Handmade Heroes Lip Scrub Review
Tumblr media
I first heard about this lip scrub from one of my friends who loved it. After hearing about it, I couldn’t resist getting one for myself.
This lip scrub is made out of 100% natural ingredients (as all products from Handmade Heroes are) and promises to exfoliate while rehydrating your lips.
What better way to put it to the test than with a matte lip lacquer?
I used the Clio Professional Lipnicure in number 6, Rumour Coral.
Tumblr media
While not very obvious on camera, I did feel a distinct difference in terms of softness of my lips after the scrub, as well as application.
Compared to before, the lip lacquer glided on smoother and looked less patchy.
The scrub also smelt heavenly and if you chose to, can even be licked off instead of rinsed off.
Tumblr media
The scrub definitely exfoliates, but my lips didn’t feel particularly rehydrated. I do love the natural ingredients, smell and taste of the product and another huge plus point is that it’s from a local brand!
Overall: Yes. It’s definitely worth a try!

A magical night with Inch Chua
Tumblr media
I attended Inch’s EP launch: Letters to Ubin last Thursday night. It wasn’t my first time watching her live but her show that night was one of her best!
She performed every song on her latest release and a few of her more popular old ones.
Tumblr media
The launch was held at Aliwal’s art centre and the intimate venue was perfect as Inch explained inspirations behind the songs. In particular, I was really touched by the performance of Breakbone.
She spoke of how the song was inspired by the grieving process of someone you don’t really like passing away. While my favourite song in the album is A Simple Kind of Life (I can’t resist the groovy beat), the best performance of the night was, hands down, Breakbone.
Tumblr media
Inch also treated all of us to many special performances, such as this sweet duet which was preceded by an acapella solo.
She invited up on stage Joie Tan, Michaela Therese, Narelle Kheng and Vandetta to sing Hurt with her.
Tumblr media
The EP launch was a wonderfully intimate, emotional and personable experience and I really enjoyed myself!

100% Natural Felt Accessories
Tumblr media
Another stall that stood out from the rest during the Big N Breezy Arts Bazaar 2015 was this!
Natural felt products by Simply for Love.
I had a nice chat with one of the 3 sisters who started the brand. Aisah was really friendly and I got to learn how the brand started and what inspired them.
Tumblr media
Aisah started making her own accessories out of felt as she didn’t want to have to buy them. One of her sisters wanted to start a business and they thought why not felt products? Since this niche has yet to really boom in Singapore.
Originally they used synthetic felt which had polyester mixed in it, but wanted to move towards 100% natural felt and eventually decided to import the fabric.
Compared to polyester felt, natural felt is much softer.
Tumblr media
Apart from accessories, they’ve also expanded into creating natural felted soaps. The 100% natural soaps are imported from the US and come in a wide range of scents.
My favourite scent was this vanilla one and I think they would make perfect christmas presents!

Indonesia meets Japan
Tumblr media
I had the pleasant surprise of discovering madame vershe during the Big N Breezy Arts Bazaar last Saturday.
The founders, Veronica and Sheila, were really friendly and nice and shared with me a lot about the Indonesian brand.
Tumblr media
Some of the highlights of the brand include an entire line of clothing inspired by the Japanese simplistic style.
They adapted the Indonesian traditional Batik print with Japanese cuts and styles of clothing to create comfortable yet unique and stylish pieces.
Tumblr media
Another popular design under the label is the hand-printed clothes. Each clothing’s print is painstakingly painted on so no piece is exactly the same as any other.
What i really liked about the brand was the quality material and stitching.
In addition, some of the basics were really unique, being able to be worn front and back to achieve 2 different designs in one clothing.
I’m really excited for the brand to come to Singapore!

Nothing Big nor Breezy
Tumblr media
I attended LePark X Megafash’s Big N Breezy Art Bazaar on Saturday.
I was really excited for the event! The publicity and marketing was really good, boasting 100 stalls and how they were bringing ‘Chatuchak to Singapore’.
While some of the shops were really cute and I did manage to find a few clothes i liked, it was overall quite a disappointing event.
Tumblr media
There were only about 40 stalls maybe and the venue was really bad. Ventilation was poor and everyone was feeling really hot.
However, it was nice to get to see designers and brands from neighbouring countries, and the owners were all really friendly and willing to share more about their brand!
I guess I just feel that the publicity was slightly misleading and I expected more from the event!

10 Questions with Inch Chua
Tumblr media
I managed to get a few moments with Inch after her set at NOISE last Saturday.
This petite vocal powerhouse is always a joy to watch onstage.
Watching her onstage I can really feel how much she enjoys performing, how happy she is to share her music with others and just her love for music in general.
Tumblr media
You can find countless interviews about her music online, so this time i decided to ask her questions regarding other things - so we could all get to know the person behind such amazing songs.
10 Questions in 30 Seconds
1. Favourite Food?
Popiah!
2. Trousers or Shorts?
Shorts
3. Stripes or Checkered?
Checkered
4. Chicken Rice or Duck Rice?
Chicken Rice
5. Sneakers or Heels?

6. Teh Peng or Kopi Peng?
Kopi Peng
7. Kang Kong or Cabbage?
Kang Kong
8. Pulau Ubin or (mainland) Singapore?
Pulau Ubin
9. Favourite local designer?

10. Mentor during your time at NOISE?
A mix of Desmond Goh and Amanda Ling from Electrico, and Leonard Soosay!
Offstage, Inch is really warm and bubbly!
The EP launch of her upcoming album, Letters To Ubin will be on the 26th November and you can grab tickets here.
I had the pleasure of listening to the title track, Mouse Deer, live at NOISE. I love the instrumentals of the song - the woodwind elements really remind of Pulau Ubin!
