Mo Xiang Tong Xiu and first kisses: a recurring theme.

In all three of her series, the main couple's first kiss is 1) initiated by the top, and 2) forceful and non consensual

Which is pretty much standard fare for the BL genre! And I was thinking: huh! This doesn't sound like her. She likes to turn these tropes on their head.

And the thing is, she actually does turn it on its head, in a different way each time.

In Scum Villain, Luo Binghe is dreaming, and completely unaware he's kissing the actual Shen Qingqiu. He probably wouldn't have done it otherwise. Even during their tussle where he's "playing at forcing himself upon his Shizun" he doesn't go for a kiss (I think he could have, easily, if he wanted, and was only using a fraction of his strength against Shen Qingqiu).

In Mo Dao Zu Shi, Lan WangJi does kiss Wei WuXian forcefully in a very typical way! Unlike what is typical, though, he knows it is wrong, feels extremely bad about it, and never does anything of the sort ever again AND wangxian then proceed to have fun sexy roleplay about it! Initiated by Wei WuXian! Because he's enthusiastically into sex and CNC scenarios.

Tian Guan Ci Fu is... a bit trickier. On the one hand, outwardly Hua Cheng "kisses" Xie Lian only by necessity, to give him air, and Xie Lian is extremely taken aback and panicking about it (and would have technically been "fine" without it, though we know why Hua Cheng can't bear to see him suffer). But, internally, it is unclear how much of this act was Hua Cheng jumping on the occasion to test the waters/get closer, and how much was this deep refusal to let Xie Lian feel pain.

On the other hand, it's a running theme for these two henceforth to take any lousy pretext as an excuse for kissing, and it goes both ways. And that is indeed quite the reversal to have the bottom take a dubious action from the top and then run with it.
