I think the pictures of these two are infinitely better if you picture them in that artok trend with that part from ‘up on melancholy hill’ while displaying their height differences. I really don’t want to make it so I’ll just doodle it.
Maybe I will make it….
(Cannon height difference)

i can't help thinking about the place time travel has in p2 haruspex route. artemy uses time travel in a singular structured way. he touches the clocks and they can be used to reverse death. death is a mistake, a perversion of the haruspex's play by mark's words, and artemy rewinds his mistakes to undo them. but he goes no further, the game actively chides you for trying to jump around the timelines using the clocks, and they're not designed for it to begin with, they make doing so clunky. it fits artemy and his no-nonsense straightforward approach to things. he's a self assured person, he makes a choice and sticks to it.
but daniil? daniil is indecisive. as far as p3/bachelor's route is telling us. his fate, his play, is the story of indecision and repartition in pursuit of the perfect combination of events and actions. to save himself, to save the town, or both, it doesn't matter. the fact is he slips fluidly through the world that was rigid for artemy. and he did so when we were playing artemy. it's subtle but fairly obvious in hindsight that the daniil we interacted with in p2 haruspex was time traveling. he's even repeating in marble nest. he repeats the day to seek a different outcome, and it's doomed to fail. (will he be doomed to fail again? truly there is no perfect set of actions that can net you what you want, will this be a story of striving towards an impossible goal? ...much like attempting to defeat death is an impossible goal...)
