"Hail, Miss Tremaine, and well met. What brings you to Olympus, then? Has Chiron arranged another of those demigod tours?"

"I am not surprised. Not many have. Horme is the spirit, or daimon, of impulse or effort to do something; of energy, in short."
"But the thing that concerns me is that, in the context of war, hormê is a violent movement- an assault or attack. And with this war coming on..." She stops, realizing some of what the demigod had said.
"Your friend never spoke of any of this?"

Artemis smiled a little. Smart wording, that was, although she wondered: did the girl have something against her father? "I am glad of it."
Eliana. Clever. "Daughter of the sun," she repeated. "Well met, Ailiana."
"Hello, is anyone there?"

"Apollo, you know that's not true. I helped Mother give birth to you. You just can't stand being the younger twin."
"Oh, spare me. My girls, as you say, and I are not damsels in distress for you to save on your frankly ridiculous chariot. And it's a good thing that you didn't; your limericks would no doubt make them feel worse."
+askincognitofred
"Really, Apollo? Must you be so immature?"
"And that haiku is completely untrue. I would never plead for help, much less yours."

"Good gods, Apollo, stop being an idiot and leave the poor demigod alone."
Apollo: If Percy doesn’t want you, I’ll be happy to take his place
Nico: ……
I just think The Child of Hades would be cute with the sun god. Imagine Apollo lighting up Nico’s world. I’m probably going to make more sloppy doodles.

"Oh, your father is Apollo?" That explained things. "Then, young niece, it is a pleasure to meet you too. I hope you're less of an idiot than your father."
"What did you say your name was?"
"Hello, is anyone there?"

Hecate and Nemesis- Artemis wasn't surprised at those. They were goddesses who liked being on the winning side. But Aphrodite? One of the twelve gods of Olympus?
"Dear gods, Aphrodite?" she murmured.

"No, absolutely not. Excuse me- have we met?"
She tried to gentle her tone; she usually didn't bother, preferring to be blunt instead, but the girl was obviously nervous, though Artemis had no clue as to why. Was she really that intimidating? And what was the aunt business all about?

Loyalty, Artemis thought. Loyalty is a good thing in a demigod, and so is bravery and self-sacrifice. She made a mental note to watch this Castor boy closer.
"I will be waiting, then." She paused. "I suppose I'd better do some research of my own. Did Horme say anything else? Any other gods that are taking champions?"

Ancient moon priestesses were called virgins. ‘Virgin’ meant not married, not belonging to a man - a woman who was ‘one-in-herself’. The very word derives from a Latin root meaning strength, force, skill; and was later applied to men: virle. Ishtar, Diana, Astarte, Isis were all all called virgin, which did not refer to sexual chastity, but sexual independence. And all great culture heroes of the past, mythic or historic, were said to be born of virgin mothers: Marduk, Gilgamesh, Buddha, Osiris, Dionysus, Genghis Khan, Jesus - they were all affirmed as sons of the Great Mother, of the Original One, their worldly power deriving from her. When the Hebrews used the word, and in the original Aramaic, it meant ‘maiden’ or ‘young woman’, with no connotations to sexual chastity. But later Christian translators could not conceive of the ‘Virgin Mary’ as a woman of independent sexuality, needless to say; they distorted the meaning into sexually pure, chaste, never touched.

"You must be rather brave," Artemis admitted. "To do that for your lover. Have you reunited with her yet?" She was mostly against relationships as a principle, but she pitied the girl; she must have been distraught.
"Horme?" It sounds familiar to her. "What the Hades is a daimon doing taking a champion?"

My intention is to tell
of bodies changed to different forms;
the gods, who made the changes, will help me,
or so I hope,
with a poem that runs from the world's beginnings
to our own days.
