𖤐 ʾ ⠀ ❪ ⠀ NATALIA HWANG ⠀ ╲ ⠀A DISCOGRAPHY DEEP DIVE
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ TALIA (2015): THE GRAND DEBUT … Fresh out of filming for her supporting role in the 2016 film ‘The Handmaiden,’ Natalia would make her musical debut on her 18th birthday, releasing her first full studio album, featuring three lead singles: ONLY YOU, FULL MOON, and FLY. Each of these tracks would get their own individual promotional periods. This release would debut to much critical acclaim, the lead singles peaking at #1, #5, and #1 on charts respectively and the album selling over 683,000 units. Only You rose to popularity with a surprising quickness, racking in 7 music show wins. Full Moon was also a hit, recognized as one of the most iconic songs as well as choreography in the industry, being covered by large range of idols and notable celebrities. Then Fly did surprisingly well with the general public, taking the industry by storm with it’s vocal prowess and earning several PAKS and RAKS, and staying in the top of charts for a total of 70 weeks.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ 24 HOURS (2016): THE FIRST COMEBACK … Riding off the success of Natalia’s debut, her acting projects, and modeling work, Zephyr thought it’d be best to release her first comeback in the earlier part of 2016. 24 Hours is her second studio album, consisting of 8 tracks with 24 Hours serving as the title track. 24 Hours debuted at #15 on charts but progressively worked itself up to #1 throughout the promotional period. Alongside the title track, the b-side MAGIC which unexpectedly peaked within the top 10 on music charts. Due to popular demand, Natalia also promoted the track very briefly on music shows. Although the public’s reception of her work was seemingly positive, it was evident that she was still exploring her artistry. Even though she was never truly given credit for anything on this album or the album prior, she was heavily involved in the writing and concept for all tracks. On the contrary, both Zephyr Entertainment and Henri Kwon (especially) were very adamant on not straying away from the sexier image she’d been portraying already.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ WHY (2016): THE SUMMER RENAISSANCE … Natalia came back just in time for the summer with her single Why. The tropical house track was met with immediate acclaim upon release, peaking at #1 on all charts, taking home 10 music show wins, and seeing several PAKS. This song was everywhere that year. When people think of summer 2016, Why is destined to come to mind. It also trumped her previous reign of 70 weeks on charts by staying for 90 weeks. It also revisits the charts frequently, usually around summertime of every year. This year she was able to take home BEST NEW ARTIST and SONG OF THE YEAR with this single alone. This is what marked the official solidification of her status in the music industry.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ VARIATIONS ON THE WORLD LOVE (2017): A LOVE-HATE RELATIONSHIP … Natalia Hwang released yet another studio album titled Variations on the Word Love, which is a darker piece of work exploring themes of toxic relationships and what love can look and feel like. Never Ever, the title track, debuted at #1 on charts and stayed there for weeks. Other b-sides on the album also charted well, like the #5 peaking track MOONLIGHT. The album sold over 2 million copies, marking her first 2 million seller in her career. Aside from the success, though, fans were worried that Natalia was being overworked. From booking luxury brand deals, Mon Cheri’s new season, and gearing up for her first world tour, it was safe to say there wasn’t a time where Natalia wasn’t working. Everything she did was selling like hot cakes, Zephyr and Henri felt like they could slap her name onto anything and make bank. On the contrary, while she was apparently loved by the public, she was also hated a great deal. People slapped the names ‘diva’ and ‘airheaded’ on her, embroiling her in attitude controversies and slandering her for her interviews where Henri accompanied her.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ FANTASY (2017): A LOVE-HATE RELATIONSHIP PART 2 … Following the promotional period for VOTWL, Natalia would release her first mini album only a few months later, selling 2 million copies once again. It’s title track Fantasy would garner 9 music show wins and peak at #1 on charts. Of course, this release wouldn’t come without backlash, many netizens criticizing the attire she wore in her music video, calling it skimpy and inappropriate. Although she wouldn’t promote this release much as she was preparing for her first world tour, other tracks on the mini would gain popularity, such as DON’T SAY NO (which would later get its own music video) and WHATEVER. Those tracks would both get added to the Setlist for the tour. She would walk away from this year with the ARTIST OF THE YEAR award, much to a lot of people’s dismay. Regardless, this year was still a success even with the boycotts and nasty, intrusive comments from interviewers and netizens alike.