“Ah, we all did such a good job today everyone, keep up the good work!” Chan victoriously cheered along with the other members, beads of sweat glistening down their bodies after another practice for their new coming album “GIANT”.
All of the members were particularly proud of themselves for doing albums back to back, considering the tight schedule around their necks and practically chaining them to the floor, all except a certain duo.
Changbin’s gaze lingered a little too long on the photos that they had taken just a few hours back for the concept of their album, able to keep a few as a little gift for their work. However, another ferret was staring at the backs of the other members as they left, gnawing at the inside of his cheek anxiously.
“Changbin..let’s go home, shall we?” Hyunjin finally chokes out after the long bout of awkward silence that falls upon them after a while, eyes widening when he saw the almost dull gaze from the rapper who solemnly nodded.
The ride back to their dorm felt almost haunting, empty one would say, neither of them daring to speak up to each other despite the eager and worried pestering of the members beside them; they could tell as clear as day that something was off with them, no matter how many plastered smiles they tried to give.
Changbin got home and much to Hyunjin’s dismay, he rushed to his room to slam the door shut and curl up into himself, much more content in revealing his sorrows to himself rather than to show it outside, where the members, also dealing with their own issues, would be dragged down by the weight of the problems he knew were probably heavy.
Tears wouldn’t fall, however, he felt drained. Too drained to do anything but lay there numbly, anything but feel more than he could feel all at once swirling inside of him. Changbin wished he wasn’t the only one dealing with these issues, he wished he could be as confident as half the members seemed to be in their abilities and in his humble opinion—their looks.
The thought ached, and his stomach swirled with thoughts that led one to another as it always did, and time passed in the blink of an eye, and he started to feel the oxygen leave him. Gasping, he sobbed dryly, the tears still refusing to leave his eyes despite how much he wanted them to.
Hyunjin knocked on the door gently, heart breaking into a million pieces when his hearing picked up on the pieces that Changbin was trying to fix back together to make himself whole again, before he was met with the sight of a smiling Changbin.
However, it was all off, his eyes were a tinge of red in the corners, nose a little bit too red to be considered just makeup, the foundation on his skin beginning to run from what he was assuming were the tears that dared to ruin such a pretty face like his. Without another word, the artist quietly brings the older into his embrace, pushing his head into his chest with a quiet expression.
“Jinnie...it hurts...it hurts…” Changbin spilled when he felt his back being massaged so tenderly, fisting the shirt that the artist was wearing into bunches as new peals of tears began to flow.
And as Hyunjin continued to listen to the weak begging for something unknown, his own eyes too began to water, running down into Changbin’s scalp and onto his back.
Even if his knees felt like completely giving up at that moment, they both held themselves strong, trying to support each other as the tears continued to flow like rivulets. Nothing else sounded between the both of them at all, not even the breeze of wind that tried to bring them comfort.
“Hyung…please don’t hide from me…what’s wrong?” Hyunjin asked, his voice cracking with an aching emotion as he rubbed down Changbin’s back, and he knew that the older’s wall of defence, his wall of composure, was slowly shattering, breaking down against his will.
“I—I can’t…” Changbin whimpered, and Hyunjin’s heart tightened painfully. “You’ll get tired of hearing why.”
The knot in Hyunjin’s stomach finally broke, and a fresh wave of tears surfaced his eyes. His hyung…was scared of telling him what was wrong, too scared to admit he wasn’t okay, that he needed help.
Hyunjin knew he would stop at nothing to make his Binnie happy, and he knew that if Changbin had to complain about the same damn issue every single time, he would listen every single time and be ready to comfort him.
“Hyung, please…I would never get tired of you, never get tired of your insecurities or issues, and I would never, ever turn you away.”
“Then how about Hyung giving you some comfort? You’re still crying so badly, Jinnie ah…” Changbin winced in empathy when he’s face to face with Hyunjin’s bloodshot eyes, bringing a gentle hand up to his cheek, cupping and caressing the skin so softly.
The ferret immediately leaned into the touch like a lost puppy, still sniffling and hiccuping all over the place. Changbin had to do something about it, he needed to fix whatever mess he’s made of the younger, feeling as if it was his duty to take care of him. Knowing poor Hyunjin, he already knew why he was sobbing in the first place..
“B-But Hyung—ehehe! W-Wahahait!” Hyunjin squealed as the tender fingers that once provided him warmth now travelled down to his sides, prodding and gently kneading the area. The artist tried his best to squirm away, but it was to no avail when you were fighting one of the strongest members in the group, brought back easily like a little plushie.
Changbin doesn’t say anything in response, just whispering little phrases of sweet compliments along the lines of, “Your dancing is amazing”, or “You’re not just a picture…” into his ears.
The words melted the younger’s heart, finding it harder and harder to put up a fight with the tingling yet soft sensations and the comforting words being whispered into his ear, just giggling himself silly.
“Nononohohoho…Hyuhuhuhung Ihim suhuhupposed to be comfohohorting youhuhu!!” Poor Hyune squeaked out, trying to shove at Binnie’s wrists with no avail, however Changbin, trying to redirect attention, kissed Hyunjin’s ear, driving the poor ferret mad as he squirmed and squealed cutely.
“Shhhh…let hyungie take care of you…” Binnie blew air into Jinnie’s ear, smiling as Hyunjin melted back into him, tiny tears sparkling along his lashes. “You’re so beautiful, Hyunjin, but you’re so talented too, jagi…I love you for you, not just for how pretty you are, but for just being you…”
“I lohohohove you tohohohoo, hyuhuhung!” Hyune shrieked, and Changbin smiled, his lips upturning even as his eyes welled up with emotion again.
