Catching up on Tag Games

Lovely @ts3-rauh tagged me in a couple things the past weeks while I have been a bit inactive here, but I did not want them to be unanswered! First was about what song(s) are in my head (Rauh's post here). Usually I have a whole playlist of songs stuck in my head but lately I haven't had too many, just this one:

Second was about non-sims hobbies (Rauh's post) and this one makes more sense to post about as they are the reason I am inactive here right now! I very much go into phases with my hobbies and completely hyperfixate on one or two at a time and these cycle to include:

Art - this is what is consuming me right now! I attend a pottery class weekly, and do watercolours and pastel works on my own or with friends. I also love to study art history and see the artworks of others too.

Art Supplies - Technically related but for me this is very much a separate, additional hobby as I get extremely into collecting, organizing, and cataloguing my art supplies, including fountain pens. I have devoted way too much brain space to pigments. For Rauh if you are reading this, I have just bought some very beautiful Rosa Gallery watercolours from UA! 💙💛

Video games in general. I love all sorts but especially story based games (Elder Scrolls - got distracted with new Oblivion!, Baldur's Gate 3, Dreamfall Series, LA Noire), other simulation games like Planet Zoo, and strategy games (Civ series, CK3, Tropico)

Interior design and gardening - I hate cleaning and tidying up but really enjoy re-organizing and re-decorating my house and garden. I just bought some new plant pots today, I never would have thought something like that would be so exciting, but I am getting old.

I am not really counting this one since I am not terribly successful at maintaining it, but I am trying to get back into reading again. I am hoping a two-person book club with one of my closest friends will keep me accountable - we are reading Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar - my friend reading the native Spanish and I am reading the English translation (same translator as One Hundred Years of Solitude).

I was also tagged by the amazing @ice-creamforbreakfast for a sims-related tag, so I will see what Sims magic I can conjure up soon, when I eventually load my game again :P

Hiya, since Zavoti is just my edited version of an EA Store World (Sunlit Tides) and I have a pathological fear of being sued by a corporation (shoutout that lady who was sued for $2 million for sharing 24 songs by Goo Goo Dolls and Vanessa Williams), I will not be sharing it unfortunately! I have been working on this house + daycare for the Treean family in Northeney, but between a lovely trip to Amsterdam, work, and even playing a bit of cheeky TS4 (that keeps getting corrupted), progress has been very slow. But as always with Sims 3, I am enjoying the process!

Love this little backstory!!

I've been populating the wonderful save New Pleasantview by franglishetchocolat with some OCs, characters inspired by original Pleasantview families, and a couple of characters from my Bloomwood save reimagined. I will be sharing some of the backstories and starting with the families living in the trailer park.

The Navarro-McAllisters The couple moved from the big city back to Dale's small hometown after inheriting the family trailer. It's been almost 15 years since Dale has stepped foot back in town, but they are desperate for a little financial stability. They didn't ask to be the unofficial gay dads of the whole damn trailer park — but here they are.

Dale "Big D" Navarro-McAllister (The Bear) Dale is a line cook at the diner and is warm, funny, and well-loved in town because he always remembers how you like your eggs. He always smells like weed and diner grease and is the king of giving nicknames to people. He avoids confrontation to a fault and carries everyone else's problems until they break him down.

Alejandro "Alex" Navarro-McAllister (The Muscle) Always wearing workout gear, always drinking water like he's trying to drown his own rage, and always smells like coconut lotion and judgment. He is a personal trainer and loves to meal prep for Dale, but knows he’s sneaking fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. He loves his husband, but is secretly afraid that they are going to be stuck in the trailer park forever.

Gertrude McAllister (The Grumpy Cat) Gertrude was Dale's late mother's cat. She is old and cranky but loves snuggling up with Dale because he smells like bacon after work.

Absolute chaos on Builder's Island, which I use for quick loading and mass editing of Sims, like I recently did for Zavoti. This is what happens when you put 120 ported sims with existing grief and crying babies on four lots.

Decided to play Zavoti again. It's my edited version of Sunlit Tides. You can see more on the tag #Zavoti below! It's all from a couple years ago.

I ported all the sims out, edited them on Builders Island, and ported them all back in. I've overhauled my CC in the past couple years so it was necessary! There's a lot of sims and lots here though, it's by far the biggest world that I play.

I was just going to make a post like this as I have seen people tragically delete all their installed Sims3Pack files in aims of "clearing cache" (DCCache is called cache but it is NOT a cache - it is all of your Store packs and other Sims3Packs) but in researching a different folder, I found this guide, which should have way more attention than it does! The help and guides on this Tumblr are great.

Clearing cache from The Sims 3 folder.

Cache files within The Sims 3 folder are temporary files created by the game. They help the game load faster. Over the time, a pile-up of these files can create slower game-starting times, to even lag. In this post, we will go through each folder and show you which files are safe to remove. If you want to learn what your The Sims 3 folder contains, please refer to our guide [here].

As an advice to lessen the lag and prevent corruption, we recommend clearing these files after each gameplay. They're regenerated every time the Launcher is running, so deleting them is safe, and them reappearing is also normal.

DCBackup - This folder contains the much necessary CCMerged file. After installing new content to your game, you'll often find files with long names full of numbers within that folder. It is safe to remove all of those files except CCMerged file.

DCCache - This folder contains all of your custom content divided into several .dbc files. You should only clear missingdeps.idx file, and any file ending in .tmp.

Downloads - Downloads will contain all Sims3Packs you installed. We advise copying these packs in another folder or an external device, should you want to re-install them again later. After that, it is fully safe to remove all files in it. Files named nav.bin and FSIViewCountTracking will regenerate the next time game is opened.

FeaturedItems - This is a folder generating photos and thumbnails of store content. It is fine to delete the entire folder, and files within it.

RecordedVideos + Screenshots - Both folders contain media captured by the player. Personal advice is copying the files from both of the folders into another folder or external drive. And then removing the contents from these folders.

WorldCache - FOR WINDOWS USERS ONLY - It is safe to remove this entire folder. Mac users SHOULD NOT be touching this file. Explanation why.

After folders, it is safe to delete the following files:

CasPartCache.package - CAS parts that appear in Create-A-Sim.

compositorCache.package - New objects that appear in Buy/Build mode.

scriptCache.package - Mods or Hacks.

simCompositorCache.package -New Sims, default skins.

socialCache.package.package - Information about the social aspects.

+ scriptError(your username) - Files generated by NRAAS mods (ErrorTrap) during errors. Delete if you don't wish to post it to NRAAS Industries.
