There's this old book by some weird Soviet guy. Every time my mother tried to read it from start to finish, she fell violently ill to the point she hallucinated about little green people peeking timidly into her room. I remember it now because I've finished every single part running a fever and feeling like my throat's been set on fire. Dominic really doesn't go easy on the players. We're also in the middle of the most severe storm in many years. There are trees crashing onto cars, roofs flying off the buildings; the entire city had a blackout tonight, and I'm sitting here drawing stupid rat people. This is what I like to call priorities. A playlist?

Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Pick whatever, it'll fit. Also, that YouTube documentary about the mystery flesh pit.

Anyway, I'm done here. Shaking off my hands. Whoever said "yada yada Rossum is a puppeteer" – come here and look me in the eye.

I have a few more concepts for Part 3, then it's a tiny break for Strangetown teens, and then back to the rat man. Because every character deserves their own hyperfixating weirdo.

Some things I thought about while drawing:

1. Dominic must absolutely hate his name for its meaning. Like, come on, "belonging to God" – is this some stupid joke???

2. Since the plumbob used to be right over his head, he must've only seen its polygonal bottom most of the time.

I played, like, five tracks on repeat again. It's definitely a pattern.

[Part 1]

Beneath all the quirky humor, and Louis Vuitton to TS4 conversions, and tiny rustic cottage builds, and Juno Birch memes, and one hundred baby challenges, The Sims is, essentially, a Kafkaesque psychological horror

Geez, Rossum, he just wants to get off Mr. Bones' Wild Ride, it's not that over the top!

Whoever came to me with the Rossum suggestion – you fool! you absolute buffoon! you don't know what you've doomed yourself to! I have an entire dynamic headcanoned for these two, and it is as intense as it is ugly, and now I'm going to expose you all to it! Cue evil laughter.

Here are the five tracks I've been vibing to on repeat all the way from sketch to final edits, so that you can get a better idea of what kind of emotional turmoil I've been diligently cultivating in myself:

As a (temporary) conclusion to my Watcher-adjacent art era (that is, until someone does something that puts me right back on my bullshit), I find it funny that PSP's storyline is so reliant on implications, standing on he-said-she-said stilts and running on rumor mill power.

By the end, except for the events you've witnessed with your own two eyes, you still can't really be objective about who's responsible for which piece of nonsense you had to sort out. Which ones were Doc, pushing and prodding at every boundary he could find? Which ones were the Watcher before you, cultivating some classic Watcher-style neighborhood drama? I could start making cases for either. I have bones to pick with both. No car and the messiest second-hand save.

How much of the info you've extracted from these people is genuine, who's fed you a nothingburger, and who's straight-up lied? You certainly know more about Nervous's predicament than Emily does. "I blacked out" is such a universal excuse. Annie doesn't even share her dark secret, she just stands there looking scary. And I respect her for that, because damn, they all yap.

In other words, I just appreciate that we can attach any headcanon and backstory to this narrative machine and it'll still give us a smooth run. May Dominic's growing ship record be evidence for that.

my other sims take of the night is that there's no way "jenny curious" is the name she was born with. her brothers are named pascal, vidcund, and lazlo. her parents definitely stuck her with a weird name too. maybe she was Gwynifer and changed it to Jennifer

The Sims 2 PSP Cut Content: Part 2

This is a follow up to my first cut content post, mostly talking about the cut Kine Dairy content there.

Missing Division 47 Scientists

Catelyn Lancaster

Catelyn is one of four Division 47 research assistants that are in The Sims 2 PSP. The two research assistants that still show up are Red Sands and Cristian Allard. All four scientists originally spawned inside the Laboratory along with the Curious brothers. Red and Cristian were later moved outside the lab to roam with the guards, leaving the other two scientists behind. This was likely due to performance issues in the lab. The schedule file indicates that Catelyn Lancaster would have spawned in the Laboratory only during the night.

As mentioned in part 1: Gender: 0 = female, 1 = male. The eye color is only specified if they're not the default brown. (I'll be using the Sims 2 PC to recreate them, as it shares a lot of assets with the PSP version)

Bio: "A research assistant at Division 47." social = 15, intimidation = 3, personality = 1, Her social score is higher compared to other Division 47 locals, and her intimidation score is at the max of 3, which would have made her one of the difficult Sims to do social games with. She has the Air personality type and she uses the serious idle set of animations instead of neutral. Her topic sets (interests) are dresses, makeup, medicine2, school2, politics2, spacesuit, travel2, money1, and the solar system. A visual of these:

 (Personal): "Does all of the work at the lab and gets none of the credit."

 (Intimate): "You were her first kiss … and after that experience, probably her last."

 (Dark): "Persists in enumerating common domestic fowl prior to emergence from their pre-natal habitats."