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT (2018): THE EERIE CALM BEFORE THE STORM … Natalia released her second mini album right in time for spring of this year, a reference to netizens titling her a ‘national embarrassment.’ While the album sold less copies than her previous releases, it would still chart exceedingly well. She didn’t promote this album much, never performing it and oftentimes barely acknowledging it after its release.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ TIMELESS (2018): THE HATE TRAIN (WHEN THINGS FALL APART) … Around winter of 2018, Natalia released her fourth studio album, featuring the title track #LADY and the promotional b-side ALTERLIFE. Things seemed to be looking up before its release, the albums presales already hitting incredible milestones and the anticipation for the release umpteenth. The first few hours of the release were peaceful, both tracks debuting at #1 and #10 respectively. However, things came crumbling down when Henri Kwon released an exposé regarding Natalia, officially announcing their parting from one another and dumping on her mental health and extremely personal issues. This sent the media into a frenzy, everyone talking about it and a plethora of headlines coming out everyday. Some people sided with Natalia, saying that Henri was wrong for speaking on her and airing out her mental state and sexuality like that, while most used this as an opportunity to bag on her all that they wanted. This was an extremely rough period for Natalia, as she was being asked very rude and inappropriate questions every interview and being harassed by paparazzi and fans on the internet everyday. This was an all-time low for her, emotionally and in her career. She’d always received hate but never to the extent of this year. Due to this, her promotions were cut short and she canceled many schedules. She would then be placed on an indefinite and unofficial hiatus where she wouldn’t release music or make any public appearances for the next nearly three years.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ MY OBSESSION (2021): THE LONG AWAITED COMEBACK … After nearly three years and many half-assed, vague updates from Zephyr Entertainment about Natalia’s whereabouts, Hwang finally made her comeback in 2021, releasing her first studio album in years titled My Obsession. My Obsession would prove to be her best-selling album, selling over 4 million units with its title track MIDNIGHT winning 12 music show wins and SONG OF THE YEAR, while other tracks such as TOUCH, SELFISH, and SECRETS charted exceptionally and were promoted due to popular demand.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ DESSERT [FEAT. MICKEY MOON & KYRIE HAN] (2021): COLLAB OF THE YEAR … A little later this same year, Natalia would unveil another release, which would be a chart topping single featuring Mickey Moon of DREAMCHIC and Kyrie Han of RAVANA. The collaboration would go viral, peaking at #1 and staying within the top 15 weeks after its release. The single would even be nominated alongside Midnight for awards such as BEST DANCE PERFORMANCE and SONG OF THE YEAR. Although, it would win BEST COLLABORATION.
∬ ˚ ⋆ ࣪ BAD OMENS (2022): CREATIVE FREEDOM AND ARTISTIC AUTHENTICITY … After taking yet another year off from music, Natalia came back with her studio album titled Bad Omens, featuring the title track Fever. This ‘hiatus’ was much different from the previous one—in length and reason. It was obvious that she was working on projects behind the scenes, such as new modeling projects, preparing for comebacks and (possible) tours, and making business moves. In this album, fans were able to see a different, deeper side of Natalia and her music. She was vulnerable with the concepts for music videos and album art, and talked about past experiences in her tracks which raised quite a few brows to listeners. Many people would speculate about the lyrics but when questioned about them, she would only answer with vague responses. Some tracks that were talked about in particular were: I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND, PWIC, and LIQUID SMOOTH. The album is often regarded as her best piece of work sonically, conceptually, and artistically.
As of early 2024, Natalia has taken more time off from music to focus on her new record label COUNTESSA RECORDINGS, which she revealed and bought her first artist in the later part of 2023.

* ⠀ @⠀ VORTEX CLUB⠀ ・。⠀▸ ﹕ ⠀ natalia hwang opens up her own company ⠀! published september 20, 2023
It was announced earlier today that soloist NATALIA HWANG has officially opened up her own entertainment agency, a subsidiary under Zephyr Entertainment which is named COUNTESSA RECORDINGS. Alongside that information, it was also revealed she’s signed her first artist LOVE/LUCKY, a co-ed idol band who was previously managed by FLEURRY RECORDS after being independent for years before. Most fans of the band are jumping with joy seeing that they were dropped from the previous label as the company had no plans for their future and that Love and Lucky hadn’t released music since their contract with Fleurry.
