ok although i love the idea of light being horrified by having randomly fallen for this person who is below his standards(tm) my personal hc is that he’s actually just really into guys that look Weird As Hell. he likes freaky little guys who lick sugar off their hands like a horse and appear not to have slept for the past sixteen years. L on the other hand is into the human equivalent of vitamix blenders.

what i really appreciate about naomi misora is how quiet and mundane her self-hatred is. she's never loud about it, she isn't actively throwing herself off a cliff in self-destruction or screaming about how much she can't stand herself-- but you can feel the influence of it in every interaction we see her have with the men in her life. it's the reserved acceptance of her place as raye straight up atticwifes her; the stifled questions and desperation to prove her capabilities in the face of beyond's easy genius; the lack of a fight as she follow's L's baffling orders; the softness to light, in spite of her own caution, as he gently guides her to her death.

she isn't entirely unrealistic about her own abilities. she knows what she is physically capable of, acts on and analyzes through her intelligence even as she doubts its own existence. naomi's self-hatred is more so just a passive acceptance of herself as something lesser in comparison to the people around her, the simple conclusion that other peoples' feelings matter more and her own insights less, even when all logic and evidence points in favor of the validity of her side. her lack of self confidence isn't vicious, or violent. just an easy shift in priorities to make her life the one that doesn’t matter.

i like to think that Beyond Birthday's extremely exaggerated imitation of L's habits was actually completely accurate to how L acted in the past, and BB was just basing his act off of a younger, more unhinged L, which was lost when L got older or something.

So many of the things people point out about Zeke's "coping mechanisms" or "just how he is" come across super ND to me. Zeke's ear scratching is a legitimate stim irl for a lot of people. Smoking could also be considered self-stimulatory as well. He uses his interest in baseball as a way to bond with Colt, as well as giving Eren his mit. Also, his conversation with Armin shows so much disconnect and lack of understanding the people around him.

As a child, he was an introverted people pleaser, and throughout his life, he is easily manipulated. The way that Zeke acts would be indicative to me of more than only PTSD irl. A lot of what he displays is common for ND/autistic people, and someone having trauma doesn't necessarily rule that out. A large portion of autistic people have tons of trauma from their struggles in a world that does not allow them to be their natural self and punishes them for struggling to catch up to their peers, much like Zeke's childhood.

Zeke has a shit ton of trauma, but so does nearly every other character. I think the fact Zeke has these "weird" and "childish" behaviors compared to the other characters who have been through a lot as well means that something is fundamentally different about Zeke.

Basically, a lot of his behaviors are super familiar to me as an autistic person who has a shit ton of trauma. I want to clarify, though, that I think a lot of the other meanings to his behaviors can also be true along with being him ND. The neurodivergence would be underlying.
