What FC would you use if your character was a child? What FC would you use if your character was a teenager?
OOC: My issue is Chloe Bridges has very unique features. So it’s really hard to find a candidate for a FC at a younger age that isn’t Chloe Bridges xD Luckily, she was acting and doing stuff when she was a teen, so I could just use her older images for teenage version of her but anything below that and I’d have to resort to just written descriptions cause I don’t think there’s anyone else out there that could fit the same description. At least there isn’t anyone that immediately comes to mind.

Is there anything about your character that could be considered physically unattractive (not counting scars or anything inflicted by an external force)?
Tumblr media
OOC: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BECAUSE CHLOE BRIDGES IS A BABE.
Even if there was something that I would consider physically unattractive about her, Elena as a character would still believe herself to be the most beautiful person ever because she’s got all the confidence in the world. She would find a way to take that unattractive feature and make it work to her advantage.

How do you think Freddie feels about you?
Tumblr media
“I’m not sure. I like to think he likes me and I’m sure he does because he strikes me as the type of person who wouldn’t hesitate to let you know if he doesn’t. I’m the same in that aspect.”

freddiewatts‌:
When Elena emerged from the lift, a vision in lilac and sun-kissed skin, Freddie beamed, crossing the room to embrace her, lifting her easily into his arms and giving her a little spin, laughing, “God, I’ve missed you too, darling…” The fairy set Elena down again, gently taking her face in his hands to both discretely blend her blush with his thumbs and kiss her affectionately on the lips. “You’ve been gone ages,” he complained with an easy smile, “-and this place was all the worse for your absence.”
“I had to send flowers to myself,” Freddie teased, “-which isn’t nearly as much fun.”
Preening when Elena told him he was the most charming person she’d ever met and laughing at her usual brand of delightfully innocent honesty, Freddie offered his arm as he led her out through the lobby to the car waiting outside. “Why thank-you, love,” he said grinning, “-and I adore your dress. That colour is perfect on you.”
Freddie winked, “In fact, I’m very much looking forward to being the envy of everyone we meet tonight.”
Opening the back passenger door for the mermaid, he waited until she’d slid gracefully into her seat, then followed behind her. “Now, Birthday Girl,” he said, his eyes sparkling as he took her hand, “-I’ve two questions for you. Firstly, do you want to know where we’re going, or would you prefer to be surprised? And secondly, your present - would you like it now, or later?”
“Sending flowers to yourself? That does sound awful. The surprise of it would be gone completely. Unless of course you manage to forget what you’ve sent because you do it so far in advance that when it does arrive you’re pleasantly surprised and you’ve only written a cryptic message on the notecard so you almost remember that you sent it but not completely. Yes. I think that could be the only way of sending flowers to yourself nicely. Otherwise you might as well just buy them or pick them yourself and that’s that. Not as exciting though,” she rambled on as Freddie escorted her toward the car waiting by the curb outside.
She slipped inside, adjusting her dress as she did so that it wouldn’t get stuck beneath her and pull awkwardly. “Surprised! Naturally! I adore surprises so don’t tell me where we’re going. If anything, I might want to guess at where we’re going as well, though I’m a very bad guesser.”
When Freddie mentioned a present though, an odd gleam in her eyes lit up. “A present? For me?” As if the idea of it had completely slipped her mind and the concept of receiving a present was totally new to her. It was new, in fact, as this was her first real land celebrated birthday. She’d completely forgotten that gifts came with it. She’d received gifts before, yes, but they were for other things, other events that weren’t meant necessarily to celebrate her. This was was meant to celebrate herself and her birth and now she was to get a gift.
“Oh! I don’t think I could wait to receive the gift though! Is it small? Is it big? Is it alive?”

ianncardero‌:
The conditional response of forgiveness was apparent, and Iann accepted it.  Hell, if Elena never forgave him, then Iann wouldn’t be surprised.  She wasn’t obligated to do anything.  The only thing that mattered was getting that cat - soul - thing - back and safely with its rightful guardian.
“This is it,” Iann confirmed.  The building was sea-weathered, sitting on the edge of the promenade in between the other store fronts.  The beach lay on the other side and the boardwalk.  Taffy’s place was proud of its dilapidated state, festooned in sea shells like the walls were bedazzled, and dried seaweed hanging in bunches like decor from the windows, drift wood and old ship wood piled and formed into various structures.  Sand covered the stoop and everything smelled like the ocean.
“Taffy!  Saltwater Taffy,” Iann called out, banging on the front door.  “It’s Cardero, from Stonefruit.  Lemme in.”  About half a minute elapsed before an old woman - so old and stooped she was destined to only stare down at the floor, opened the door with a gnarled hand.
“You have someone with you? Ah - the mermaid!  She’s returned for her kitty witty katty watty.  Come in, come! Come,” she huddled backwards, motioning.
“Kitty isn’t going anywhere.  Come! I don’t have guests often.  Come drink with me and eat some cured salmon first.  It’s ready now.” She pulled out a bottle of hooch in a jug, and a plate of salmon.
Elena didn’t want to be polite and friendly to this witch, not until she was certain that her friend was still fine. She’d leave the cordiality to Iann.
She brushed past the witch, eyes darting around the room frantically. It was cramped and cluttered with all sorts of miscellaneous items, dried herbs and flowers hung from the ceiling, crystallized statues of coral displayed on shelves against the far wall, and the whole room was dimly lit, dust could be seen floating in the air through the light that filtered in through the grimy window.
She could not immediately see her companion and she walked further into the room she inclined her head this way and that, bending at her waist to look beneath chairs and the table that the witch had set. The smell of the salmon was potent as Elena crawled beneath the table, knocking into Iann’s legs and knees as she squeezed by them. Her head rose up from the edge of the table, eyes locking on the plate of fish and reached out to grab a bit, stuffing it quickly into her mouth before she returned to her search, now looking around a pile of books and old papers with edges yellowed from age.

