Kind of funny to me that all the Carlos stans came into this season saying he’d be so much better than Alex and blow him out of the water yet the pace gap between them is 0.5 (when on average it was 0.2-0.3 to Logan), Alex has made q3 and points in each race whereas Carlos made a rookie mistake and crashed the first lap, hasn’t made q3 at all and his only point was due to dsqs (like Logan’s).

I’m sick to death of hearing “see! Accessibility benefits everyone, not just disabled people/mobility aid users/chronically ill people/etc!!” That shouldn’t matter. Even if the only people in the world that would benefit from an accommodation are disabled people, we still deserve it. I’m sick of non-disabled people constantly being centred and catered to with accessibility content. Every time someone makes an add-on to a post about an accessibility device or whatever, it just feels like they’re saying that our needs aren’t enough to warrant accommodations, it has to benefit non-disabled people too. We deserve accommodations no matter if non-disabled people can benefit from it.

And now for something completely different.

This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive EightYear Old Boy Syndrome).

So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.

If you have executive dysfunction, you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.

And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.

One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.

okay so max verstappen got a 1 place grid penalty and a penalty point for that quali outlap incident

this typically gets a reprimand btw

but let us look into why the penalty is fuckin stupid

Evidence nr 1: the fia's own document's explanation

everything up until the last paragraph is fine cuz its simply describing the situation (although i have Some issues with it but thats not the point of this)

the final paragraph quite clearly is arguing AGAINST a penalty btw

not only does it tell us that this was Not a typical situation of impeding as neither of them were on a push lap, which means that neither got fucked over on timed laps (this is why its typically a reprimand)

"it is clear that car 63 had clear visibility of car 1" which means george not only Saw max' car but also could very clearly see he was slow and as he wasnt on a push lap could have very clearly just passed him

so what exactly is the penalty for?

all this proves is that if you push on your out lap you can complain about other drivers on their own slower out laps and get them penalties lmao

the fia wont even penalise actual push lap impedings, FOR EXAMPLE from spa this fuckin year, zhou guanyu impeded max in q1 on his push lap but the fia just brushed it aside

but max gets a gridpen And a penalty point for an outlap impending that could have been avoided by george cuz He Could Clearly See Him Up Ahead in that corner lmao okay dude

Evidence nr 2: the fia cant even decided what tf they are penalising max for

they keep yapping about only impeding in the reasoning but the penalty category given is "driving unnecessarily slowly"

which ???

didnt yall just clearly state that max was slow cuz he was letting other cars past him?

why are you yapping about impeding if thats not even why you called him into the stewards office?

Evidence nr 3: the 1 place grid penalty precident

An Impeding incident has quite literally never gotten a 1 place grid pen

A below delta has literally not gotten anyone a penalty, 17 drivers were under invest after sprint quali for that btw and noone got anything

For impeding the penaties are as follows:

3 place grid pen if its a push lap impeding (however as i just fuckin pointed it out they dont even do those correctly)

a simple reprimand

The only other times (correct me if im misremembering this) that the fia have ever given out 1 place grid penalties have been for small crashes

this was checo in 2020 in an fp2 session where he got this pen for a CRASH

the fia has decided that a crash that had a clear person at fault is on the same level as a small impeding moment on an out lap

Evidence nr 4: incidents that the fia thought werent as bad as this max incident

aka stuff that got only a reprimand or got brushed off completely

monaco crash where checo's car got absolutely demolished by the haas and the haas was clearly at fault

baku crash where checo and carlos crashed (carlos crashed into checo but ig that whole thing can be argued even though i think thats stupid)

sainz driving over put entry lines that has always been a slam dunk penalty but some how he got away with it

merc changing tire pressure on the grid (a slam dunk penalty typically)

the whole fiasco at the start of the brazil gp

thats the one that pisses me off the most btw cuz not only did lando create an actually dangerous situation where he drive past recovery vehicles near the track where a fuckin car had just moments earlier slid

there were drivers on that grid that knew exactly what to do in the situation of an aborted start as they literally stood still, lando and the others who took off started driving without green lights (start infringement, which is usually a 5 second pen) were given a slap on the wrist for whatever fuckin reason

Conlusion: the fia can go fuck themselves

also fyi to the russell fans celebrating this penalty, i do hope yall realise that this sets a precedent of the fia being allowed to make up random penalties for shit

like im sorry but not only is that dangerous, but yall better hope the fia doesnt fuckin start targetting your boy

this penalty doc is breaking my brain, man. the penalty is for driving unnecessarily slowly but if george hadn't been there it would not have been penalised so you're not actually penalising driving slowly, you're penalising for impeding, but george wasn't actually impeded because he wasn't on a flying lap. and a penalty point too because. well. imagine if george had died.
