There are many snarky Coronavirus pandemic tees on the internet. This one is mine.

Was gonna go hiking today.
Maybe post a couple of pictures people seem to like (at least 4 of you) on Instagram.
But wanted to move the truck ‘cause street sweeping tickets cost money.
Found a spot right by the complex behind some silver Kia Optima.
Was backing into the space from a position next to the Optima the way you’re supposed to.
There was a blast of the horn from the Optima?
I park - cause I’m parkin’ here!
Out of the passenger side of the Kia, a half naked girl tumbled onto the grass median; crying and yelling. She’s topless and traumatized as the Kia takes off at a high rate of speed.
I stayed in the truck during the exchange in case it was necessary to total the Kia. “The truck” is Robbie’s ‘91 K2500 Chevy.
While it is the policy of the film crew not to interfere and we cannot save the humans from themselves, once the moment is over, it is okay to render aid to victims.
She was pulling a sweater out of her backpack to cover herself as I got out of the truck.
“Are you okay?” I asked
“Huh?”
“Do you need a cop?”
She stared at me.
“Do you have a phone? Can you call someone?”
“Would you call someone?”
“Sure. Who?”
So I entered 10 digits into my phone as she listed them off. And found myself telling a random guy I’m in Hacienda Heights with this traumatized girl without knowing if he’s her brother, cousin, dad or whatever.
He asked me where we are and I told him.
He offered me gas money to meet him and drop her off at a nearby fast food restaurant. I agreed with no intention of accepting payment.
The other car - there was not a lot of fuel in the truck, and I really didn’t want to give up my parking space - was all the way across the complex.
She asked if she could stay put while I got the car.
“Sure, no problem.” Because following a stranger into an apartment complex about a minute after being assaulted probably seems risky, I figured.
When I pulled back out on the street where the truck was parked, I found myself behind the same Kia Optima. He was again arguing with the nice girl he’d just assaulted.
I turned on the hazard lights and waited. She seemed to be telling him she has a ride, he should F•Off, etc.
My cell phone rang. Brian returning a previous call. He asked me what I was doing. So I told him this story.
“You’re kidding.”
“I’m not.”
He advised me to be careful.
“You know me.”
“That’s why I’m reminding you. Be careful.”
The girl arguing with her assailant must have heard part of the call because the phone was connected to the car and the audio routed through the stereo.
She’d looked back nervously right when I’d described Kia Optima dude as a “complete douchebag”.
I waited while they “talked”.
After some time that may or may not have been as long as it seemed, She then made a kind of “it’s okay” face and hand gesture as she walked around to the driver side of the Kia.
Based on the small silver shimmy of the Kia as she moved, Douche of the Day was sliding into the passenger side.
It was not totally obvious. The Kia has blacked out windows because of course it did.
The nice girl I’d witnessed being assaulted got into the car of the Dude that assaulted her.
It is the policy of the documentary film crew not to interfere. We cannot save the humans from themselves.
But we do observe and report.
So the image below is the one I texted to the friend that the girl had asked me to contact for her.
I figured it was rude to promise to show up somewhere and not follow through. Especially when expected to deliver someone safely.
So, for the record, the guy who drives this car is a douche who assaults young women.
And I didn’t go hiking today because of it.
