MIST
Chapter - 1
Pairing: Levi x OC
Tumblr media
Eren's nerves were frayed, and two primary reasons contributed to his unease. The first was the severe beating he had received from Captain Levi during the trial; although it had ultimately worked in their favor, the experience had been nothing short of harrowing. The second reason was that this marked his inaugural day in the infamous Levi Squad, a unit known for its prowess and intensity.
Up to this point, he had met nearly all the members of Levi Squad, save for the elusive sub-captain. What was her name again? The only thing he seemed to recall was that she was described as ethereal—a term that felt oddly distant, almost like referring to someone as a ghost. Oruo, one of the squad members, had chattered incessantly since their departure for the old HQ, filling Eren's mind with wild stories. By now, he was convinced that Oruo's tales were solely aimed at giving him the impression that she was a mystical being who could float away on a cloud of glitter at any moment!
Panic seized him as he realized he was running late on his first day. Captain Levi had explicitly instructed him to be present in the courtyard for a formal introduction—although Eren was starting to wonder if "formal introduction" was a real thing in this squad. While racing through the maze of corridors, he focused intently on keeping his balance, desperately trying not to trip over his own feet.
“Tch. You are late, brat,” Levi's voice cut through the air as Eren stumbled and fell face-first onto the ground. What in the world had he tripped over this time?
“I’m sorry, Captain… I didn’t mean to… I think I got lo—” Eren stuttered, scrambling to find some reasonable excuse that might save him from the embarrassment in front of his new squad members. He was fairly certain he could hear Oruo snickering softly nearby, which only intensified his humiliation.
“Save it for another time. I would like to get this over with as soon as possible,” Levi interrupted sharply, dismissing him with a wave of his hand, his expression as stoic as ever.
“Petra, Oruo, Eld, and Gunther,” Levi continued, gesturing toward each of them in turn. “You’ve already been introduced to them.”
As he spoke, a sudden chill swept through the air, altering the very essence of the atmosphere within the courtyard. Eren’s heart raced, driven not only by the adrenaline from his clumsiness but also by the anticipation of a new presence. Turning slowly, he caught sight of her—this enigmatic figure who seemed to draw everyone's attention effortlessly. Was she even real? Eren's jaw dropped as he beheld her, the sight nearly transcending his ability to comprehend it.
Her hair flowed around her like a shimmering waterfall, the cascading strands of silver glinting in the light as though they were spun from the very threads of the moon. It reached gracefully down to her knees, and he couldn’t help but marvel at how anyone could possibly manage such length in the chaos of battle. Surely, it would be a challenge to keep it untangled amidst the relentless action. Yet, there was an undeniable elegance in how it framed her striking features.
Nevertheless, it was her eyes that truly ensnared his attention—each one seemed to radiate an otherworldly glow. With each glance, they pierced through the dim light of the courtyard, seemingly filled with untold stories and boundless power. Eren felt a profound mixture of astonishment and intrigue wash over him as he stood there, entranced by this extraordinary being who had just stepped into his world.
“This is Sub-Captain Ame, my second-in-command,” Levi’s voice cut through the fog of Eren's thoughts, pulling him abruptly back to reality. Eren watched, incredulous, as Levi's strong arm draped casually around Ame’s shoulder, drawing her closer to him. There was a softness in his gaze that Eren hadn’t expected, an unexpected warmth that altered Levi’s usually stoic demeanor. Ame stood a few inches shorter than Levi, her delicate frame barely reaching his shoulders, yet there was an undeniable strength in her presence.
“Nice to meet you, Eren,” Ame greeted, her smile tender and inviting, yet her eyes betrayed a different story—a glimmer of sadness that lingered just beneath the surface. Her voice was like the softest melody Eren had ever heard, a sweet lilt that contrasted sharply with the sorrow that shadowed her features. For a moment, he felt drawn to her, sensing a deep-seated loneliness that made it seem as though she didn’t quite fit within this world, as if she was an outsider peering in, searching for a place to belong.