“Now say it. Say that you’re talented, and say that you’re worth more than you think. Say it.”
Hyunjin hiccuped through his giggles, his eyes slitted into crescents as he sputtered. “Okahahay!! Okay!! Ihihim tahahalented and wohohorth mohohore than I thihihink!!”
“That’s what I’m talking about.” Changbin smiles as he lets Hyunjin go, holding him up in his arms to let the younger catch his breath. He could see the faint smile on his face that continued to linger even after the tickles had already worn off his body, still clinging onto the rapper like he’d disappear if he even considered the thought of removing his hands.
However, it all switched the moment Changbin felt himself being lifted onto the ground, tossed onto the bed gently before Hyunjin loomed over him, a now more wicked grin on his face as he hovered over the nervous Dwaekki.
“Don’t think I forgot about you crying Hyung~ How about you tell me how cute and handsome you are?” Before Changbin could even respond, he ended up squealing through his own fit of giggles as wiggling fingers descended onto his stomach, crawling up and down and dangerously close to his navel.
It wasn’t fair, how soft the producer was with the dancer and how lenient he was, only to be tickled to pieces the moment he gave Hyunjin reprieve; not that he minded anyway. Seeing the blush beginning to bloom on Changbin’s cheeks, it only made the artist smile, continuing the soft ministrations.
“Ahaha! N-Nohot cute! Hyuhuhune!” Changbin whines, but makes no move to push the dancer off him, crumpling the fabric of the bed beneath him into his fists to try and regain some sort of control.
Hyunjin only gave a loud coo into his face, scribbling his fingers around his neck to watch his shoulders scrunch up ever so cutely while his nose contorts into a little pig like snort, he swore that he could look at that adorable face forever and not get tired of it, even bringing a finger or two to poke his cheeks.
Binnie squealed, the sensation of the fingers poking at every sensitive spot forcing his face into an expression of pure joy, his eyes squeezed shut as his nose scrunched involuntarily, leaving him absolutely boneless as Hyunjin continued his tickling.
Hyunjin crawled his fingers down to Changbin’s underarms, digging in gently while whispering sweet nothings into his ear, leaving his hyung’s mind blank except for the pure feeling of joy flowing through his thought process.
“Go on, hyung. Say it.” Hyunjin cooed, his eyes softening. Binnie’s laughter was spilling out uncontrollably, his face flushed as he twisted in Hyune’s grasp. He tried to control his giggles, but every delicate stroke under his arms sent him into fresh peals of laughter.
“Buhuut Ihihim nohohot!! IHIHIM NOHOHOHOT!!” Binnie’s protests dissolved into hysterical giggles as Hyunjin’s disapproving fingers moved down to his hips, digging in with playful, deep strokes. “Now now, we both know that’s not true, but I guess we’ll stay here until you can admit it…”
Hyunjin moved down, to the tender area between Changbin’s armpits and chest that seemed to drive the poor boy absolutely mad. Binnie’s reaction was immediate—his whole body shook with wild, unrestrained laughter as he struggled to pull away from the relentless tickling.
“NOHOHOHO—NOHOHOT THEHEHERE NOT THEHEEHEHERE!!” His thrashing grew frantic, every nerve in his body on fire as he struggled to catch his breath, his face now bright red from laughter and embarrassment.
“Say it.”
Hyunjin almost demands, gritting his teeth as he tries his best not to get bucked off by a wildly thrashing Changbin beneath him, relishing in the screams for mercy that followed below him.
What a perfect end to Halloween, he thought, continuing to taunt his poor ‘wife’ as his fingers scratched the area gently, pulling another agonised yet happy shriek from Changbin.
His heels dug into the bed, arms shoving at the ones tormenting him, his head shook side to side in mirth, but nothing seemed to work, as if Hyunjin was glued to Changbin’s waist permanently. Finally, he gives in, breathlessly screaming the words with all his might through peals of cackles.
“I-I’M CUHUHUTE! A-AND- AHAHAHA HAHAHAHNDSOME!” Changbin squeals one last time when he feels lips vibrating against his neck harshly, before dropping into quiet silence of laughter as tears of mirth drip down his cheeks pitifully, no longer having the strength to fight back anymore.
Taking pity on the poor guy, the artist finally lets up, wiping away the now happier tears from Changbin’s burning cheeks and laying down beside him for a long and warm cuddle, nuzzling his nose against the older’s cheek with a chaste affection. The older didn’t even protest, melting and humming into the actions while he would usually protest and try to turn the tables.
As they lay together, the exhaustion of their earlier emotional release gave way to a comforting silence, their breathing finally in sync.
Changbin shifted slightly, resting his head on Hyunjin’s shoulder, feeling a warmth he hadn't let himself seek for so long. Hyunjin wrapped an arm securely around him, his fingers idly tracing patterns along Changbin's back, a silent promise of reassurance. “Hyung…always come to me, yeah?”
“You too, Jinnie…we can do this, together, okay?” Bin snuggled closer, and Jinnie sighed in happiness.
Hyunjin knew he’d always have his rock—his hyung, both able to protect him physically and emotionally, having his ‘wife’ by his side.
And in that quiet moment, wrapped in Hyunjin’s arms, Changbin finally felt seen—not just as an idol or a friend, but as someone worthy of love, just as he was.
