*goombella voice* That's God... he's the nasty little fucker that created this realm. Max HP is 50, Attack is 5, and Defence is 1. Watch out for that "Divine Wrath Hammer" attack! It says here that he draws power from his worshippers. Jeez! You'd think this guy would have better things to do than come here and attack us...

Reverse fantasy heartbreaker whose metatextual conceit is that it's somebody trying to invent Dungeons & Dragons from first principles in an alternative universe where the dominant mode of tabletop roleplaying is diceless storygames about gay catgirls talking about feelings.

A Primer for...
...the proper and Dignified Piloting of a Battle Mech by any Gentleman of modern taste and good conduct.
Firstly, sir, when ascending your 'Mech, seek in every wise to board from the Gantry, and not from the Mounting Rungs. This is by no means a Gross Breach of proper Conduct, but neither is it Befitting you, sir, to so Clamber like an Acrobat.
As an addendum to this, sir, it is Most Improper to remove your Waistcoat during Boarding: to remove one's Coat is of course Mandatory but the Waistcoat ought to remain on until it is Exchanged for one's Pilot Gear; we have heard most Unseemly Reports of young Gentlemen boarding their 'mechs in Nought but Shirt-Sleeves, keeping Coat and Waistcoat hung around their Necks like a Scarf while they did.
Secondly, dear sir, in no wise may you Thrash or Pound upon the Control Panel of your 'mech while awaiting its Activation. This is the most Coarse of Manners, you must be aware, and the Technicians shall be Most Perturbed if in such conduct you may Further Disable an already Maladjusted machine.
Now, sir, thirdly, as you are Made Ready for Battle it is in your Hands to do so in the fashion of a Civil Man; and below we shall enumerate such Habits as do befit such a Man:
There is no more Objectionable a Trait to a Gentleman than forever Peering and Squinting through his Range-finder; if one look does not Orient you as to your Targets, their Distance & Velocity, and so forth, sir, the Remedy for this is Practice, Extensively so, not to spend Half the Battle in looking for Wheresoever the battle may Be.
It is not the Conduct of a Gentleman to fire his Missiles with no Firm Lock; he may as well Write without Blotting Paper at hand, or Dance with no Music. And in each such Case it will be seen as Foolishness to do such a Thing. The "Blind Firing" of Missiles is as good as Wasting them; treat them, sir, like Missiles, and not like Auto-Cannon Shells.
Let No Gentleman who might claim any Good Standing be the pilot to make Initiation of Melee; however, let No Gentleman indeed be Helpless and Dumb-Struck in such circumstances. It is the Prerogative of any Pilot, dear sir, to Learn in great Depth the means of Mechano-Machy, but they are the Last Ditch, and ought Never be used save the opportunity Present Itself to you.

Superman, the film by James Gunn, is excellent, and hits all of the thematic notes I wanted out of a Superman movie. If you like the character in his classical form, or have never seen a good Superman depiction, I quite recommend it!

Do you have a specific strategy for coming up with Chapter Titles? They always sound really cool, “Petrichor,” “Ripples,” “Waves,” and “Torrent” are personal favorites
every time I name a chapter it is an attempt to recapture the transcendent experience I had reading these issues of Usagi Yojimbo for the first time

I yearn for the day that all story-focused rules-lite rpg designers read Wisher Theurgist Fatalist and realize that communication is violence.
That day is fast approaching.

it does still make me insane specifically how many queer people lovingly embrace astrology. I went to a poetry workshop yesterday that was genuinely quite good but also included an option to disclose astrology designations during introductions and so many people broke out some variation of "I'm a [x] sum but I have a [y] placement and it SHOWS" girl no it doesn't. that's meaningless correlation you completely invented the causation

game design gets more interesting once u stop thinking of rules as passively facilitating player expectations, and start thinking of rules as proactively building the experience of play itself

There's an evil twin to "has only ever played Dungeons & Dragons and thinks all tabletop RPGs are as complicated as Dungeons & Dragons" that lives somewhere in the vicinity of "went straight from Dungeons & Dragons to rules-light storygames and thinks Dungeons & Dragons represents the high end of tabletop RPG complexity". Like, buddy, you have no idea.

in phrygia alexander the great came upon two oxen tied to one another with a rope, running tirelessly in circles. they were literally tied to nothing except each other, and as they ran they looked sort of like a whirlwind, or the blade part of a blender. alexander said to a townsman "why are these oxen tied together" and the townsman said "i dont know". alex (thats what his friends called him) said "what will happen if anybody undoes this knot" and the townsman, now visibly annoyed, said "i literally Do not know." there was an implicit 'so stop asking' attached, & big lexi (thats what i call him) was socially adroit enough to catch that. so he stepped toward the spinning heap of ungulate and drew his sword and to be honest he flinched several times while trying to psych himself up to cut the rope. he was scared of hitting one of the oxen (stupid plural ftr). anyway he finally did it, he cut the rope and the oxen kept running, they just kept running in circles at a perfectly even pace like satellites around an invisible point. and xander (nobody calls him that) said to the townsman "why are they doing that" and the townsman gave hima nasty look thta said it all. and the oxen kept running.
MORAL: the oxen can be used to model a rudimentary n-body problem