As said above, Terri is one of four Division 47 research assistants that are in the game. The schedule file indicates that Terri would have spawned in the Laboratory only during the day.

Bio: "A research assistant at Division 47." social = 13, intimidation = 2, personality = 0, Her social and intimidation scores are average for Division 47 locals, so social games aren't too bad. She has the Fire personality type and she uses the serious idle set of animations instead of neutral. Her topic sets (interests) are dresses, makeup, classical, school1, alien, aliens, and birdbee. Terri Tortuga's Secrets

 (Personal): "Has a HUGE crush on Pollination Tech #9."

 (Intimate): "Sometimes turns the radio telescope towards the city and pretends it's a laser."

 (Dark): "Tests new chemicals on herself, just for kicks. Once grew a second head."

Since we're talking about Division 47, I can add one more thing about TA7 (go see p6tgel's post to learn more about who TA7 is) The devs left notes here and there in the files.

Random fact time: When you collect Roberta Rossum's parts, you can check your inventory and read the descriptions for them, but I don't believe you get a chance to read the description of Roberta's head before you give it to Isaac Rossum? But here it is.

There's also a toy horse story item that I can't seem to find any other information for.

The Sims 2 PSP Cut Content: Part 1

I had been looking for the best way to implement this info on the Sims Wiki (but these are cut Sims, so there's not really a place for them? Or maybe someone else can do it). I've also been working on some videos talking about them. (I love watching these types of videos and prefer that visual format) but at this rate who knows when I'll finish it. So here we go! If you love Strangetown and crave any ounce of lore that you can get like me, here's a few townies. They even have their own secrets! Please read p6tgel's post to get all the info about the cut character TA7, everything I know about him is over there, so I don't have anything to add here. All I'm going to say is... I remember wanting to find out so badly who Mister Smith's friend was after playing The Sims 2 PSP for the first time. I'm so glad they actually did add more to the story. Learning more about the alien society and getting another title (like Pollination Technicians) just makes me want a Sixam neighborhood even more lol go read about it!!

Missing Kine Society Cult Members

Tunak Tun

Tunak is the only cut character that I could find photo evidence of in an old screenshot. He is a cut Kine Leader (like Sara Starr), as seen in his brown robe talking to Bull Dratch. The schedule file for the Kine Dairy indicates that Tunak would have spawned only during the day.

Unfortunately, it's a view of his back, but his character file confirms this appearance. (just want to say... the details on the Kine robes are actually beautiful. The crunched down quality we got in the final release makes them look like rags) Gender: 0 = female, 1 = male. The eye color is only specified if they're not the default brown. (I'll be using the Sims 2 PC to recreate them, as it shares a lot of assets with the PSP version)

Bio: "A member of the Kine Society." social = 7, intimidation = 1, personality = 1, His social and intimidation scores are on the lower end for Deadtree locals, so social games aren't as difficult. He has the Air personality type. His topic sets (interests) are cow, cow milk, cow bell, cow beast, full moon, and crystal ball. A visual of these:

Tunak Tun's Secrets

 (Personal): "Has been known to sneak in a burger or two on the sly."

 (Intimate): "Likes to wear loose robes for that 'fresh and ventilated' feeling."

 (Dark): "He actually just made up his other two Secrets. He's a pathological liar."

According to the game code, Tunak Tun would also count towards the goal to "Earn the Trust of a Kine Leader [Relationship 4]", just like Sara Starr and Sinjin Balani.

Zen Mu

Zen Mu is regular Kine Society member that wears a white robe. The schedule file for the Kine Dairy indicates that Zen would have spawned only during the night.

I went through every face template available in the Sims 2 PSP CAS and I can't find Zen Mu's (might be hidden like some hairs/clothes are) and I don't see the stubble hair in the PC version.

Bio: "A member of the Kine Society." social = 7, intimidation = 1, personality = 2, Their social and intimidation scores are on the lower end for Deadtree locals, so social games aren't as difficult. They have the Water personality type. Their topic sets (interests) are cow, cow milk, cow bell, and cow beast. A visual of these:

Zen Mu's Secrets

 (Personal): "Severe lactose intolerance has made her unpopular in the Kine Society."

 (Intimate): "She is deathly afraid of cows, but don't let the cows find out … they thrive on fear."

 (Dark): "When she meditates, her power animal is a horse … the highest form of Kine blasphemy."

Interestingly, Zen Mu's gender and character model is male, but all 3 of Zen's secrets uses she/her pronouns. Small fun fact - Personal Kine robe for the player: It looks like we would have received our own kine robe at one point, probably after passing inspection, according to the item list file (item 72). Now, we can just go to a wardrobe and buy a robe ourselves.

Extra fun fact that I randomly like to talk about on my twitch streams, but I don't remember if I've said it over here? These two award winning cows were actually given names by the devs in the Kine Dairy level spawning file. Bessie and Gertie! <3