“You just want me to have a dolphin tail like you so our babies would have dolphin tails,” he insisted, taking the steps down onto the beach as they hadn’t taken long to get there. It was still relatively cold though and he was not surprised that Elena had gone away from the winter to somewhere much warmer. “I mean, I could go deep, I think I could have cool shiney deep sea tail.”
When Elena asked how she was meant to know he frowned, boots getting covered with sand. “I don’t, I love you, but because we’re friends and I care about you,” Danny assured her, squeezing her legs beneath his hands. “I expect it feels how my Dad looks at my Mum and vice versa, but maybe you have to be open to it. You should be open to it, bet you’d be cute in a couple, you’re already cute so it wouldn’t be hard.”
Dany began to set Elena down on the sand, sure her dress would be sandy in seconds. “Probably not good enough, or had weird tails,” he joked, turning to look at her, pushing some of her hair from her face once more. It didn’t sound like she was scared anymore but her skin still felt funny because of the chemicals in the bath water.
“No, she didn’t like tease me, she just was disappointed, I don’t really show my wings,” Danny just gave a shrug as though it were not important. He hadn’t shown anyone but his family his wings since he was in high school, twelve years ago. It was an effort to use his glamouring abilities to hide them but he did it because otherwise he felt afraid and Danny couldn’t cope with that. “Oh no, mojo is like…being cool and capable of getting people to think you’re hot and stuff, you still think I’m hot, right? So I got the mojo.”
She thought about what he said, about being open to the idea of being in love. She’d learned that love was a spectrum. It wasn’t linear by any means. She loved her sisters, her pod, the friends she made on land, but it wasn’t that sort of love. It wasn’t the love that they wrote poems about, it wasn’t the kind of love that was profound enough to start a war. She’d seen it sometimes, in small glimpses on people’s faces when they looked at the person they loved. She’d heard it in their voice when they started to talk about that someone. She just didn’t know how they got there. At what point did the friendship sort of love turn into something else?
“Maybe,” she’d honestly been thinking a lot about love lately, especially since more and more of her pod were adopting landfolk ideals the longer they’d been staying in Soapberry. “I think I might be open to the idea of it... but I don’t know how to get there.” How was she supposed to find someone to love and once she did find someone, what if they didn’t feel the same about her?
Her feet sunk into the sand as Danny set her down and he pushed some of her still damp hair from her face. Her skin looked dull and had a sand-like feel to it and the freckles over her face were more pronounced against the dryness of her skin. “Definitely not good enough,” she agreed and started walked toward the water.
“That’s a silly thing to be disappointed about,” Elena dipped her feet into the cool ocean and instantly the skin around her feet felt less tight. She didn’t bother removing her dress because it was already soaked through. She also didn’t want to go too deeply into the water because she was still talking to Danny, so she only went until her knees were submerged and then knelt down so the water came up around her shoulders. “I’ve never seen your wings and I’m not disappointed. And yes, you are very hot, like a sauna. You’ve got loads of mojo,” she laughed, feeling more herself now that she was in the ocean and the salt water was surrounding her. “I also have a lot of mojo then because people think I’m hot and stuff.”

why do you find it hard to pick someone as your baby daddy?
Tumblr media
“There’s always something. One mer had crazy hair and I swear I saw a crab crawling in it, which is disgusting. Another one couldn’t even speak dolphin and I don’t like pretentious mers like that. Oh, and this one guy has been presenting himself to me for the last year and it’s just really weird that he hasn’t moved on by now. Like, get the hint. I said no like ten times already. Stop coming back.”

you spend a lot of time on land anyway, why not find a way to remain on land longer so you could care for a baby if it was born a fairy
Tumblr media
“I mean I could but why would I change my entire life like that? I mean, even if I found a way to stay on land longer, I would still have to go to the ocean, and then I’d suffer not being able to have my child with me all the time and being kept from the ocean, which is my actual life, along with my pod, which is my entire family. Not to mention I’m an elder now so I can’t just up and leave my pod for too long.”

