Peter Eisenman, House III, (Miller House), Lakeville, Connecticut, (1961-1971)
In his House III, Eisenman created numerous “unclear” overlapping situations resulting from the penetration of a cube by two smaller squares, one of which is rotated by 45 degrees.
Eisenman assigns this house to his formalist phase. Having previously oriented himself towards Le Corbusier and Terragni, He sought here to find a form of architechtonic expression which did not present function as it’s single and solitary purpose.
