This is a cover me and Toby did for plug and play, really not 100% happy with it has my vocal sounds forced due to having tonsilitis but it was a fun song to cover in this style

Runnin’ The lyrical content of the song: the song is about a relationship that is one way. By this I mean the male in the story walks away from the relationship more than once, which is making the female (me) annoyed. She is sick and tired of the ups and downs this causes and the unreliability of the male but is struggling to end things on her part. The chorus stresses that she wants to run away from his shit, but keeps on going back.  This is a song that shows a corrupt relationship.
Verse Every time, you walk away, Its getting tiring, same shit different day The more you let out frustration, it pushes me away Im not gonna stand it, no Theres 2 in the game
Chorus Runnin, runnin, runnin, runnin I cant stop runnin to you X2

this song, melodically is one of my favourites. the beginning sets the scene rises and falls nicely, and sits well with the minor 7th chords used in the verse and the simple rim shot drum beat, subtle horns and bvs. the chorus is simple using the words ‘gettin in the way’ in the second verse it lifts and she melodically changes the way its sang, by using riffs and licks and sings around what works with the chords carried out by the keys player. this is built up even more in the prechrous. it builds up with the drums and backing vocals and horns, even though its melodically simple. the next chorus is different as it goes into a latin feel, which contrasts with what was happening before in the track. her vocals build up with scatting used, the bass riffs becoming paramount to the track. i think this is done to create interest in the track and show what they can do as musicians this ending to the track is really different to what is heard in the beginning, from rob/soul to latin fused with rnb and soul. its a complex, gripping song, which musically has a lot going on melodically with all instruments, not just the vocals. i have picked the live version because the instrumentation is on point as goes to show how many things can be going on melodically at one but works so well.
i love this track!!!!!!!

The lyrics to this song are simple but are just great. This song was not written by Fitzgerald, but is one of my favourite covers of the song, as i feel she brings so much life to it. For starters, i love the unusual chord progression used in both the verse and chorus and the transition of this.
Regarding the lyrical content, i get the impression its about a guy who has the hots for a girl and he uses the metaphor ‘satin doll’ to describe her.  In the chrous/ pre-chorus the lyrics :
‘She's nobody's fool so I'm playing it cool as can be I'll give it a whirl but I ain't for no girl catching me’
This hows that he fancies the girl but he doesn't really want to be tied down.
There isn't really a specific structure to this song, which is why i quite like it. You can distinguish the different parts, but i would really class the chorus as an actual chorus, just think its a really good piece of music, with a cool structure, great arrangement and some good lyrics.

This is my electronic style song. This was done using a grid sequencer which is an external midi. This is a really good way to input sounds in. its not very complex but i used different music ideas and patterns to create this.

I’m really not used to using logic, like i know how to use the basics and record on there and i know what good electronic music should sound like…which isn’t this sadly. I feel this is due to my lack of experience and knowing how to navigate around logic, which is more difficult than what i thought. This is some simple music i did using samples

This has to be one of my favourite songs. This is one of the songs, along with a lot of other Hathaway tracks, that really made me go, Oh my God. I wanna be able to do what he does. His soul, grit and perfect tone along with passion and emotion in the track makes it one of them tracks that I could happily listen to over and over. Even though this is a cover, its a bloody good one! Its a song that just screams soul and blues which are genres of music I'm just fascinated with. Moreover, the context of the song which talks of him being a jealous guy, is something I feel like i can relate too, because i can be a jealous fucker and takes me back to my past with lads!
