Please don't forget Armenians
Today is Armenian genocide remembrance day. On april 24, 1915 started mass deportations of hundreds of Armenian intelectuals and community leaders, who were (most of the time) eventually killed. Armenian women and children were systematically r//ed and forcibly converted into islam. There were more than 2 milion Armenians in ottoman empire prior to ww1, 1,5 milion of them were viciously killed. Three millennia of Armenian civilaziation in eastern Anatolis was fully destroyed. Turkey today refuses to acknowledge genocides of christian minorities in early 20th century.
Do you know that mass ethnic cleansing of Armenians in ottoman empire inspired Lemkin to coin the term 'genocide'?
Last year in september azerbaijan allied with turkey initiated a war against Armenia. More that 5000 Armenians were murdered, thousands of Armenia families had to live their ancestrial land to not get murdered. There are hundreds of vids on internet where armenian p.o.w.s are tortured. Recently azerbaijan opened a "museum" displayind dead or dying Armenians and kids were allowed to visit it.

Please educate yourself on Armenian genocide. You can also donate here to help Armenia. Thanks for reading!!

yes critical analysis of media is super valuable but I think suspension of disbelief isn't practiced enough
"the beginning relied so much on fate/chance meetings/a bizarre set of circumstances that could have solved the conflict if avoided" babe that's an inciting incident

Hello everyone! I’m making a post on behalf of my friend, who doesn’t have a Tumblr.
She is a 2-Spirit Inuk artist who is fundraising to access vital medical treatment for chemical burns and resulting pain & complications.
She’s been struggling to receive accessible care in a racist medical system, and she needs our support.
Donations will also pay for transportation to & from the hospital for treatment, as well as basic necessities like her phone bill.
She was recently unable to pay and therefore couldn’t handle her medical needs because she had no access to a phone.
It would mean the world to me if you could spare anything to help her. I am sharing the link to her GoFundMe, as well as a PayPal info for direct donations. She’s in Canada, so if you’re donating from the U.S, your donation will even be a little more in CAD than USD!
People often apologize for donating small amounts, so please believe there is no amount too small. If everyone who saw this donated a few dollars, her care would be covered in full.
Donating directly to funds like this is an immediate and impactful action you can take to support an Indigenous person in your sphere.
Donate if you can, and please share this post. I’ll be reblogging it throughout the week for visibility.
Thank you for your support!!!! ♥️

Storme Webber, a Black Sugpiaq/Choctaw Two-Spirit Lesbian artist and poet, photographed by Diné artist Will Wilson for his ongoing Critical Indigenous Photographic Exchange project. | 2018
Wilson employs a wet-plate collodion photographic technique, based on the nineteenth-century method that involves exposing and then developing a plate that has been coated in light-sensitive chemicals. He explores identity, the photographic medium as both art and science, and community. Wilson collaborates with his sitters, who determine their pose, clothing, props, and how they are presented. As a gesture of reciprocity, Wilson gives the sitters the original photograph, while retaining the right to print and use scans for artistic purposes. Originally, CIPX was Wilson’s way to work toward a re-imagined vision of Native people in response to historic photographers such as Edward Curtis and his The North American Indian (1907-1930).

I love that folks are being more accepting of autism, but I don't love that autism is being sanitized into a quirk.
There's a cute and acceptable form of autism on social media, and I don't see any indication that folks are remotely ready for discussing the rest of it, which contains all the uncomfortable things that impede a person's everyday life, require support, and make acceptance almost impossible—where the hygiene struggles, inappropriate social behaviors, involuntary movements and outbursts, meltdowns, and emotional dependence issues live. And the cuter and more sanitized the "good" autism gets, the more unacceptable the "bad" autism becomes.
