Blending in at the carnival

302 and 714 stood in the bustling Piazza San Marco, the heart of Venice’s legendary carnival. Around them, the air was filled with laughter, music, and the swish of elaborate costumes, each more extravagant than the last. The Basilica di San Marco glowed behind the drones, illuminated by lanterns and the soft glow of twilight.

Despite their attempts to move discreetly, their presence drew curious glances. Among the swirling silks and glittering masks, the two drones... rigid, uniformed, and expressionless... stood out starkly. No matter how they tried to blend in, they were perceived as somber, almost like party crashers amid the colorful revelry.

A woman dressed as a fortune teller approached, her eyes sharp yet kind. Without a word, she handed each of them a delicate Venetian mask: one adorned with silver filigree, the other golden and with reliefs.

“Wear these,” she whispered, vanishing into the crowd as quickly as she appeared.

302 and 714 exchanged a glance. After a moment to process the situation, they slipped on the masks. As they did, something remarkable happened. The crowd’s perception shifted. Suddenly, the drones no longer seemed out of place. Though the masks covered only a small portion of their faces, 302 and 714 were now seen not as imposing drones but as two more enigmatic figures caught up in the spirit of the carnival.

People smiled, raised glasses, and even invited the drones to dance. The transformation was subtle but profound, as if the masks had woven them into the very fabric of the celebration. As they moved through the square, they were perceived, for once, like a part of the human tapestry. A rare moment where tradition and technology danced together under the Venetian moonlight.