However, of course such news came with negative comments. Some people are weary of the way Natalia would go about managing an artist of her own, let alone a company. There were a few stating that Natalia is “too irresponsible” to be in charge of a business as demanding as this one. To clarify her decision, aside from Zephyr Entertainment’s piece at their press conference, Natalia released a statement of her own:
“Countessa Recordings is going to be a creative outlet and safe environment for all it inhabits. It is not to be confused with Zephyr Entertainment or any of its subsidiaries, Countessa is its own entity. I’ll take my job as CEO seriously and work to make sure that everything I do will only generate fruitful results. Everything I do is in the best interests of the artists while bringing a collaborative charm that is unique to the brand. Our motto is to inspire, create, and protect. We won’t fall short of any expectations we’ve set. Thank you.”
Love and Lucky already has a comeback in the works since they officially signed with the newly established company a little over a month ago, reportedly.
How does this article make you feel? What do you think of Natalia’s decision?

꙰ 𓈒 ˙ 𓍼 RAVANA’S DISCOGRAPHY : A DEEP DIVE
tw. flashing lights, photosensitive epilepsy triggers
RAVANA debuted in 2013 under HONEYMOON AVENUE with the hit single ROCK ME. The boy band went onto become the first and only successful artist under the label aside from the collaboration group TROUVAILLE (2016) to which they ultimately lost the rights to following a lawsuit in 2018. Ravana was met with what seemed like instantaneous success, angsty teenagers eating up the song like hot cakes. Honeymoon was completely shocked regarding their reception, genuinely not expecting them to take off as soon as they did—or take off at all. Ravana and their debut in it’s entirety was a shot in the dark. While all of the boys worked on the song, ICHIRO and producer ADDY were largely at work in the studio.
In 2014, Ravana released a major milestone within their early career, their first mini album CHRYSALIS, with the title track CAN WE DANCE? that was considered a chart monster at its prime. The album also featured promoted and popular tracks like NOBODY COMPARES and THEY DON’T KNOW. The tracks were even bigger than their debut and could be heard any and everywhere: on commercials, movies, YouTube videos, at the mall, the social media’s of youth all over, everywhere. Classified as pop perfection amongst fans, this era introduced the concept of the FRONT BOY. In Ravana, depending on the era, the lead would alternate between members, or as the fans nicknamed it: THE FRONT BOY. During Chrysalis, Kyrie was the front boy, which proved to be a smart move when his popularity skyrocketed among the fandom. He was easily the most biased member. Fans seemed to love him, favoring his mysterious persona, considering virtually nothing about his pre-debut days was publicized or talked about like his bandmates. The music video also gained extra attention when NATALIA HWANG fresh off of the set of her teen film BEACH HOUSE was casted as the love interest. With her following, she only further popularized the band’s video. Although, shipping theories went wild alongside this. This was also the era that sparked an onslaught of recognition from TUMBLR, the boys even being advertised by viewers as Tumblr Icons. The album sits at over 1 MILLION SALES.
FRONT BOY: KYRIE
Riding off of the success of their previous release, Ravana came out with the single CONFIDENT in 2014. Confident was heavily praised for it’s slick, pop-r&b sound, feeding into the image already surrounding them. RAVE’S were huge fans of their new sound, raving (no pun intended) about it’s darker tones and blush-inducing lyrics. Earning Front Boy for a second era in a row, Kyrie began to pick up his pen and get to work on Confident. He both wrote and produced Confident, and you could tell by how different the sound was compared to distributions prior.
FRONT BOY: KYRIE
In 2015, Ravana released the Extended Play DREAM DAZE. Of course, Dream Daze went onto be an utter success, selling over 2MILLION units in total. The era of Dream Daze had two Front Boy’s and was generally lead by Ichiro in PERFECT and Kyrie in SOMEBODY TO YOU. The music video for Somebody to You had a special appearance from POISON’S HAYOON, which of course sparked dating rumors and shippers to go wild. Some shippers having insufferable debates about who was the better ship: Natalia and Kyrie, Hayoon and Kyrie, or Eunki and Jamie. There were even a slew of in-group shippers, pitting pairs like Eunki and Jamie and Ichiro and Kyrie (if they weren’t being shipped together, they were being pit against each other) against one another. Aside from these odd antics, the band went onto have a commercial success on their hands, only furthering their path.
FRONT BOY: ICHIRO / KYRIE
2016 came their biggest release yet, with the release of their first full-length album OUT OF TIME. Preceding the albums release, a pre-release single was put out by the title of TREAT YOU BETTER, which was later featured as a track on the work. Treat You Better sent fans into an orbit, constantly tweeting about how excited they are for D-DAY, even starting the semi-viral trend: EVERYBODY KNOWS WHERE THEY WERE WHEN OUT OF TIME DROPPED, followed by either a funny picture of their current situation while they stalk the release of the album, or a chance to take a cute selfie directed at Ravana, desperately hoping for a Y/N moment.
