This is it, the final post. I got off the trail yesterday in Monson, Maine due to a foot injury. The final section of the trail between Gotham, NH and Maine was challenging and beautiful. What did I get from the hike? The depths of reverence I have for the state of Maine has magnified exponentially. I am so grateful for the pristine wilderness, magnificent mountains and natural wonders that surround me. May I never take that for granted. I will forever be part of the mountains and the mountains will always be part of me 馃檹馃徎鉂わ笍馃彅鉂わ笍馃檹馃徎 Courage, wisdom and peace are additional gifts. This will benefit me both personally and professionally. Then I ask, what is the difference and realize there isn't any. May I always bring my authentic self into my work. May this experience help me help others. May my heart always be filled love, kindness and gratitude. I am so grateful for all the wonderful people I have met along the journey who have been so kind and generous. It is my hope that I will give back to the trail in some way and keep paying it forward. We are all stewards of the earth. May we take that responsibility seriously and do our small part to protect God's magnificent creation. My adventure was about taking a leap of faith or a spiritual journey. My journey will continue as I climb my spiritual mountain and realize that having faith is something that is always within me and not out there. 08/05/17. Maine
Wow! And I complained about the rocks in PA? What was I thinking? I decided to get back on the trail and do Maine. I have made it through southern Maine which includes some of the toughest hiking on the AT. I have learned a great deal about courage. Prior to hiking the trail I was very nervous about heights. I have strived to focus on the step that I am taking. Looking back or forward to far can paralyze one with anxiety. I was amazed by how being present brought a sense of calm. I have jumped, climbed and slipped on more rocks than I can count. My motto was to focus on the step that I am taking and to keep moving forward. I will be going into remote terrain and feel comfortable. I am ready for the hike to be over. The trail is now part of me. I should finish in a couple of weeks. I can always go back and do the section that I missed if I choose to complete the full hike. At this point I am satisfied with 1700 miles. Onwards to Katahdin. When I started the hike my destination was home. Now home is wherever I pitch my tent. It is not a geological location but a state of mind. While visiting my nephew in Stratton I noticed a plaque on the wall that said "houses are made of wood and beams and homes are made of love and dreams." I have so much love in my heart for all of God's creation. I am at home and at peace with All. We are All One. I am Home馃檹馃徎
