"I think 'torture porn' as a label is really alarmist and reductive and it's not quite the same as Satanic Panic but it has a similar moral hysteria around it where I feel like that term is most often applied by people outside the horror genre, by the larger film cinephile community, to kind of shit on a particular movement of horror at a particular time that isn't especially new, that isn't especially immoral or gross or violent or reprehensible, it just got everybody clutching their pearls for a specific reason and so I have personally decided to excise it from my vocabulary when it comes to horror film criticism."
Andrea Subissati on the topic of 'Torture Porn,' The Faculty of Horror podcast. Episode 101.

Just wanted to hear you out! Thought you might like to discuss.
I am simply tired of “feminist” hot takes that are so heavily off the mark and disregard any evidence to the contrary to create so-called ~empowered character arcs in order to uplift narratives that either abuse women or in which women are the abusers
