PLACES YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS WHEN YOU VISIT BAGUIO CITY
Baguio City is the chosen place for our “Retreat” where all Grade 10 students are involved. It is known as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines” due to its cool climate, which makes it a popular destination for tourists seeking relief from the heat of the lowlands. Baguio City is situated approximately 1,500 meters above sea level and is also known for its scenic views, pine trees, and beautiful parks.
On our experience during our trip to Baguio City, it took us almost 3 hours and 30 minutes while riding a bus. I suggest that you should travel on weekdays as there are not much traffic. During our first day in our trip, we saw different tourist attractions that you can only find in Baguio City. Some of them are the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Burnham Park, Mines View, St. Scholastica’s Retreat House, and The Mansion.

Burnham Park

Burnham Park is a public park located in the heart of Baguio City. It is known as the “Mother of All Parks” because of its large area and the activities you can enjoy with your family. One of the most popular attractions in Burnham Park is the man-made lake, which offers boat rides and paddle boat rentals to visitors. There are also bicycles you can rent for only 150 pesos which you can ride for 30 minutes. You can choose what kind of bicycle you want depending on how many persons will ride. Throughout the year, Burnham Park hosts several cultural events and festivals, including the Baguio Flower Festival, which is held every February.
The Mansion

The Mansion serves as the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. The mansion is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is open to the public for viewing, although access to the main building is limited. Visitors can explore the interior of the mansion, learn about its history and significance, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Although you will need a good camera because it is pretty far from the place you are only allowed to picture.
Mines View Park

To our visit in the Mines View Park, we saw a lot of stalls selling products and souvenirs that you can get to your family. We then realized that they all sell the same products and it’s just you to decide where to buy or how you will be sale stalk. They have keychains, magnets for refrigerators, clothes, wooden crafts, and more. From here, we also saw the Cordillera Mountains and Wright Park.  Mines View Park also offers other attractions such as horseback riding, photo ops with St. Bernard dogs, and food stalls selling local delicacies. It is also a popular spot for watching the sunrise or sunset, and for taking photos with the famous giant wooden sculpture of the Ifugao tribesman, which is located at the park's entrance.

Here is one of the most famous spots of every people who visits Mines View Park, Baguio City. It is called the Mines View Observation Deck and from here you can see the beautiful scenery and the houses surrounding it.
Lourdes Grotto

Meanwhile, our visit to the Lourdes Grotto was a bit exhausting because of how high you need to climb up before reaching to the Grotto itself. However, it will all disappear when you see the scenic view of the city of Baguio and the surrounding mountains from the top. At the top, there is a chapel where you can pray and a place where you can light candles.
Our three-day visit to Baguio City was a memorable part of our life as we became comfortable with the place like it is our house. Those three days stay where we can relax, enjoy, and forget for a moment the task we need to do when we go back to school are very important to us students who battles everyday with school tasks. We will surely cherish all the things we tried and did. And for you who wanted to visit Baguio City, we are sure that you will not be disappointed, you are going to enjoy it and your time will not be wasted visiting here.