“Oh yeah, if I were a merman I would be crazy bangable,” he agreed with a heavy laugh, looking down at his legs. “What kind of tail do you think I’d have? I’d want something shiney but that could just be the fae in me, what do most mermen like for tails?” Resistant to talking about things that were sad he was happy to detach and speak more generally about merfolk things than himself and kids. “Maybe if I were merfolk I’d have non-surface feelings about it, and I’d be down for a ritual. Can we do the ritual mating without the baby part?” he grinned, hoping it was some kind of merfolk ritual where like there were glowing fish or streamers.
When Elena said she didn’t understand it though he felt badly. It was clear Elena could love in a more generalised way so it wasn’t like she was devoid of the emotion but it seemed sad she might never understand romantic love because she just wasn’t aware of it. “What about it doesn’t make sense?” he asked her.
Danny did grow a bit defensive of Elena when she said merfolk had presented themselves to her, in his mind this being akin to a flasher with a trench coat walking up to women on the street. Maybe Elena could handle herself but it was an image he didn’t enjoy. “What kind of merfolk would be right to you? We could set you up on the dating apps. I have one, I went on a date with a cute faerie girl but she kind of yelled at me about hiding my wings and I ran away,” Danny laughed, mostly so he didn’t show how upset it had actually made him. “But I slept with someone on Valentine’s so I do have mojo left in me.”
“I think if you were a merman you’d have a dolphin tail, like me,” she smiled at him. “Sorry it’s not the shiny tail you were hoping for. I mostly see mers with dolphin tails, shark tails, there’s a pod of mers with orca tails but they’re kind of aggressive. I think the ones that have shiny tails are deep sea dwellers.” She’d never actually encountered many deep sea mers as her pod stayed relatively close to the surface and to the shore, only venturing the open ocean while migrating.
Elena shrugged and let her chin rest on his shoulder again, “I don’t know. How do you know you love someone? I know I love my sisters and my pod but how do you know when there’s someone you love more than the normal sort of love? Do you love anyone?”
“I’m not sure,” her brows knitted together as she thought about it. What was it about those mermen that made her refuse them? Surely they had been strong and capable of hunting and they’d passed the trials she’d suggested but at the end of it all she just couldn’t say yes. The mermen had been disappointed for a while but they just presented themselves to another mermaid and were readily accepted by others. Elena didn’t mind just having sex with them but not to make a child.
“A faerie girl made fun of you?” Elena blanched at the idea. “What a silly thing for a fae to do to another fae. You’d think she’d understand because she’s one of your kind. Ew. Disgusting. She left something inside you?” She had no idea what mojo meant.

“It’s okay,” he assured her, bouncing the mermaid on his back so she did not worry. They weren’t like exceptionally expensive or personal gifts, mostly just things to make her smile. That mattered a whole lot more to Danny than things did, as his own apartment evidenced in it’s sparsity.
Danny knew people could have sex and children without love but he liked the idea of it more when there was someone to love involved. It was probably his parents doing. They were still very much in love with one another, always flirting and hugging and kissing no matter how many of their kids were around. Danny liked that, he wanted someone to call beautiful and to make look like a mix of him and her.
“So for us to sleep together I should have been displaying my hunting skills,” he joked instead of confessing his silly ideas on romance. “Thrown like a spear or something?” Yet she continued and offered the notion that he would be a good mate and Danny laughed a little. Maybe he had the strength and hopefully he had satisfied her, and yeah, he could fish and set traps, but Danny knew he had a lot of emotional issues and well, there was one glaringly obvious issue.
“I don’t think I’d be too helpful to you, El,” he looked back at her, giving her a physically awkward peck on the lips, just because of their angles. “I’m a faerie, every chance if you had a baby they’d come out as a faerie and not a mermaid, wouldn’t help your pod at all. Besides…I don’t know,” Danny shrugged, bouncing her on him once more. “I wouldn’t be able to just leave my kid like that, it’s your way but not mine, even if I’m sure you’d be a great Mum, kid of an elder too, sure they’d turn out tough as hell, but I couldn’t do it, break my heart probably.” Once more he kissed her so she did not feel badly. What worked for Elena was fine too, it was her pods way and if it made her happy then he was sure she’d find someone else happy to oblige. “I actually met a selkie, he seems pretty tough, maybe you could make a baby with him?”
Elena didn’t feel too badly when Danny turned down the notion that he’d make a good mate. She agreed for the simple practical reason that if it were born a fae and not a mer and she was in the water during the birth, then surely the babe would die. “No, you’re probably right,” she returned, letting him know that she didn’t feel badly when he rejected the idea. “But if you were a merman then you’d make a great mate. And you wouldn’t have to leave the child. It’s just something that usually happens. Most mermen don’t have strong paternal instincts so they don’t usually care about their offspring and since they usually live with a different pod, once the mating rituals are done, they leave to join their pod and we continue on our way with our own pod. If you wanted to be part of your child’s life that’s fine too though. We have some families in our pod that are influenced by landfolk and they’ve even gotten married on land and have children only with their spouse. It’s not impossible for us to love. I just don’t understand it.”
She did feel some pressure to have a child. Most of the mers in her pod that were around her age already had one or two children. “I wouldn’t mate with a selkie,” she shook her head, “If I did want a child it would be with a merman. There have been some who presented themselves to me but...” she pressed her lips against his neck and tightened her legs around his middle as he bounced her again, “..none of them seemed right.”
