I know you're a lonely woman,
And I love you
But someone else is waiting,
And he owns you
If he should ever wake up
Be sure your story is straight, love
If you talk in your sleep,
Don't mention my name
If you walk in your sleep,
Forget where you came.
Elvis performed at the Curtis-Hixon Auditorium in Tampa, Florida, at 2:30 and 8:30 pm. He wore the Navy Blue Two-Piece suit with the Red Armadillo at the 2:30 show, and he wore the Navy Blue Two-Piece suit with Multi-Colored Arrows at the 8:30 show. The afternoon show was recorded on Soundboard.
If you could watch Elvis performing only one song many times in different concerts, what song would that be?
Mine is "Trying to Get You" (at least if that wish were given to me at the present moment).
Elvis recorded this song at Sun Records on July 11, 1955 and over the years he soulfully sang the tune in concerts after the 7-year break during the Hollywood era, starting from the '68 Comeback Special. Then the song was a part of his 70s concerts setlists, being one of the songs featured in Elvis's last TV Special "Elvis In Concert" as part of the live concerts recorded for it in June 1977.
Let's stick with the songs he did perform often, that would make 50's songs Elvis kept in his setlist in the late 60s and through the 70's.
From the live album "Elvis In Concert" recorded during concerts in Omaha, Nebraska (June 19, 1977) and Rapid City, South Dakota (June 21), as part of Elvis' last TV special with the same title as the album, both posthumously released in October 3, 1977.
Elvis performing this song always leaves me, like... breathless. I would love to be in the audience each time he performed it live. ✨
With Elvis in the army, and he and Colonel Parker were miles apart, the Colonel came up with another ‘promotional idea’. In cooperation with a German magazine, he gave four girls to win ‘an afternoon with Elvis’, and boy – they had the time of their life.
Sandi Miller (gate girl): "This is Elvis looking at some of the photos we had taken of him. We always gave him copies of everything we took. That's me looking over his shoulder"
