Explosion hits Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s Kandahar

An explosion has gone off inside a Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar, according to security sources.

The explosion on Friday afternoon  took place in the Bibi Fatima mosque, the largest mosque for Shia worshippers in the city.

Hospital sources told Daily Pakistan they were inundated with patients, and that based on the number of increasing intakes, they feared a high casualty toll.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The incident took place a week after dozens of people were killed and more than 100 others were wounded  when a mosque in the northern province of Kunduz was targeted in an ISIL-K claimed bombing.

The Taliban-led government promised a quick response and to hold the perpetrators for the Kunduz attack responsible.

Jofra Archer names six overseas stars to watch at T20 World Cup, including Shaheen Shah Afridi

Jofra Archer will be a huge miss for England at the upcoming T20 World Cup, with the Sussex quick currently out of action with an elbow injury.

Despite his absence, there will be a whole host of elite players in action at the tournament and Archer has picked out six stars to keep an eye on.

The 26-year-old has played alongside Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan for Sussex in the T20 Blast since 2018 and is a big fan of the leg-spinner.

Archer called Khan "a game-changer with bat and ball" who can "single-handedly win a match" and is "an extremely dangerous hitter at the back end of an innings too".

Archer was also full of praise for South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada, labelling him a "solid, consistent performer."

He said: "A bowler who is very good at the top, in the middle or at the end of an innings. Wherever he bowls, you know he's going to be reliable. He is quick, can take wickets with the new ball and is good at taking the pace off towards the death."

Rabada's compatriot Quinton de Kock also came in for praise, with Archer stating that he "can hit the ball anywhere" and is "not scared of letting you see that he's trying to do it", something he says can "get into a bowler's head".

West Indies superstar Andre Russell, Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Pakistan seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi rounded out Archer's list.

The England quick described Russell's six-hitting ability as "ridiculous", saying: "He can change the look of a game at the backend, boosting the run rate from six or seven over to 13s and 14s on his own."

Archer labelled Hasaranga "someone the cricket world should be keeping an eye out for", highlighting the spinner's "excellent variations" and stating that "they can be very hard to combat on slow, turning pitches."

Delivering his verdict on Afridi, Archer said: "Being a left-armer he challenges batters from a different angle, swings the ball and can bowl decent change-ups later on in an innings. Standing at 6ft 6ins, he also extracts bounce out of pictures that others can't."

According to Daily Pakistan the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team returned 15 hours later without arresting Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.

The NAB team had reached Agha Siraj Durrani's house in Karachi at 4 pm yesterday to arrest him, but Siraj Durrani's employees continued to resist.

The transaction of crores of rupees from the account of Agha Siraj Durrani's daughter was revealed.

It may be recalled that in reference to assets in excess of income, the Sindh High Court had rejected the bail application of the Speaker Sindh Assembly. According to the written decision of the court, there is a difference of Rs 1.61 billion in the income and assets of Agha Siraj.

Gang Rape Of Girl On Gojra Motorway, Main Accused Arrested

Gojra: According to Daily Pakistan the main accused in the case of alleged gang rape of a girl in a car on  M4 motorway has been arrested.

Police said that the accused had lured Toba Tek Singh's daughter to Gojra by offering her a job at a boutique. The accused raped the girl in a car on the motorway and fled after throwing her at Faisalabad Interchange.

Investigation of alleged gang rape case

DSP Mian Waqar Ahmed said that a case of gang rape has been registered in the City Police Station in the complaint of the victim's aunt.

The aunt of the girl said that the niece was called to Gojra for interview by texting on the phone. On reaching Gojra from Toba Tek Singh, the accused said to send the niece in the car.

The aunt of the girl told in the FIR that there was a woman and two men in the vehicle in which the niece was taken. The accused gang-raped my niece on the motorway and dumped her at Faisalabad Interchange.

The victim did not name the accused: Police

DSP Waqar Ahmed said that there were 3 accused in the incident of rape of the girl who came in the car, there were 2 boys and a girl in the car who had texted the victim.

Waqar Ahmed said that the girl did not give the names of the accused, the number plate of the vehicle is not there, geo-fencing is being done, the accused will be arrested in a day or two, the accused had asked the girl for a job in a boutique in Faisalabad.

Police said that the victim girl has been medically examined and now DNA is being tested and samples have been sent to Lahore.

The main accused was arrested

A spokesman of Punjab Police said that the main accused of gang-rape of a girl on Motorway M4 in Gojra has been arrested.

