i feel like sokeefe shouldn’t/can’t get together until after the neverseen problem is gone, because keefe just isn’t going to be able to let himself be around sophie because of his mom and everything else… i also think that it’s going to take something big for sophie to realize how she feels about keefe (unlocked spoilers: maybe it’s the letter? i feel like it’s a possibility, especially if book 9 is the last book)

okay so in the midst of my thinking i realized something. for a while in lodestar, everybody thought “the lodestar initiative” that lady gisela was doing was her version of project moonlark. i can’t find it in the book but it’s on the back of the hard copy.

“sophie tried to bury the theory deep- lock it away with all the other things she didn’t want to think about. but the idea had already dug its claws in deep. so had the bigger, scarier question it raised, echoing around her head on auto repeat. if the lodestar initiative was the neverseen’s version of project moonlark… did that mean keefe was meant to be her nemesis?” (lodestar, the back of the hard copy)

and then… i was rereading it and came across this.

a lodestar is any star that can be used as a guide.

and… MAJOR UNLOCKED SPOILERS!!

but keefe specifically says that his new ability could serve as a guide [to lady gisela] as to who has abilities and who doesn’t, in order for her to take control.

i have no idea what t the implications of this are but oh my god???

okay i feel like i haven’t seen anybody talk about this so i’m gonna be stupid for a second. i may be hallucinating, but i feel like at some point in lodestar (like the scene where the keeper gang sleeps over at dex’s) someone says like Keefe was designed to be the opposite of project moonlark. and i feel like we don’t talk about that enough?? like?? he’s meant to be sophie’s nemesis or something?

like on one level this makes his friendship/relationship? with Sophie that much better but also like, maybe it could explain why Keefe reacted how he did with Sophie’s enhancing during unlocked.

i don’t think lady gisela knew about all the details of Sophie/project moonlark in general, considering the council didn’t, but idk, something just isn’t adding up

anyways pls tell me if you have thoughts bc this just popped into my head

inside you there are two wolves: one of them is super excited for the adaptation and can’t wait to see it! it’s deeply happy about the current events and is very hopeful for the future. the other side is deeply afraid the adaptation will ruin your childhood coping mechanism and destroy your connection to the characters you’ve (unhealthily) projected onto since you were 10. you are a conflicted keeper of the lost cities fan.
