With the changing of the new passage I found it slightly hard to understand the new words in the way that they were put. But as I kept reading I realized they could maybe make sense. The first line “Ahab’s soul, a wild, mystical, sympathetic”. This quote may not make sense with grammar but if you tweak it to “Ahab’s soul, one that’s wild, mystical, and sympathetic”. Just with two words adding to this like it slightly makes more sense. This new line shows kind of how Ahab is, he is wild, hunting whales while only having one leg all while being captain of this boat. Ahab can be seen as mystical by this urge of finding this while whale, for him it’s more of revenge against the evil that stole from him, evil being the whale that took him from being able to stand tall and manly on two legs. In my eyes Ahab isn’t sympathetic but I as a reader do feel sympathy towards him, him being a leader and still fighting for what has been taken for him and living each day figuring out new ways to live makes me feel for him. He didn’t ask for this to happen to him but instead of sulking and making others do everything for him, he figures out new ways to live.

The next quote I don’t feel like I could relate to this passage but maybe in the whole books sense. Saying “Greedy eats I learned the quenchless feud seemed mine” Ishmael is seeing how maybe they all might be getting a little greedy with how much they are taking from defenseless animals, and the feud between the land “people” and the “sea” people. The clear divide between the two, like a blue color worker and a suit and tie business man.

“Against whom I and all the history of that murderous monster”. This murderious monster could either be them, the ones killing the whales. Or the whale who took from his captains source of movement. His history with people who take things from him all his life.

The word [voyager]

“At the foot of these fairy mountains the [adventurer] may have been descried the light smoke curling up from a village whose shingle roofs gleam among the tree.”

3) To mean the word voyage shows someone traveling especially in the olden times. A person on a boat with a fleet of people behind him helping navigate the sea. But when adding the word adventurer I see it as more of a person finding new things and moving there way through this world on there own and discovering things they love.

4) In the beginning of the passage we know this as a traveler someone who will move and find new places and things. So we think we will have someone like that. And in it ends up contrasting with who Winkle is in the whole story.

The word [headless]

“Such is the general purport of this legendary superstition, which has furnished materials for many a wild story in that region of shadows; and the specter is known, at all the country firesides, by the name of the [decapitaed] Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.”

3) To me the word headless shows a figure standing there without a head. Decapitaed on the other hand shows a human in a guillotine about to get there head chopped off. Which doesn’t show what the meaning of the story is.

4) Without the word “headless” I wouldn’t see the story in the same way. I am creeped out about a headless horseman i’m not creeped out by a person in a guillotine.

In my personal space (my dorm room) an indigenous thing would be the armoire ,it was here before I moved in and I did not personally bring it here. Something colonizing in my room are the pictures, lamp, water bottle, etc., that I brought that are shown in the picture. I chose these two pictures because the pictures I brought mean something to me and make me feel at home when seeing them, I chose the armoire because it’s big and something I feel is necessary in this my space. One being mine and another being Oswego they compete in the way that one is showing me home and sadness in a way and the other is showing future life here in oswego and making new friends.
