Old Photos Reveal How Disney’s Animators Used A Real-Life Model To Draw Alice In Wonderland
Kathryn Beaumont, the actor who voiced both Alice in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Wendy in Disney’s Peter Pan, also modeled for the animators. These old photos show how much effort was put into classical animation at the Disney studio, where artists were able to produce as many as 23-24 seconds of animation per week.
Walt Disney chose Beaumont to be the voice of Alice when she was just ten years old. He was so impressed by her looks that he chose her for the model of Alice. After Beaumont finished her studies she went on to become an elementary teacher, a career that lasted thirty years. She was named a “Disney Legend” by the Walt Disney Company in 1998.

I'd care if the person I reblogged this from committed suicide.
Reblog this from anybody. literally. ANYBODY. even if you dont like them or even know them that well. YOU COULD SAVE THEIR LIFE.

scars in fiction: I got this trying to save my lover from an assassin- but tragically, I was too late. now I carry the mark of my failure with me always, and I can never forget~
scars in real life: so I was trying to open macaroni sauce with a paring knife

The "tiny house" movement has serious colonizer energy. So many white people pretending they invented the concept of a wooden house on wheels. So many builders stealing layouts and aesthetics directly from Romani artisans, with no credit to our people whatsoever. So many white folks throwing around the terms "G*psy" and "vardo" like they have any right to them.
Fuck right off with that shit.
Your ancestors burned my ancestors' vardos with our babies trapped inside them. Your ancestors literally enslaved us. Non-Roma neighbors still drive us out of permanent housing, forcing Roma into itinerant living or (worse) homelessness. This happens all over the fucking world. You still regularly demolish our mobile homes to make way for gadje homes and businesses.
You gave it a new name, and now you pretend that upper-middle-class white people reinvented the fucking wheel.
My followers know that I'm not interested in harshing anybody's happiness. I believe profoundly in creative freedom. Are vardos beautiful? Yes. Do I understand why you might like to build one? Yes. Might an ignorant person believe that it's glamorous to travel in one? Yes.
But there needs to be accountability.
Gadje businesses (and non-Roma individual owners) building "G*psy wagons" are participating in a racist act.
You can buy a vardo from a Romani builder. That's a thing people could do. But you guys don't want an actual vardo, from an actual G*psy. You don't want to pay us fairly for our architecture and artistry. You want it to look Romani, you want to call yourself a G*psy, but live like rich white people. You want to appropriate our race, our art, and our culture for white people's pleasure and profit.
I say again: Fuck right off with that shit.