Speaking of Y/N moments, this era sparked the infamous ever-controversial recurring occasion of KIMOON flirting with fans. He regularly would call them pretty during fan-meeting events, comment on pictures, and talk to them almost as if they were his girlfriends or partner. There were mixed opinions about this.
When Out of Time finally dropped, you bet the internet probably broke for the first few hours. I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER is probably still their most popular song to date racking in over 500 MILLION VIEWS. The track included a feature from TROUVAILLE’S BRIAR, who had just debuted not too long before the collaboration. If the tracks on Chrysalis were everywhere, then the tracks on Out of Time were like the plague. I Know What You Did Last Summer constantly topped charts alongside the side tracks like WILDFIRE and APOCALYPSE. Out of Time went onto sell the most units compared to all other releases, sitting at over 7 MILLION SALES.
FRONT BOY: N/A ... KYRIE
Ravana took MUSICAL.LY by storm in 2017 with the single PERSONAL. The music video featured an appearance from WITH LOVE!’S ICHIKA as the love interest. While the song was a virtual hit, the boys weren’t too fond of its generic sound. KYRIE never went a moment without mentioning his disdain for the song and actually protested against its release. However, they redeemed themselves in the summer, coming back with the Extended Play PASSIONFRUIT. The song was mostly written and produced by Kyrie and Kimoon. This came with another trend created by fans, naming summer a “PASSIONFRUIT SUMMER.”
FRONT BOY: EUNKI / KIMOON
Ravana geared up with their first mini album in 2018 by the title NO CALLER ID. This year brought on a fan favorite era for the quintet. Kyrie wrote and produced majority of the album and stated that all releases this year were some of his favorites for the band. FRIENDS performed incredibly well on charts and with the public. No Caller ID is still regarded as one of their best albums musically and statistically. Their second release came in the later part of 2018 with the mini album POLARIZED. This was also a Kyrie-written album, also a fan-favorite album. SWIM and Friends were constantly battling for top 5 spots on the charts.
FRONT BOY: KYRIE
2019 came the release of the single DOUBLE BACK. The song was excessively popular with the masses, peaking at #1 on charts and garnering a plethora of streams. Double Back even had a viral dance trend on TIKTOK. This song was a very collaborative piece of work, the studio process being their favorite session ever. They filmed the recording process and showed that this era was probably the most fun they’d had working on a project even down to the music video. Although, around this era the boys ventured into solo activities, working on projects of their own more-so than group promotions. This lead to nearly two years of musical silence from the band as a whole.
FRONT BOY: KYRIE
After their unofficial musical hiatus as a band, Ravana came back in 2021 with the single NOBODY BUT YOU FT. CHARMEINE. The collaboration was a huge deal with the public, considering PINKETTES’ Charmeine was already embroiled in dating rumors with KYRIE. The fact that Kyrie wrote the lyrics for the song only fueled the rumors, alongside the Instagram lives they did together and other questionable interactions that they swore were just platonic and delusional fans warding off the theory that their fave could possibly be attracted to a pretty girl that isn’t them. Aside from this, the single was a smashing success, in spite of it’s minimal official promotion.
FRONT BOY: KYRIE / KIMOON

MAY 2023
Earlier today, it was reported that Henri Kwon had become the second largest shareholder of Zephyr Entertainment after acquiring 19.8% of the company. According to Henri and Aeri Jung, after much consideration, they settled on the contracts that have been signed and deals that were made. Regarding the situation, Henri Kwon and Zephyr Entertainment released two statements:
HENRI KWON: “I am happy to announce that I will be once again working with Zephyr after six years. This is a change in the right direction. With my newfound creative positions, I can see a new era beginning for the company and the artists under it. The future of the company lies greatly in my hands. I’ve taken a transformative role. I’m ecstatic, I think you all will be satisfied with the changes being made.”
ZEPHYR ENTERTAINMENT: “After many discussions, meetings, and with great consideration, Henri Kwon will be working with Zephyr Entertainment yet again. We can only hope that everyone is on board with the direction we’re taking. Thank you.”
