En attendant Bárðarbunga from François Quévillon on Vimeo.
Waiting for Bárðarbunga, procedural audiovisual installation, 2015. Initiated in August 2014 in response to the alerts and warnings about Bárðarbunga's eruption, this generative video installation examines the monitoring and transformation of volcanic areas. It consists of a database of hundreds of videos which are presented according to a probabilistic system influenced by data coming from the sensors of the computer that runs the installation. The work has an unpredictable unfolding and its conclusion remains uncertain as the system's monitoring influences the course of events it presents, and vice versa. francois-quevillon.com/w/?p=611 En attendant Bárðarbunga, dispositif audiovisuel procédural, 2015.

TRANSFORMERS: THE PREMAKE (a desktop documentary) from Kevin B. Lee on Vimeo.
OFFICIAL SELECTION: 2015 Berlinale International Film Festival Critics Week; 2015 Rotterdam International Film Festival; 2014 Viennale International Film Festival; 2014 Cologne Unlimited Shorts Festival. More info at alsolikelife.com/premake Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth installment of the Transformers movie franchise directed by Michael Bay, will be released June 27 2014. But on YouTube one can already access an immense trove of production footage recorded by amateurs in locations where the film was shot, such as Utah, Texas, Detroit, Chicago, Hong Kong and mainland China. Transformers: the Premake turns 355 YouTube videos into a critical investigation of the global big budget film industry, amateur video making, and the political economy of images.
The Premake utilizes a “desktop documentary” technique that acknowledges the internet's role not only as a boundless repository of information but as a primary experience of reality. It creatively depicts the process in which we explore a deep web of images and data to reach moments of discovery and decisive action. In a blockbuster cinema culture rife with insipid remakes of franchise properties, The Premake presents a critical counter-image in which personalized digital media asks what Hollywood is really doing in the world.
Note: This is the complete version of TRANSFORMERS THE PREMAKE. The video will be also released online episodically as follows:
1 - "Remember Chicago" starts at 0:00 2 - "A World Full of Adventure" - starts at 4:53 3 - "Bringing Cultures Closer" - starts at 11:01 4 - "Get What Nobody Else Can" - starts at 15:43 5 - "Finale: Openings" starts at 20:15
