Hello all! I've been working on an overhaul of Arrhythmia, or now titled Alma. Here's some concepts for the Harpies, a race of avian-humanoids that adapted to the Spiral's brand of weirdness.

More below the cut!

Harpies are part of my other world, titled Alma. The story's world is a colossal, vertical caldera-esque setting where the deeper you go, the weirder things get. (If you're familiar with things like Made in Abyss, Dungeon Meshi or even Dante's Inferno, the Spiral is similar to those things.)

Harpies are mostly muscle and skin, with frail at best bone structures. It's their ligaments and joints that do the shock absorption. Their bones are hollow for flight, but not all harpies can fly, the majority of them use their wings as balance for their top-heavy frames.

The harpies that can fly tend to compensate their huge wings for a more animalistic stance, happy to use their wings as a second pair of legs while keeping their frail arms open for grasping.

Their neck is extremely vascular over muscular. It's a major weak point, and thus most harpies have thick hair-like plumage on their necks, kind of like how sheep have thick wool around theirs. Nowadays the neck plumage is more fashion than anything.

Their tails are also prehensile and are also mainly for balance purposes, but a clever harpy can adapt their tail with added gadgets to make it an effective multitool.

Their shoulders are set in a way that resembles canines, unable to reach behind their backs or fully extend their arms outward like a humanoid could.

Harpies have scaled legs like birds do, but some harpies will have scales that pattern their bodies alongside their plumage, giving them a reptilian look.

A sub-race of harpies that adapted to the deeper depths of the spiral exists. These harpies have carapaces for feathers and elytras instead of wings, giving them a more insect/"buggy" appearance.

Also bonus for reading this far. My friends held my at gunpoint to draw Spamton as a harpy
