This is all really funny to me because Jonsa theories actually predate the show by years. Even fanfics of them predate the show. And back then people weren't as hostile towards such ideas and they weren't harassed for it. Just like the dark!Dany theories. Jonsa theories aren't a product of the show but actually the books. The only thing that changed is the popularity of the ship come season 6 and seeing them be together on screen as well as Sophie and Kit's chemistry. And with it ofc came more hate and hostility from the antis.

They Jonsa antis know deep in their souls that Jonsa will happen and it will ruin all their mediocre theories.

Also, funny how much they think and talk about Jonsa, we've been living in their minds rent free for years.

Eh. I don't think they're so sure about it but they do hate the existence of the threat. It doesn't help that Jon/Sansa had more chemistry (however you define it) than Jon/Dany on the show. Even when it didn't become explicit in canon, the whole of the last season was framed around a Dany/Jon/Sansa triangle - even in camera shots. And ultimately, showwise Jon killed Dany...for Sansa's survival. Two things they absolutely cannot accept. They cling to the idea that the book ending will be different.

However, if you consider that the book is different from the show, ADWD ended with Jon dying or at least falling unconscious. He has not met either of these characters yet because we haven't gotten the next book. It's a Schrodinger's Cat situation. So the threat remains there too.

We have gotten away from the fandom focus with the show ending and no new book in sight. However, you do see the spillover of the ship war into the ho/td fandom with Team Black vs. Team Green in more subtle ways. It's more Dany vs. Sansa but its roots come from the ship war and GoT making them adversaries.

Of course, it's not just Jon/Dany shippers that hate us, there are also Jon/A*ya, Sans*n and Sanr*ion shippers. Because of our meta pointing out that Jon knows little to nothing about Val we've also stepped on Jon/Val shippers' toes. And the BNFs who tend to be neutrals think we're beneath them because if Jon/Sansa were to happen they would've realised it already. Yes, because everyone saw King Bran coming.

So while Targies do see us as a threat and are the loudest in the fandom, we've been largely seen as a joke and delusional in a way that other ships have not been mocked to this degree. But we also toppled over the status quo. We disturbed the somewhat peace that existed in the highbrow meta fandom. They think "We were here first. Who are you and why are you here?" Were there some stupid posts? Sure, but tell me which fandom doesn't have them. Some of the people who have written the most baffling posts have become BNFs.

They mocked us for our Pol!Jon theories, but tell me how that is worse than watching every defining characteristic of Jon stripped away so that he kept repeating two lines in season 8 just to obscure Dany's fall arc? At least we dove deeper into the moral ambiguity of his book character that the general fandom barely did.

We disturbed the peace by questioning pre-existing theories and being loud about it. Various sections of the fandom hated that and saw us stupid for it.