Punjab Chief Minister and IG Police notice of the incident

IG Punjab Rao Sikandar has taken notice of the incident of alleged rape of a girl in a car on Gojra Motorway and has sought a report from RPO Faisalabad.

The IG Punjab, while ordering immediate arrest of the accused and stern legal action, said that justice should be provided to the victim girl on priority basis.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar also took notice of the incident of alleged rape of a girl on the motorway near Gojra and demanded a report from RPO Faisalabad and ordered immediate arrest of the accused.

It may be recalled that on September 9 last year, a woman was gang-raped on the motorway in Gujjarpura area of ​​Lahore.

Lahore: With only three days left in the start of the T20 World Cup , the national team will leave for the United Arab Emirates tomorrow to participate in the mega event .

According to the details, the Pakistan cricket team will leave for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday, October 15 to participate in the T20 World Cup. The departure of the national squad is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

The national squad had rested yesterday. Before departure, the team will have its second scenario match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore today. Upon arrival in the UAE, the team will play warm-up matches against the West Indies and South Africa.

T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan can summon 'spirit of 2009' to recapture title, says Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi, the box office trailblazer of white-ball cricket, believes that “unpredictable” Pakistan can summon the spirit of 2009 and win a second T20 World Cup.

Afridi was man of the match in a nail-biting seven-run semi-final win over South Africa in the tournament 12 years ago where he made 51.

He then starred again in the eight-wicket rout of Sri Lanka in the final at Lord's where he smashed an undefeated 54.

Pakistan's victory came just three months after the terror attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore, an incident that sparked a shutdown of international cricket in the country.

“We had that issue of the Sri Lanka attacks on our minds,” Afridi told AFP.

“The whole nation was disappointed and frustrated so that win was very much needed.

“The win gave the whole nation happiness and some unforgettable moments.” Afridi famously stormed onto the scene in 1996 when he broke the record for the fastest century in ODI cricket, reaching his hundred from 37 balls.

It was a record that stood until 2014.

Afridi, who played 99 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, thinks recent setbacks can again inspire Babar Azam's team in the 2021 T20 showpiece.

A month before the mega-event, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis resigned, apparently believing new board chairman Ramiz Raja would sack them anyway.

Then New Zealand abandoned their tour of the country just minutes before the first ODI in Rawalpindi.

Three days later, England also withdrew its men's and women's teams from visiting Pakistan.

“This is Pakistan cricket for you, never ever a dull day,” added Afridi ruefully.

“Pakistan can surprise any team in the world. Rule them out at your peril.” In his 22-year international career, Afridi was at the heart of Pakistan's “topsy-turvy” ride in limited-overs cricket.

Heartbreak and drama

Afridi anchored Pakistan's run to the final in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007, taking 12 wickets which earned him the player of the tournament award.

Pakistan, however, lost twice against arch-rivals India — including the final.

“Pakistan gave the best entertainment in the first T20 World Cup,” insists Afridi.

“We lost to India in the group match after a bowl-out, which was something very new for us.”

Pakistan then lost the final with Misbah-ul-Haq falling to an injudicious shot off the third ball of the final over, with just six needed for a win.

“Misbah brought Pakistan into the game but then we lost by the barest of margins,” said Afridi.

Under Afridi, defending champions Pakistan then lost in the semi-final of the 2010 edition in the Caribbean when Michael Hussey clobbered 39 runs in the last two overs to give Australia an unlikely win.

“T20 suits our character,” added Afridi. “We have the talent, approach and aggression required for this rapid format.

“It is a format which is loved throughout Pakistan. We won against every team and then every team adopted that style.

“Bowling is now full of variety and new batting techniques have developed.” Afridi insists Pakistan can once again spring a few surprises in the UAE.

“The current Pakistan team is very talented although they lack experienced players. But, as we all know, never underestimate a Pakistan team! “

Gang Rape Of Girl On Gojra Motorway, Main Accused Arrested

According to daily Pakistan GOJRA: THE MAIN ACCUSED IN THE CASE OF ALLEGED GANG RAPE OF A GIRL IN A CAR ON M4 MOTORWAY HAS BEEN ARRESTED.

POLICE SAID THAT THE ACCUSED HAD LURED TOBA TEK SINGH'S DAUGHTER TO GOJRA BY OFFERING HER A JOB AT A BOUTIQUE. THE ACCUSED RAPED THE GIRL IN A CAR ON THE MOTORWAY AND FLED AFTER THROWING HER AT FAISALABAD INTERCHANGE.

INVESTIGATION OF ALLEGED GANG RAPE CASE

THE VICTIM DID NOT NAME THE ACCUSED: POLICE
