Giving each other that "We're in this together" expression

It's Luigi breaking his focus to look at his brother, but instead of seeing him running for the star he sees Mario standing there with his hand outstretched.

It's Mario's little nod. He's injured and doesn't know exactly what's about to happen, but his motion is still tinged with reassurance. Reassurance that it's all going to be okay, and that despite everything he's accomplished on his own, all he wants is to have his brother back by his side.

It's Luigi's reaction. He pauses not out of doubt, but out of surprise. Even in a situation so dire Mario will take a moment to wait for him, encourage him, and let him make the choice to take his hand.

It's the quickness and certainty with which Luigi takes the hand once the shock has faded. It's the complete faith in his eyes.

It's the essence of Mario's absolute devotion and Luigi's diehard loyalty packed into three seconds of animation.

The Forehead Touch

Words will never be enough for me to express how much I adore this scene with all of my heart and soul. The desperation in Mario’s eyes, the way he looks seconds away from breaking down in tears, and falling to knees.

The last gif just purely destroys me in the best way. The way Mario closed his eyes and soaks everything, just looking so relieved and yet still so very broken as he clings to his baby brother
