the problem with a lot of the conversations around monogamy i see is so much of it is about whether or not your partner should fuck other people and i think that's ultimately a super personal decision but the real problem with the monogamic ideal of relationships that so many of us internalize is that one person is supposed to fill every gap in your life and be able to do everything with you and be everything you need and like. that's bad for everyone involved

Gale Apologist and Defender FOR EVERRR - and yeah SC’s approach to the Gale/Peeta thing is so stupid because she could’ve held them as equals. She could’ve made a point of saying “these are young men who just exited adolescence. They’re traumatised and trauma manifests in both rage and desire for justice and the physical desire to let go and get away from what caused you pain” but she didn’t!! She needed to make the point about Gale being fire and rage and dark and Peeta being pure and light and peaceful. And that’s INCREDIBLY stupid

it would’ve been a better story if she’d held Gale and Peeta as equals, but it also would’ve been more nuanced and that’s not something that a) Suzanne Collins prioritizes and b) at this point I honestly doubt it’s something she’s capable of? not necessarily her fault she has the subtlety of a battle axe, YA is not a subtle genre and I don’t expect it to be. but also I would love for her to examine her own biases because they are very, very apparent in particularly the way she writes Peeta and Gale. her stories don’t exist in a vacuum and this fandom loves to pretend they do and that every writing choice is entirely unique and creative and isolated, with no outside influence by social constructs. which is not true.
