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, preparing daily call sheets. I find myself good with working with others as wells keeping time. We also had a special guest come in and gave us insight on being an Assistant Director. He also expanded on why everything must be in place at a timely manner. The most important thing I grab from the guest speaker is the AD you’ll have to go the extra mile, and sometimes won't get thanked. In this class I also learned lot about the set up on set like lighting. I learned how to calculate waters and how to plug them in safe and correctly. As the class went on, we touch on using the right lens and what angles we should use. We also learned how we could break the 180-rule due to a valid reason. Each week we had a six second video to do it was great to see what ideas my classmates came up with. I think I finally found out why our teacher made us do this. Other than making each other laugh with the creativity, he focused on the video having a story. So, with Personally, I feel like this class helped me find what position I would like to work as I proceed with my film career. Finally, learning the lighting aspect side that was taught was great as well. I can’t wait to see what the next class has in stored for me next month.

I really enjoyed the class Directing Talent. I learned a lot about directing actors. In this class I didn’t know that you had to talk to actors a certain way. For example, some actors take offense to what directors say and do, and in this course a lot of actors will not want to do the project. I felt like the use of the right verbs when speaking to actors in this course was taught to us very well. Taking this course I also learned how to act. Acting was difficult to me at first because, I personally wasn’t use to being on that side of the camera. Not to mention my memory of lines wasn’t all that great. Later on in the class, with some practice I was able to pertain the lines that was given to me on any script. Being a director you have to know the importance of blocking for actors and your Camera operators. I learned that spacing and angles are very important in this class. If you don’t block and reverse your project will take longer, and it wont look as good as you would like. I find this class very entertaining and informational. I also like how the instructor broke down each category of directing. I personally took interest in the family comedy section of the class. The reason why I enjoyed this genre is relationship you see with family’s on screen is really how my family is in reality. So with that being said Personally, I feel like this class helped me find what genre of movies I would like to work with and make. Last but not least actually learning the business aspect side that was taught was great as well. I can’t wait to see what the next class has in stored for me next month.

After finding out that we had to do a short film with limited resources. I took the initiative to go out my way and go on YouTube to see if that was possible. At first, I really did not think it could be done, but then I stumbled upon a low budget film called Parapraxis (2013). Parapraxis is an error in speech, memory, or physical action that is interpreted as occurring due to the interference of an unconscious subdued wish or internal train of thought. In this film they utilize great cinematic elements, but also lacked in some of the cinematic elements.
For the film, Parapraxis it really does not have a logline. The Premise of the film of the had to have been a horror/ thriller. You can tell that the film would have been in one of those genres due to the tone and colors of the dark film. Basic dramatic structure was used in the short 5-minute film. It was about a guy had the illusion that his girlfriend was cheating on him with his friend. He chased after his friends through a couple scenes, and then caught him. He caught him to only find out that his friend he was chasing was his girlfriend. Overall it was a good story, but I found the denouement to be very confusing.
Finding the Production design in this film seem to be very simple. It started off with this redheaded British man who taking off his suit from work. For the most part the costume they used were mostly casual clothing for cold weather. Clothing like jeans, scarf, and a thick jacket. In this Film the guy who was getting cheated on had quite a bit of props. He used things like a cutting board, knife, sink. He also interacted with actual vegetables like eggplant and red pepper. In this film it doesn't seem like they didn’t really care about hair and makeup.
The film cinematography was overall great. They were shooting at night and I was very impressed with how the quality of the camera was. The camera quality was very clear. One thing the cinematographer, grip, and editor should have on was lighting. With the lighting in the it was kind of hard to see the actors face. I was also impressed with the camera's operations. Everything was so smooth even on the transition. The editor did a great job on the color effects of the movie making it dark. The editor used a dark blue tent for intense moment. Sound seems to be the most important part of this film. The whole movie starts off with dark music played from an orchestra. while the film and was rolling and the orchestra playing there is voice over coming from the main characters view. I like how, the more the story got intense the more the voiceover did too.
In conclusion it thought the overall film was great especially for a film that really did not use the much money. At the end I was impressed with the camera quality and sound. Even though the cinematographer, grip, and editor should have worked on lighting I thought the film was good. To be honest I thought that the film Parapraxis exceeded its expectations. For the film I will be assist planned on using everything I learned so far this month in class and chapters I've read. I plan on using a lot of cinematic elements to make the film look better. For the film that I will be working with I want really work on sound, story, lighting and the visual effect. I just feel like these elements are going to help make the film better.
The best way to practical overcome challenges facing your film will be to work with others. You must Work as a team. Most film directors wouldn’t have made as far as they did if they didn’t have a team. In the real world it takes a team to film a film. It also took a team to finalize an idea. I know it may be hard to come up with creative Ideas to make a film happen, but I believe my team and I can do it. Overall, I cannot wait to start the project. I feel like it is going enhance my team skills as well as understanding the use of cinematic elements. I am also preparing myself for the critiques as well. I do like to go off the saying “it is going to get ugly before it gets good.”

My intent for the next twelve months, is to learn all the ins and outs, ups and downs in filming and beyond that to one day become a Master in the film production field. My name shall scroll before many as movies display their critics, I am that young film student who has the desire and passion to learn everything in the film program here at Full Sail University. I have high expectations for this University and myself, in that I will absorb all that is shared and will apply all taught strategies for this career I am pursuing.  I believe Full Sail will cultivate in me the person I desire to be come through relentless assignments, hands on activities push me my creative juices, my skills, and develop my craft to the next level. In the twelve months, I expect my beliefs, thoughts and preconceived ideas regarding this filming program will develop into greatness, from the basic to mastery in every aspect of film. One of the things that I would like to learn initially, the roles people play and the position on the set. Need I forget, the stage equipment, its use and its purpose also at the forefront of my questions.  Secondly, I do expect to learn from this program and all of its teaching.  I welcome the business aspect side that will be taught and learned in film production. I want to learn what it takes to make these films come to life. Being that dedicated, committed, hardworking individual that preservers, will yield a great filmi producer.   It is also my goal, to create a few short films to better my portfolio while here at Full Sail.. Within the next twelve months my journey will be tedious, exciting, as well as fulfilling. It is my desire to intern with well renown film companies, and to also have enough great work to enter in a film festival. After graduating from Full Sail University, it is my dream to work for a big-name studio and grow greater in my mastery of filming. While creating films I have the dreams of winning big film awards such as the Oscars and one day owning my very own studio. Remember my name, my desires, and aspirations.Greater `things shall I do!