Additionally, it was reported by an inside source that Henri Kwon is now working closely with Zephyr’s second youngest girl group, SOLSTICE. Many fans have been sharing their concerns over Henri’s newfound acquittal, the majority more worried than satisfied with the news. Especially considering the history between Henri Kwon and one of their most profitable artists in company history, Natalia Hwang. Fans are questioning just who Aeri is letting onto the company’s board and how he will be managing the artists he works with—especially SOLSTICE, with the rumors about how he treats his young talents.

[ ⠀2017 ⠀] ⠀✿ ⠀〜 YOUR POWER !
you might not wanna lose your power but having it's so strange
characters : natalia hwang & henri kwon
warnings : angst, manipulative behavior, objectification and sexualization
word count : 4.2k
Natalia hated attending these meetings with Henri. He always brought her along when meeting with investors and other shareholders. He had her sit there by his side and not say anything. That’s what he expected from her, to be completely silent. While they were sitting there discussing her future and auctioning her off, she had no say.
She was there to look pretty and inviting to investors. She was expected to nod and smile while dressed cutely. He always made sure she dolled herself up for business meetings. Henri made her change several times just to make sure her outfit was right. It had to be sexy but it couldn’t be too sexy because there had to be something to leave to the imagination. And it had to be cute but it couldn’t be too cute, because she couldn’t look too much like a little girl with not much to work with anyway. Regardless, he still went out of his way to make sure she looked younger.
They walk through the halls of the Zephyr building, him rushing and Natalia trying her hardest to keep up with his pace. She felt nervous. She always got butterflies in her stomach before these meetings—and not the good kind. Not the kind that made her blush and kick her feet and giggle, but the kind that made her feel as though she were going to throw up at any minute. The kind that made her hands get clammy and her heart sit at the pit of her stomach. It was an anxiety that she hated.
“Henri,” she called out his name.
He didn't respond, he just hummed, barely acknowledging her.
“Henri,” Natalia said again.
“What, Natalia?” He asked rather impatiently, stopping where he stood and turning to look back at her.
She looked down to the floor where his eyes were locked at hers. She never held good eye contact with Henri. He also gave her anxiety that she hated. “I don’t feel good.”
He sighed with exasperation. “We have a meeting to be at in, like, twenty minutes.”
“I know,” she muttered. “But I just—I just feel bad.”
“We don’t have time for feeling bad, Natalia.”
She swallowed hard, her hands coming together, her fingers anxiously fidgeting at each other. Her face started to feel hot and her eyes started to feel a wave of warmth, all of a sudden. She took another deep breath.
“Natalia,” Henri said in a softer tone, turning fully toward her now. “Talia, what is feeling bad?”
Natalia looked up, trying to find her feelings somewhere in her cluster of a mind. She failed to conjure up a solid reason. “I don’t know, Henri. I just don’t feel good, I feel…” she let the words fall off of her tongue.
She took another deep breath, trying to control the tears. Her voice was tight and she felt her throat close up.
“I feel uneasy.”
“Uneasy? Why?” Henri asked with incredulity. “This isn’t your first rodeo Talia.”
“I know.”
“You know? Then what’s to feel uneasy about?”
Natalia failed to respond, her face getting hotter.
“You know we need you for these. At these meetings, the idea is always there. I sell them the idea and you—you sell them the fantasy. You’re pretty, you’re sexy, you have the image and they love that. You do your job well and I do mine,” Henri said.
“Look, baby, just think of it as you being in charge. You’re in control, without having to say anything, you’re in control. That’s how powerful you are.”
Natalia wasn’t in control. She wasn’t in charge, she didn’t have power over anything at these meetings. She sat there, having business men eye her like an item and trying to sell her like a product. They advertised her like she wasn’t there and talked about her like she was inanimate. Realistically, she had no power or control over anything where it genuinely mattered. Henri was good at selling dreams and fantasies. He sold one to the investors and the general public and he sold one to Natalia everyday. She didn’t know whether she genuinely believed it or if she just got that good at gaslighting herself that she did.
“And just by doing this, you’ll be able to reap all of the benefits. And that’s gonna feel good. You’ll never have to feel bad again.”
Henri grabbed her wrist with one hand and caressed her cheek with the other. “Trust me, baby,” he grinned very slightly. “You don't trust me?”
Natalia nodded, finally looking up at him. “Yes, I do.”
He hummed in approval. He bent down, lowering his head to place a kiss on the cheek where his hand was ghosting over.
“You’re in charge,” Henri repeated.
“I’m in charge.”
