history (so far) of me “glitching” things

so idk if y’all (i have 0 followers rn lol) have seen me glitching images but i here we go.

so way way back i found out that you can edit images and add in some noise, such as noise in the RGB or HSV values of the pixels. of course, its artificial, but with other filters, such as blur, rotation, perspective etc you can end up with some interesting results.

this is the first one thats “good“ that i made. this was back when i didnt “glitch” but instead used filters to simulate the effect. i more or less stumbled on the half-decent perspective for this one. this was made in gimp with a lens-ish filter on the background and the janky 3d plane thing you can do. the shibe image is the crying shibe image cleaned up with a posterize filter on it. over the whole thing theres some HSV noise (i think) to make it look janked up.

soon enough i found out about how to actually glitch images. i found a method online to where i could open and edit images in audacity (a sound editor). i took some album art, found the fullsize from the artist’s site, and proceeded to iterate about 60+ times to get this result. this is (iirc) a phaser or reverb filter used on the image itself. i still really like this one so i use it as my desktop background, my phone background, and my twitter (@LazySeaAnemone) profile icon.

alrighty at this point i’ve moved onto glitching images i’ve taken with my phone camera. i really like how the jpeg compression artifacts in phone pics give little flaws for the audacity filters to latch onto and jank things up. this one is with an equalizer tweek to add in the red on the clouds and a sawtooth waveform added into audacity to add these nice diagonal lines.

so this one is more abstract and has so many tweaks idk how to keep track of em all so im gonna guess and say thats a reverb+echo filters plus a few more thrown in.

this one is more subtle so i like it. this is with a bit of reverb and a compressor thrown in. its more or less a tiny edit made to jank it up in a way similar to vhs tape lines. i really like this one.

this one is where i split the data into a stereo track, deleted the data on one of them, and threw in a reverb filter and a few noise reduction filters to get rid of all the blank dark space just sitting there for most of the image.

anyways this is a trashy post that most likely no one will ever see but me but here you go, go and steal my techniques lol
